Hi guys So I've decided its time to invest in a gaming laptop, and the obvious choice for an all-rounder is the razor blade 15. I've begun my search but have struggled to find many deals on this laptop in the UK. Just wondering if anyone on here knows of a great place to pick one up at a great price to avoid the dreaded buyers remorse. Appreciate your help and advice! Thanks!

Oppo sending vulgar links through notifications!
DannysTechTips posted a topic in Phones and Tablets
After leaving my Oppo R15 Pro on charge after downloading the newest software update, I checked on my phone to begin the install to see a notification from the "Browser" application, this first took my by surprise because it was both the first time ever using a basic browser application on the phone instead of Google Chrome. I assumed this was to be a new feature or news about the coming update which I had just downloaded; to my very shocked surprise it wasn't. Oppo had pushed through a notification which took me to this page (image below). Just to clear the air, I've never once searched for anything reguarding this topic, nor the country it was happening in, and I've also never used the "Browser" application, only ever Google Chrome. -
I've been looking for mobile workstations for a while and I came to Lenovo's P52 mobile workstation as I think it has the best value The problem I have here is that there are two options for configurations: 1. Intel i7-8850H 6core with Quadro P3200 graphics 2. Intel Xeon E-2176M 6core with Quadro P2000 graphics (160$ cheaper than option 1) According to the benchmarks online, Xeon processor has slightly better performance compared to i7 overall, and Quadro P3200 has significantly more CUDA cores than P2000 I am aware that P2000 is already a pretty capable card in terms of CAD designing, I am not sure if I should spend extra $160 to opt for better Quadro graphics and less fancy i7, as I am planning to use this laptop for more than 6 years. I want to ask the community which option you would go for. For future-proofing, will P3200 be better? or is it better getting ECC memory support with Xeon (And their fancy name for showing off) I am a student so I would not prefer desktops This is my general workload: 3D modelling and animation using Autodesk Maya and Cinema 4D (I often run big renders overnight so maybe Xeon and ECC memory will give more reliability and stability?) (Adding to Cinema 4D) real time rendering using V-ray (GPU) AND/OR Arnold (CPU) - According to the video "3D Modeling & Design – Do you REALLY need a Xeon and Quadro??", P2000 will be good enough for most CAD designing (outperforms most consumer graphics card), how would it perform for real time rendering? 3D game design using Unity and Unreal Engine (Still deciding which platform to use) Mid-size CAD designing using AutoCAD Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator 4K Video editing on Premiere Pro and After Effects (Planning to test Nuke or Davinci, also want advice for that) And programming on Jetbrains IDEs Again, which configuration will perform better for my workload? (Ignore the RAM because I am going to upgrade it anyways), or are there other laptops that has Xeon and Quadro in a laptop? My preferred budget is somewhere around $2500, but lower is always better! Thanks!

Hey guys, I'm currently looking to update my Samsung Galaxy S5 that I've had for a few years. However, the reason why I've held on to it for so long is that it's one of the few phones I've seen that has an infrared LED built into it. This feature has been a great help over the years for my various robotic projects, as I can use it as a universal remote control. The problem is, it's starting to get old; the battery is dying, it overheats, it crashes frequently, I'd like to update to the most recent android version and be able to watch full hd videos without my hands melting. And so, I'm looking for a new, modern phone that has IR emission available. Thanks for your advice.

With rumours of Samsung releasing a bendable screen phone in the near future do you think it’s a good feature or a gimmick that will never be released/be riddled with compromises and performance issues? Persoanlly I believe it will limit the devices internals and would be better suited to a 2 in 1 allowing for a touch screen keyboard, 2 useable surfaces in tent mode or a massive tablet when at a 180 degree angle. Or in monitors which would allow them to be folded for storage and transportation.

Hey Guys, so this is kind of a simple question but one that I can't figure out what's going wrong with. I'm trying to have something happen every 5 seconds so I wanted to set up a timer/handler to do this but everything i've tried has just waited 5 seconds, then after that initial wait just does it every second and I can't figure out why. I'm sure it's something simple and I'm just tired but I would greatly appreciate some help. I'll attach below the stuff that I've tried: //1 handler.postDelayed(new Runnable() { public void run() { System.out.println("EVERY 5 SECONDS 1"); handler.postDelayed(this, 5000); }}, 5000); //2 new java.util.Timer().schedule( new java.util.TimerTask() { @Override public void run() { System.out.println("EVERY 5 SECONDS 2"); } },5000); //3 Timer timer = new Timer(); TimerTask timerTask = new TimerTask() { public void run() { handler.post(new Runnable() { public void run(){ System.out.println("EVERY 5 SECONDS 3"); } }); } }; timer.schedule(timerTask, 5000, 5000); They're all doing the same thing nothing happens for 5 seconds (which is good) and then they spam the log every second (not so good) and I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

Ok so the time has finally come after almost 4 years to get a new phone and retire my Nokia Lumia 630. It served me well, but since Windows phone was (sadly) killed off it's users have been left in the dark. Now that I finally can afford a phone the hardest part comes, what do I choose? Of course, I still have a very tight budget so it's not that I have this enormous choice of phones, but still even at the budget prices there's a few which seem to be solid for the money. Now before the phones, my budget is around $200-$250 (about 200-230 euros since I'm in Europe). Ok so far I've found a few phones that seem to offer a lot for their price as well as having good reputations, but there is 1 to which I'm drawn the most since it has pretty much everything I could ask for in that price range; 1. Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite (4/64GB) (take this one as the base for comparison): This one is the one that to me seems that it's the best choice, it has everything I'd want that almost all other phones lack bits of (most common things other phones lack are a 3,5mm jack, SD card slot AND 2 sim card slots unlike those hybrid SD/sim card slots that some have and a large battery). The phone itself to me seems great, I know it has the same hardware as the last year's Mi A1 (with the exception of having a micro USB instead of a type C which to me isn't a deal breaker and as some sources said that it's camera is slightly better even though I thought it was the same) but with the new look which honestly I kinda like mostly due to it being slimmer than the A1 so it's easier to hold. Also it has a large 4000mah battery and the SD625 which as I see doesn't waste a lot of the battery which is great. But overall doesn't seem to lack much. 2. Huawei Mate 10 Lite: I haven't done enough research on this one, so my opinion is based on specs. The phone looks good, the specs look good and I assume the quality follows. One thing it lacks is 2xSim card slots + SD card slot, instead it has a hybrid slot, not the most important thing but unless the phone is marginally better than it's competition I'd much rather have a 3rd dedicated slot for the SD card and have the dual sim option at all times. Another thing I dislike is the 3000mah battery. The display I'm guessing is good as well as the camera. 3. Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 (4/64GB) : A lot of people say that this one is a better choice than the A2 Lite (they're the same price, only the 6GB RAM version of the Note 5 costs more) and the reason is usually due to it's SD635 CPU, MiUi, apparently better camera and the notchless design. Now the CPU I don't know how much better it is than the SD625, but as I've been told the CPU is mostly important for gaming on the phone, but since I don't intend to do any heavy gaming (since I have a PC for that) I'm sure I don't need anything more than the SD625 unless the SD635 in the Note 5 is quite a lot better for other things besides gaming (from my experience with an A1 the SD625 seems very capable and hearing that it's very power efficient yet on the 14nm architecture it doesn't sound like a bad choice even now, is it?). For the MiUi that's mostly based on opinions, some say MiUi is better some say Android One is better, but as someone who's last Android was 2.1 then after that used Windows phone I've no idea what would be better for me. At this point Android One seems better since it's clean from any bloatware and it will get all updates directly from Google in the next 2 or 3 years, but I'm sure there are features on MiUi that are useful but I don't know of any which I'd highly need (and I'm not sure about MiUi since it depends on Xiaomi to push updates which they apparently aren't too frequent about but yet as I've read you are assured to get updates for MiUi for 5 years...). As far as the camera goes I've no idea, I've watched comparisons with the A2 Lite, A1, A2 and Note 5 cameras (and some other) and I honestly don't see a difference between the A2 Lite and Note 5 cameras. But is there a difference? 4. Nokia 6.1 (4/64GB): Yes one might assume that someone who's used a Nokia before would want to go with Nokia again and that isn't far from truth, I like Nokia's build quality and all, but this time around I don't think it's as good as it's competitors (not in this price range). The 6.1 is a solid phone, but it's price is noticeably higher than the A2 Lite and Note 5 (it's about as much as the Mate 10 Lite) but it's specs are lacking behind even the 2 Xiaomis. I put it in the list simply to see if there is some reason to why it's a better choice than the rest, but as big of a Nokia fan I am I'm not a fan of the 6.1. Sadly the 6.1 Plus isn't available in my country and by the looks of it will be out of my budget reach, yes it would be nearly perfect but no need to recommend it since (sadly) it's most likely not an option for me. 5. Xiaomi Mi A2 (4/64GB or maybe, just maybe if my wallet tries really hard the 128GB version but...): It's a great phone, was my first choice when I started looking for a new phone, but that beefy SD660 and awesome 12+20mp camera setup on a nice and sleek body come with a few bags of s***... The unholy trinity of the Mi A2 are the lack of an SD card slot, lack of the 3,5mm jack and a very weak 3010mah battery. Ok so the lack of an SD card slot, that I can live with, I'd stretch my budget by muscle to get that 128GB version so I wouldn't need an SD card. The absence of the 3,5mm headphone jack, ok I can buy a bunch of cool type C to 3,5mm adapters, wouldn't like it one bit but they're cheap and I could just get a bunch to keep literally everywhere so I always have some with me or keep them in the phone (like some cool tube adapter I found without a cable just a tube that goes along the bottom of the phone). But the battery, the battery is tremendous! It can barely hold out a day if even that with a full charge! I don't have a problem with charging my phone, but if I happen to not be in a situation where I can charge it while desperately needing my phone that is not acceptable. I do have a power bank but I don't just casually carry it everywhere with me. And the battery unlike the other 2 things can't be fixed, as far as I know you can't get a bigger replacement battery for it so you're stuck with a weak battery on a powerful and power hungry phone. This is another phone next to the Nokia that I put on the list just to see if anyone has a good reason to why it would be worth buying (oh yeah since I'd most likely be going for the 128GB version it would make the A2 the most expensive choice so far) but the battery that can't hold out on a phone like this is a deal breaker. A huge shame, had they merged the A2 and A2 lite in a single phone with a 3,5mm jack, dual sim + SD card slots, 4000mah battery, SD660 CPU and the 12+20mp camera setup it would've been perfect for the price. 6. Samsung Galaxy A6 Plus (4/64GB): This one is already at the top of the budget, just a bit under the A2 128GB but still would be a stretch. Now I'm not sure about this one, specs seem nice (aside from the SD450 CPU? I know I said I didn't need a beast but my Lumia 630 has an SD400 I still would want a step up) but Samsung phones in general are a tad pricey compared to what they offer. The only 2 things I see the A6 Plus having over the A2 Lite is the Amoled display and a somewhat better camera. I'm not the biggest fan of Samsung due to them having the most bloatware and as I said, coming from Windows to Android as much as I like having some neat and useful features and all I don't need a ton of "things" on my phone that I probably wouldn't use 70% of. But again, I'm listing it as a possible option (but it is quite a stretch that doesn't seem to be worth it from what I see) and I'm open to suggestions. 7. Samsung J8 (4/64GB): Pretty much the same as the A6 Plus but a bit more expensive. 8. Xiaomi Mi Max 2 (4/64GB): Similar situation as with the Redmi Note 5, just that this one has the SD625 and all but the largest battery of all the phones listed (5300mah!!!) It seems nice all around (aside from the hybrid card slot...) but it's a bit older so it lacks things like a dual rear camera, on screen navigation bar and also the common problem with the absence of a dedicated SD card slot next to 2 sim slots. Well those are the phones that caught my eye, but as I said I'm mostly being attracted by the A2 Lite since it's among the cheapest in the list yet it has ever basic thing I'd need, but of course if I was 100% sure in what I'm doing I wouldn't be asking for help I'm open to suggestions and advice, sorry if I get a bit picky, it's due to a smaller choice and higher prices in my country (ordering online isn't an option, don't want to deal with that in case I need to return the phone and all stores here are required to give you at least 1-2 year warranty at their expense). But before someone recommends some new popular phones, the Nokia 6.1 Plus isn't available and most likely will be out of my budget, Honor Play isn't the same, higher end (well higher than A6 Plus) Samsung phones are way out of my budget's reach as well as the new Poco F1 which sadly is also far too expensive (I was expecting it to be around $300-350 here but it turned out to be over $400 and even $300 would be stretching it) In advance I thanks for reading and hopefully helping

I have been trying to find a way to immediately backup live streaming from my phone straight to my computer. Like an app to take video which is also being uploaded straight to my computer at the same time as I'm recording. Is there an app for this(Android). I know I could technically use a live streaming service like Facebook live or other Services but I honestly would just like to connect to my pc and store the contents there. Also I know there is services that allow you to upload straight to the cloud but I would prefer to upload it directly to my pc at home.

Kind of a weird topic for the case modding section, but I don't know where else to post this, and seems to fall under "other mods". Please let me know if there's a more appropriate place to post. I'm trying to source a supply of used laptop hardware. My screen is pretty much on it's last legs, and I'm looking to just splice in a new panel. I don't know where I could get one though. I'm looking for a 17.3" 1080p display, preferably 100Hz or higher. Anyone know any online shops that deal in old hardware and used parts?

To jump right to it I am looking for a new phone and I usually a heavy phone user, doing a lot of things on it. I used to have a Samsung Galaxy S7 and destroyed beyond repair. With all of the leaks/opening of the leevee it is safe to assume most likely what that phone will be. A first question I did have is why, why buy the new Pixel 3. Hardware wise, it is almost the same as the Pixel 2 and the changes are mostly minor, especially when you consider they will run the same OS. Obviously the Pixel 3 is still "rumours" but it will probably run the same as the Pixel 2 XL with Android 9. I am curious about opinions compared to the newest Samsung Galaxy S9+ and Note 9. I am tired of all of the Samsung bloat ware eating up CPU and RAM usage and do prefer stock Android. Are there other phones to keep my out for? I won't be getting anything until October-ish, so waiting is an option. I am curious about the Asus ROG phone, because it is pretty cool, but I don't think my significant other would like the RGB back of it, not to mention it would probably be expensive.

Hi. I’ve been looking for a new headset (old HyperX cloud II faulty) and the Rog centurion is currently one of my top picks. However, I would like to be able to use my headset on my iPad, and I can’t really find anything online about this topic. Is there any way that I could use a centurion on an iPad or tablet? also, I’ll mainly be using it on the pc for PUBG and various indie games. iPad, I’ll probably play GD and even some pubg mobile. thanks!

My Moto X play dies at around 30% charge. I thought this was a battery problem hence replaced the battery but the problem still persists. I think this is a software problem as re calibration did not help. Also after the phone dies when I connect the charger to says charging 30% (the phone does not start charging from 0 indicating there is battery power left). My device is around 3 years old and is perfect except this battery issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated to fix the problem. The battery percentage graph looks like, the charge falling steadily until it reaches around 30% then a vertical drop to 0. Thanks in advance.

My desktop is in storage, and at the moment most of my gaming is done away from grid power on an Asus u524uqk. i7 7500u, 940mx 2gb, 12gb DDR3, Win10. Since my laptop is usually charged from either my vehicle or solar, I'm looking for ways to stretch my battery while playing less demanding things like TF2 or GMOD. 300fps is unnecessary on my heat damaged, 60hz IPS panel. BIOS has no power control settings at all, but I enabled Max cpu frequency in Power Options. Using CPU-Z I can see that 1GHz (of 2.7 normal) draws 3.1 of the 15w tdp at full load, while still giving ~okay~ performance. But older games like a big, fast core, not lots of slow ones. Ideally I would turn off one core and leave the freq alone, but I know this isn't my x79 rig. Untouched I can get about 90 mins of gaming out of it. Limited to 1ghz and intel graphics, I get around 4hrs, but at 20-25fps. However if i let the cpu run as normal i sometimes see a single core turbo'd over 3ghz, but only drawing 4 or 5 watts. The hardware should be able to run for at least three hours like i want, more really. It's all just software wasting my power in the background. Is anything possible here, or am I just slightly delusional? Wouldn't be the first time... Anyway thanks, Y'all!

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/08/03/fortnite_security_fears/ Given that this is from a few days ago, I'm surprised no one has brought it up. The Register is reporting that Epic Games will bypass the Google Play store for the Android port, and is planning on providing the game only through their own website in order to avoid the 30% cut that Google takes from in-game transactions (the game itself is free-to-play). This has led to concerns over security, as payments will be processed outside of the secure Google API and will also require that Android devices be set to allow side-loaded apps. Another concern proposed is that scammers will litter search results with fake download links that will lead unsuspecting users to malware. The only real reason given by Tim Sweeney is profit. This is despite the fact that they still have to go through the app store on iOS (which also takes 30%), and that they're currently raking in a lot of money - as evidenced by a massive prize money announcement for competitive tournaments. Though to be fair to Epic, they're not just making profit decisions that benefit them, they're also making ones that benefit the artists who produce in-game digital assets. Given how much money Epic is making on Fortnite, it seems greedy to jump out of the Google ecosystem just to save the 30% cut, while opening up their users to potential malware and fraud risks. Epic better make sure there's no issues with their payment processing system, because the first breach could spell significant backlash against them for this move.

Hello everyone, Just a quick question. Does anyone here have any experience or references with using eGPU enclosures and cards with Sager laptops, and if so, can you provide any information on what system works best?
