So I have a Lenovo y50-70 laptop which comes with a 15.6 inch 60hz TN panel which has a 30pin connector... and I would like an upgrade to a either 120hz or 144hz screen with bright and nice colors if possible (doesnt matter TN or IPS) .. The problem is I do not know how to determine which screen will fit my laptop. Does all 15 inch 30 pin screen fit my laptop or is there other factors? I would appreciate if anyone sends a link of a lcd that can fit my laptop.

Hello, I purchased this LCD panel and driver board on eBay for use in my iMac G3 mod. I just tried hooking them up, and my video is garbled. If I pull the video cable out slightly on one edge, the image corrects itself. Does anyone have any idea of what could be causing this, and how to fix it? I'm almost tempted to cut a wire on the edge of the plug that I've pulled out, but I want to see if anyone else has any better suggestions first. Hello This is my first post on the forum. I hope someone can provide a possible fix. Basically I got an old monitor on sale. I plug it in and it turns on for a few seconds then the screen goes black. Its a Dell E2209Wf is anyone cares. Dell was not at all helpful. The odd thing about this is that the monitor doesn't shut off, the screen just goes black. It can still take a VGA and DVI input (and display it for 2-3 seconds before going dark), which is why I want to try and save it. I speculate that it may be either a something related to how it is handling power, or one or more of the backlights are dead or no good. This later is my speculation as the monitor is like 10 years old (it can still be found online for like $100 but I got it for $20. I also noticed that when the image disappears something stops making noise in the back, but it doesn't all stop which is how I know it is not dead. Any feedback suggestions or input into how to fix this problem would be extremely helpful. Rednamalas

Hi there, I'm trying to build an Arduino PC statistics monitor where my computer's sensors will be used to display and output stats like CPU temperature or RAM usage, etc. (Please see below image to what I aim for) Thing is, based on where I live, I can't really get all the parts needed to build it (as per most popular instructables tutorials) and have to do with the following hardware: 1 x Arduino Mega and Arduino Uno 1 x 16x2 LCD That's all I have. I do not have those fancy I2C convertors, interfaces bla bla. Can someone please help me out or point me out in the right direction please? Thanks and regards, ashinu77

I’m visiting Minsk at the moment (Belarus), and the weather here often drops below 10 degrees C below zero, in such cold, my iPhone XR lcd starts freaking out, and becomes pretty much unusable due to ghosting (worse than E-ink displays, there’s a good 2 seconds of response time). I was wondering if such behavior is normal, and wether I should go and replace the phone under warranty. I wasn’t getting such problem with my previous phone (S8 with OLED).

Recently got a used tv from a friend (Sharp 43n6100u) . Upon turning on I noticed a slight back ring on the left side of the screen. It would appear that too much pressure was applied near the edge at some point. It's not horrible, but still noticeable. Is there anything I can do to fix this or lessen the effect?

Bought a GS63VR from my work, screen was shattered so I bought a new one off Ebay. I was guaranteed a LTN156HL01-104 model but I got a NT156FHM-N41 model (Significantly worse). Currently am returning that one, and bought a 120hz LCD from Amazon (Expected model N156HHE-GA1, got B156HTN05.1) and it came in today. Looks okay, definitely better than the other one, although it is very funky displaying darker colors compared to my desktop monitor, and I cannot for the life of me change the brightness. I think the weird sort of blend of dark colors is because of the brightness, but I've tried drivers and everything the internet has told me to do. Should I just return this screen as well and try to get a better one again..? Anyone who currently has a MSI gs63vr 7rf have any recommendations on the best LCD to get?

Hello All, This is more of a request for feedback on the feasability of what I am considering that more of just a log at the moment though things may change. Backstory: Found a local guy who scraps and/or resells thinkpads of all styles for a ridiculously cheap price and started buying machines from him with the intent to supply friends and family with cheap, reliable computers. Consistently I expressed interest in picking up anything X1 or X series related or even workstation wise like a P50. During one of our transactions I acquired two 1st Gen X1 Carbon laptops for like $20 a pop. One had a bad screen, the other had a damaged power jack and neither were confirmed to work. Swapping some parts around between both I was able to confirm that both are fully working, minus a new jack and a screen. (Specs: i7-3rd Gen, 8GB of Ram, 256GB M.2 SSD) [Both machines ?] -Skipping Forward- Issue requesting help: So the second donor X1 I am now trying to get back up and running and I am having a helluva time finding a replacement screen either oem or compatible that isnt the price of a new machine (close or well over $100). These machines come equipped with a 30Pin LVDS style connector and support a max resolution of 1600x900 and come equipped witth a TN panel that leaves much to be desired (absolutely horrid viewing angles compared to a "good" TN panel. Thaks Chi-Mei.) I've tried purchasing replacement screens from AliExpress that seemed to be reasonable in price only to find a box of bubble wrapped carnage arrive 30 days layer covered in that typical unsavory smelling yellow chinese tape that seems to be everywhere. So, for some god forsaken reason, this particular machine has deviated from the majority of other HD+ 14" screens and has its LVDS connector on the right side of the lid(left side when looking at the back of a panel with "Dont touch" PCB facing you" near the bottom of the board. This style seems to be increasingly hard to find and has me limited to just TN. Proposal: Screens with the LVDS connector on the exact opposite side of the "Dont Touch" PCB are much more plentiful and cheap to find than the alternative but their use would require a longer LVDS cable. Has anyone tried either creating an extended LVDS cable or chopping one up, and soldering some wire inbetween to make it longer? I'd need something like 4" of wire in order to move the connector to the other side of the pcb? I've found some interesting possibilities from toshiba for donor cables that even have the same connection on the side connecting to Lenovos very strange ribbon to whatever you call that pcb based connector. Examples below: So I guess the bottom line is, these laptops are still pretty badass and I'd love to have an IPS screen in them, or for my eyes sake, at least one of the vastly superior TN panels used by dell even in their older latitudes.

I have learnt that OLED TV are self lit and each pixel is self lit, while LCD TVs are backlit. But while looking for a new TV I saw TVs branded as "LED". Does this mean "LED" is the backlight technology. If this is so then is "LCD" branding is dead.

I switched from a TN laptop to a desktop with MVA monitor Benq EW2140 which I keep always at 0% brightness, during the day it's ok but during the night with lights turned off comparing to the laptop, it lights up the room, I also had some pain around my eyes until I got used to it, think probably either because of the brightness or the higher response time, When picking a new monitor in the specifications you always see the brightness as something like 250 cd/m2, but how would I know how low this brightness is when at 0%. or maybe it depends on the LCD technology (IPS, TN, VA)

I have been on a search for a QWERTY computer keyboard where each key is a tactile display screen that can be changed via software. Unfortunately the 2 that I have found are unavailable. My first keyboard choice is from Sonder Design. Each key is a display screen that is tactile and each key can be programmed to whatever layout you would like. They have been in development for years and I emailed them to ask about pre-ordering. They have not returned my email, and I fear they are a dying company. The second keyboard was from Art Lebedev studios. Unfortunately it was discontinued. Even I were able to buy a used one, it has terrible reviews. My question to the community is why there isn't more push from manufacturers to make these. I am in media, as well as bilingual. Having the ability to switch between languages, as well as different key command layouts for different software would be invaluable to me. I sincerely do not believe I would be the only person who would find this useful. I imagine that it is difficult to produce, but unless I am missing something, I think it would sell well. It is also possible I am just not seeing the bigger picture. I would really appreciate anyone's informed view on this. Thanks!

So long story short I can get the Tab S7 at the same price of an S6 cause of employee discount (like 10 bucks difference). I plan on using it for a whole assortment of stuff from basic to pro level (well as much pro as you can be on tablet) I have taken a deep dive through everything I could find about it and the only downside I see on the S7 would be the LCD screen vs the Amoled on the S6 (minus the 120hz that's a plus), but when I look at an ipad pro with it's similat lcd sreen I don't find it bad and seems perfect for professional work as well as media consumption That would basically be my only concern about getting the S7, is it worth it given it's LCD but it beats or matches the S6 in every other spec?

I've been asking this myself since i use my LG C9 OLED as a PC-Monitor. The input lag, pixel response time, contrast, colors are just out of any LCD league. 120Hz refresh rate is standard for nice OLED TVs. To be clear, there are great HDR capable high refresh gaming monitors out there. But they're 34" and cost upwards of 2000,- €. My 55" TV cost 1300,- €. So even the price is very competitive. Why has no OEM released a monitor with 144Hz OLED 27" 1440p or 4K yet? Other than burn-in there is literally no comproomise with OLED. And even that has been adressed very well with recent TVs and is pretty much not an issue anymore for most people. (also see https://www.rtings.com/tv/learn/real-life-oled-burn-in-test) I'll just never be able to go back to LCD screens now. So my question is: Why has noone bothered to release the "Ultimate" HDR-Gaming monitor yet?

Hey there, 2 weeks ago i opened up my laptop to stream a video onto the tv to watch with friends. unfortunatly my screen stayed black as i heard my laptop booting. after a minute there still was no screen and i figured there was a cable unplugged, as i had cleaned out the cooling 2 weeks prior. when i opened it up and noticed that everything was connected. not that weird as i did boot it without problems to test it before i screw it back up. so i tried plugging in a hdmi and vga monitor, wich both didnt have any succes. next i tried my usb monitor but that also didnt go. I figured it was the integrated videocard so i found a replacement online but this gives the same result. as i thought that maybe the lcd was broken but wouldn't share screens before i logged in, i unplugged the LCD, plugged in a monitor and booted it. nothing, so i tried logging in, but it feels like i just cant get in. I really wish i could use it for 3 more years so i can finish my study and i don't need to get a new laptop as i got a fine tower as of last year.

It seems most phones with AMOLED I have seen does not appear to have external damage after dropped, yet they fail! So are AMOLED less durable against drops than a LCD? In most cases with LCDs they actually most be cracked before a failure seems to happen. So what is up with that? Is this a thing or just by chance? O3O

Hello ! I have a Sony kdl-42w705b TV, which i havent cleaned in a while and I want to watch the football game tonight but I dont have any specific cleaner for my TV. Only a couple of microfiber cloths and the cleaner that I use to clean my glasses. Now my question is... Can I use the glasses cleaner to clean my display ? Will it work and will it cause any damage to the screen ? I have read some topics on the matter online, from the looks of it, it wont cause any harm. But I want to ask here just in case Here is a link to the cleaning liquid that I have - http://www.glasses4less.net/hilco-leader-ultravue-gel-lens-cleaner-2-floz-59ml-c2x23093430

Hows it going guys. So I'm building my own snowblind. Now I followed the tutorials as best I could. When the monitor was dissasembled I snipped the wires running from the power supply to the vga board...once one wire cut off the lcd I spliced it back to gather and started on the next wire. The result ended with me having three wires that powered the lcd. Now I hooked them into a molex connector but now I have no display. My mouse is allowed to travel to said second screen and windows picks up a second monitor. Just have no picture. Anyone have any idea. Need some pics or better explanation let me know. Thanks guys

LG Display has signed a deal with Apple to supply both LCD and OLED panels for the company's 2018 range of iPhones, according to a new report by Korea-based Newspin (via DigiTimes). The contract will see LG Display ship around 20 million LCD smartphone panels to Apple in 2018, according to the report, which also puts the number of OLED panels to be supplied by LG in the 3 to 4 million ballpark range, as per previous rumors. In addition, the report claims LG is "likely" to secure the majority of 6.5-inch panel orders from Apple in 2019, which will see the firm ramp up its OLED shipments to 10 million units in the year. LG will reportedly produce the OLED panels for iPhone at its E6 6G plant in Paju, Korea.Apple is expected to launch two OLED iPhones (5.8 and 6.5 inches) and one 6.1-inch LCD iPhone later this year, with the LCD device to be positioned as a low-cost option alongside the two more expensive OLED devices. Apple's desire for both LCD and OLED supplies also comes at a crucial time for LG. The company posted a net loss of 98.3 billion Korean won ($87 million) in the first quarter of 2018, with the prospect of almost doubling that figure in losses for the second quarter.LG's financial constraints also underline the importance of avoiding a repeat of the firm's past OLED mistakes, such as befell its Flex and G Flex 2 phones, released in 2013 and 2015, respectively. Both smartphone displays were widely criticized at the time for exhibiting graininess and variations in brightness, issues which returned in LG's own V30 and the Google Pixel 2 XL in models launched last year. Source : https://www.macrumors.com/2018/07/13/lg-apple-deal-supply-oled-lcd-panels-2018-iphones/ I think this is good for both companies, Apple becomes less reliant on Samsung's displays, and LG gets much needed $$.
