So i recently just bought a i7 9700f, and now I have to choose which motherboard. I was thinking about getting a b365m motherboard to save money, but I saw some comments about b360 motherboards limiting the i7 9700f boost frequency? Is this true? I wont be overclocking at all (since its a 9700f) so thats why im not choosing a z390 mobo.

Sorry in advance if this sounds like a noob question So I am going to build a pc but I am stuck on deciding on which motherboard I should get (MSI Mag B550m Bazooka or gigabyte a520 aorus elite).Tho i also want to know if their vrms are different and which one is more “future proof”. thanks

Hiya, I am looking for a motherboard for my 5600x, and have whittled it down to these two. I prefer the Strix B550-A for its looks, but the Steel legend has more features (Post Code, Front panel USB C header, etc). I am planning on doing some overclocking as well. What are your thoughts? Price is about the same, and I really don't know which one to get. Thanks for any help.

I’ve been trying to find which one is the best, but If I searched them up, there are not a lot of webpages that say about, but if there are they just say each motherboard features but don’t compare them. Also please tell me if there are any differences in vrms. Thanks

Every now and then I browse Newegg for fun, with no intention of buy anything. In my search yesterday I discovered this: the Intel AX200 Gig+ Wi-Fi 6 Desktop Kit. Wi-Fi 6 in your PC for only $30 sounds like a bargain, but the card requires a Key A or Key E m.2 slot to function. In my supplemental research, I could find no motherboards with Key A or Key E m.2 slots and no adapters that go directly from PCIe 1x to Key A/E m.2. All of the adapters I found were mPCIe to Key A/E or Key M to Key A/E. This begs the question: who is this card for? It's an incredible value and not from a shady Chinese brand, but the prerequisite for a fairly rare motherboard connector or even rarer adapter means not many people can use it. What motherboards could actually use this card without adapters and what adapters would a prospective buyers have to buy to use it (without daisy chaining) if they don't have any Key A/E slots? EDIT: Most of this information is kinda irrelevant, scroll down for my reply with important information

Help - New motherboard - can't reactivate Windows
Guest posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
A320 broke, replaced with a B550 using all the same components as before. Updated BIOS and Windows completely up to date Everything working fine except Windows no longer activated The troubleshooting process doesn't work. (select the "I recently changed hardware" option in Activation Troubleshooting) The error is like "Unable to reactivate windows using any of these devices" In my windows account the new motherboard is showing as a new PC (same PC name) I can't see any way to transfer the windows key from the old mobo to the new one. Is speaking to Microsoft my only option?- 6 replies

Hi, I need suggestions from the experts about my existing CPU/Processor and Motherboard. Since it is a trouble switching Hardware components in a need to upgrade, I am willing not to switch my CPU & Mainboard just because the manufacturer released a new CPU or Mainboard. Currently I am using Ryzen 7 2700X processor and Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 5 Wifi motherboard. I am a multitasker as well as a non-professional gamer. I don't use consoles to play games. For gaming, I use my desktop PC. As my monitor is only capable to play games on a resolution of Full HD as it is a VA2219-sh 22” Full HD LED Monitor, I play the games at 1080p resolution. I don't wish to play the games on 120 FPS or whatever higher just for a luxury wish as I am satisfied within the current performance. I now plan to keep and use my current motherboard for next 4 or 5 years for my current gaming specifications. Can I use my existing Ryzen 7 2700X with my existing motherboard for next 4 or 5 years for my gaming specifications to play new PC games? I intend to switch my graphics card regularly if it's badly needed but not the processor and motherboard unless I should forcibly to do that. My PC specs are attached herewith for your convenience. Thanks for any open suggestions. Regards Saimon

I currently have the motherboard, case, and power supply. Is there anyway to see if they work before I get my other parts? If I were to power on the power supply to see if my fans spin, would it damage them or the motherboard as I don’t have a cpu, gpu, or ram?

Hi everyone, I'm looking for motherboard ideas. I've been shopping a lot and researching but I am absolutely not sure at this point which one I'd grab. Here's some info to help : CASE : Cooler Master HAF XB EVO (I know it's an old case but I look it too much compared to standard cases) FANS : I plan on having 2 fans at the front of the case pulling air in, 1 in the rear pushing air out, and 1 x 200mm at the top pushing air out. BRAND : By preference, I would want an ASUS, I have just always liked their product line in general. Other requirements : X570 My concerns which are making this complicated way more than it should be is the fan headers. I have read up on what I could connect where and yes I know it is probably overkill to have the top 200mm fan considering I'm gonna go with a Noctua U14S 140mm CPU cooler but I'm not sure in what cpu_fan header I should plug the top 200mm fan versus the rear fan. I've read that people recommend plugging the rear fan into the CPU_OPT so that they can somewhat be in synch but then that means the top 200mm needs to be plugged where the rear fan would usually be. What do you guys think about this and which motherboard would best suit what I'm trying to do? Other notes : - CAD$ - Ideally do not want to pay more than $500 taxes included for MOBO (going somewhat balls to the wall with the build) - RGB is really really not a necessity (not a fan, pun intended) - I realise that since I won't be overclocking, the Noctua cpu_cooler is not necessary and the top 200mm is probably not necessary either but I want this bad boy to run super cool (will be putting RTX 3080 in it) and I don't like water cooling. Any help or feedback is appreciated (^_^).

Good evening, I'm a computer science student and I have a little problem that I can't fix. About a year ago, my first tower computer decided to die in the middle of final exams. So as a good student that I am, I started testing. I tried to disconnect the processor, the ram, the hard disk, and all the components of the board to see if it turned on. The fact was that in the end it was the board, and the only thing I had to do was process the warranty for the computer, which was preassembled. So I decided to build my own computer. The fact is, these days the computer is failing again with the same symptoms as the previous one. And here a question arises, is it possible that in both computers the motherboard is the problem? At the moment these are the symptoms: - Sometimes it turns on and sometimes it doesn't, depending on when it wants. - Once the computer is turned on, it does not give any problem. What do you think? Could I have just had bad luck or that there are other factors that I do not know? Thanks in advance. Edit 1: MSI B450 GAMING PLUS MAX

Hello I posted incorrect link yesterday. Will not attempt to 'link', will just post plain text of the motherboard i have to choose from. My main concern is having clearance for either a Cryorig r1 ultimate, or a noctura d15 140mm fan. Also while being able to have plenty of vram/bandwitdth etc to fully overclock a 9700k(i pretending its a 'gold lottery ticket' instead of a 'trash lottery' that i keep hearing about with silicon. Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO WIFI LGA 1151, which is currently 189 plus shipping i belive. MSI MPG Z390 Gaming Edge AC LGA1151, which is currently 170$ atm with free shipping i belive. Gigabyte Z390 AORUS Elite (Intel LGA1151, which is 170$ as well with free shipping. Please say if there are better choices for overclocking a 9700k to 4.9-5.1ghz. This is my first 9k cpu setup. had a 4790 before. I would like to stay hopefully below 200$ oin the motherboard, but if there are safer options with better stability for 250+ fps gaming, I would consider spending more. thank you

Hi, I’ve been having some trouble with my computer lately. About a week ago I turned on my computer and it worked perfectly. I shut it down and went to bed. The next day, I turn my computer on and there is no signal on my monitor. So I check what's going on inside my case. My graphics card's fans were spinning, but there was no signal. One single, bright red light on the motherboard which corresponded to "VGA" was lit up. So, I do some research on what this error code means and how to fix it. After reading through what seemed like every article and resource, I started troubleshooting my computer. First, I tried restarting my PC. Then, I tried reseating my GPU. I tried using a different cable to power my graphics card, using the other PCIE slot, plugging in the power cable into a different slot on the PSU, waiting a day with the computer completely unplugged from everything, all of these attempts lead to the same “VGA” error light. Finally, in a desperate attempt to get my computer running again before World of Warcraft: Shadowlands launched, I decided to call Gigabyte support. I told them about my problem and that either their mobo or their graphics card didn’t work. The lady on the phone told me “I am 99% sure that it is the graphics card.” Unfortunately, I didn’t have another graphics card or motherboard to test out which component is faulty so I was left in the dark. After sitting on this for a while, I decided to purchase another graphics card. This time i got an ASUS GTX 1070 ROG STRIX. I plug it in, connect the power to it, and a white light turns on where the power connects. I suppose this signals that it is getting power delivered to it. Anyways, I turn the computer on and it still doesn’t display a signal. I look at the motherboard and I’m still getting the “VGA” error light. I then proceed to try various things, such as using 1 of the 2 sticks of ram, literally disconnecting everything the computer doesn’t need for it to boot, running it in SLI using both of my gtx 1070s, and almost nothing happens. After I tried using SLI, (or maybe after switching out the RAM) I started getting an error code that went in a cycle of CPU -> DRAM -> VGA -> CPU… That’s where I’m at now. I’m trying to figure out what the main culprit is. I’m 100% sure it is not the graphics cards, CPU, Boot drive (m.2) or RAM, and 99% sure it isn’t the PSU. The only thing this leaves is the motherboard. I’m using this motherboard as a third-hand owner, already refurbished. I’m pretty confident that it’s the motherboard, but I can’t be certain because everything else about the system seems to be working just fine. It posts, turns the RAM and AIO rgb on, the fans turn on, etc. There is no visible damage to the motherboard or either of the graphics cards. What could be my problem? Should I try ordering a new motherboard and try that out? Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for helping me out. My system: Motherboard: X470 Aorus Ultra Gaming CPU: Ryzen 7 2700x GPU: Gigabyte G1 Gaming GTX 1070, ASUS ROG STRIX GTX 1070 RAM: 16gb DDR4 3000 Mhz PSU: EVGA 750 GQ (750 Watt, 80 Gold, Semi-Modular) IMG_9957_2.MOV

Hey guys I've just bought an i3-10100, ASRock H410M-HDV, and 16GB of Dual Channel DDR4 @2666Mhz My current system has an i5-4460, Gigabyte G1 MB, and 16GB of DDR3. How do I go about changing the components? Is it straight forward or would I need to do something else before changing them? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I have an Asus Strix Z270E with onboard Qualcomm Wifi adapter. The wifi works on startup and then crashes after a few minutes and appears to bring windows settings along with it for the crash. Settings usually returns but wifi is down until a restart is preformed. Only change to the system was a physical move to a new home. It worked perfectly before this with centurylink vs now having Xfinity routers. I have run multiple drive format and windows reinstalls (both partial reinstall/repair and a full system wipe). I've tried disabling the device and re-enabling, installed different drivers found on another forum. Nothing seems to be working. Any help to get this rig working again is greatly appreciated!

R5 3600 2070 super 16gb 3600mhz corsair 600w 80+ bronze evga x570 gaming edge wifi Recntly, I was installing a new bracket on my aio because it broke, but NZXT Didnt send us the right one. after I took it apart, and than put it back with a different cooler, it no longer booted, just a red led on the debug light saying cpu... I have tried using my brothers ram, swapping the ram out and putting my cpu in his build, it booted up fine, I also just got the new card and I really dont think thats the problem. The gpu does have power, is pkugged into the pci express slot. two out of the maybe 15 times I tested it it said it was ram, but I also tried my ram in my brothers computer and it was fine. I am guessing it is the mobo, after trying all these mthods, even resetting cmos a few times, I hink it is the mobo, maybe a faulty cpu socket, bad connections. btw everything is plugged in and the cpu does get power as I can feel the warmth when trying to boot. I am going to contact msi and ask for some help, but anything I havent already tried might work?

Weird Boot bug+ windows update gives D6
FlexedBunny posted a topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
Hi guys, So I seem to have a weird problem. Everytime I boot my pc I have to go into the bios to manually boot my windows m.2 drive. I have put it as priority number 1 so that isnt the problem. I have also updated my BIOS incase that wouldve been the problem. But none if it fixed it. I even went as far as reseting the CMOS. But none of it seemed to work. At this point I got tired of it and just started booting manually. But I mean its not supposed to work like that. Its an entire new pc and it should just work normally! I also thought it gave me a problem with my GPU. This for the reason that yesterday I updated windows and that caused a d6 error that had me reset the CMOS again. On a weird way everytime I seem to update windows it gives me a D6 error and I have to reset my CMOS again. Im using a asus strix z490e motherboard and a i9-10900k As gpu im still using a 1080 (F for my 3080 that is yet to be shipped) If more info is needed feel free to ask!- 1 reply
