  1. [WARNING - BUILDING IN PROGRESS - TRESPASSERS WILL BE INVITED TO WATCH] - Intro Hello fellas! This is Martin, from Denmark, here! I'll be building a watercooled Haf Stacker, and painting a little NAS server together as a mini bro. My previous case was the Corsair 700D, which was gorgeous, but i wanted something bigger with a lot of space. The choice was between the 900D or HAF stackers, and since there is a lot of 900D mods out there, then i just wanted to try something else. This casemod is called Avalanche. Simply because it is white, big and is gonna be terrifying heavy! I live on 1. floor and almost can't lift it down the stairs alone , even without anything inside it. I plan to live up to the name, which I'll be doing with the watercooling, that'll be themed white and black. Fittings, res etc will be themed white, while the fluid will be black as the best contrast. I will be running hardline tubing and soft tubing in the bottom for draining and easy acces. Cables will be sleeved with white paracord which looks insanely awesome with a twist of black sleeving spinning around it. As of lightning goes, then I took it to the next level and ordered a RGBW Pure White LED strips. With that I'll be using a DX8 Touch controller, which I'll be mounting In a place which is easy to reach, maybe from outside the case or the top of part of it. We also know that a Avalanche ain't no quite thing. So i'll be taking a UE Megaboom as a "built in" soundsystem. 2. Warning: TL;DR at the end. Hi guys! First of all I want to tank everyone for helping me these weeks with my component selection for my next build. After a lot of work and almost burning my brain to ashes I have come across the next 3 possible builds, all of them are around 1500-1600 dollars. I will give a brief preambule of each build and ask for your opinion in which would be the best one. Note: This is only the Core PC, other things such as HDD, fans, keyboard, monitor, etc I will add later. So let's get started! First of all the propuse of my PC is JUST GAMING, pure gaming, nothing more than gaming, I'm a frecuent player of games like WoW and LoL (my favorites in the world) BUT I'm planning on leaving my console rutine and start playing serious graphic demanding PC games. I like Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, Batman, and intend on playing games like Tom Raider and Shadow of Mordor. About the monitor, my intention is to buy a 4K one with Free-Sync or G-Sync, whichever is cheaper (so take that into account when looking at the GPU's), I have always had a standard 1680x1050 21" Samsung monitor so I don't know what things like 144hz, IPS panels, etc feel like, I'm blinded on that side (you know, like Blind Side, blinded on a side, get it? ok ... ) Oh! Another thing I want for my PC is to be enthusiast grade, you know, like powerful components and gaming finishes, etc. First of all, things that all builds share: PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 1000W PSU 80+ gold.- Ok so this might look like a little bit overkill in 2 of the builds but the reasons I went with this is because it only costs 140 dollars and is jonnyGURU certified, which makes it a great deal, I have heard from you a lot of good things about EVGA PSU's, so this seems a good choice, also I want growing room to do 2-way SLI and with the 10 year warranty, it will last through several system upgrades. CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro Series H100i GTX.- The previous H100i has gotten tons of good reviews and thumbs up from all the PC enthusiast comunity around the world, so its succesor, the GTX version makes a lot of sense to me, still have to wait for serious reviews about the cuality and shipping conditions of the unit but I already have my eye on it. Also I'm not going with the H110i GT Because I don't know if it will fit my case (I have a brand new Corsair C70) also, it is out of the market and a lot more expensive, I wanted to keep this build under 1600 dollars. Storage: Samsung 850 EVO Series 250gb.- This SSD has speed and great performance on its side and it is not THAT expensive, for 115 dollars this makes a lot of sense to me and promises to keep my PC fed with storage for the first 1 or 2 months. I'm not adding a HDD now becuase of the 1600 budget limit I self-imposed. Now for each Build! Intel z97 gtx980 - 1,595 dollars http://pcpartpicker.com/p/KPbzsY This z97 build focuses on powerful gaming, the i7 4790k promises to keep competitive in gaming for the next few generations and overclocks like mad (as far as I have read). i5 is not an option for me, though it will be perfect for today, it won't last for tomorrow, saving 100 dollars is not worth having to change processor in the next 2 years... The MOBO is overkill, absolutely, but it is ASUS, it is ROG and it is pretty, nuff said, also the great sound and overclocking features make it worth the 210 dollar premium price (In my humble opinion). The RAM... well it is RAM and it is cheap, end of the story. 16gb is also future proveness and stays within my budget. Now the most important part, the GPU.- well, as far as Nvidia Single GPU Cards, it doesn't get much better than this, This baby will run every game I can hope for and if in the future it stops being enough I can just throw another one in and... What dooes Linus says? Call it a day? I think so... Intel z97 r9 295x2 - 1,670 dollars http://pcpartpicker.com/p/v6czsY Exact same build as the previous one, z97-i7 based. But the big difference here: GPU: AMD Radeon r9 295x2.-As far as reviews, benchmarks and specs tell, this is the most powerful gaming video card on the market. I just freaking love it and the best part: it only costs 630 dollars on newegg!! Price is only 15% higher than the 980 but it will absolutely destroy it in any games that scale with SLI. The thing I like most about this GPU is how exotic it is, a truly enthusiast grade product. What do you think guys? Should I go full overkill and get a beautiful and powerful card just for the sake of PC enthusiast gaming? Intel x99 gtx 970 - 1,542 dollars http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FzmpJx Now things change quite a bit. This build features the brand new x99 Intel platform. I went with the i7 5820k because it is all you can get for less than 400 dollars on this platform. The reasoning behind this is pure future proveness, a 6core-12thread CPU promises to stay within the game for at least 5years (which is the period of time I intend this build to last without any strong modifications or upgrades), It overclocks well as the reviews say but the horrible downside is that it only features 28 pci-e lanes, so no dual x16 SLI or CrossFire. The motherboard is the least expensive x99 from Asus (I'm only choosing ASUS MOBO's because I'm married with the new BIOS). RAM is still RAM even though it is DDR4 so 16gb will be enough for now. And now the GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 970.- All the budget when to the CPU upgrade so little was left for the graphics card (which doesn't make a lot of sense since a gaming PC should take focus on the GPU). But still, the 970 offers great performance for its price and even after the whole wrong specification thing from Nvidia it is still a great card for a great price, also 2 of them in the future promise several FPS increase in games... yes? YES?!?! So that is all folks, I will stop writing before you get tired and close this tab. Thanks for reading and helping! Remember the whole thing about this post is which PC project you like more and why! TL;DR: Build 1:http://pcpartpicker.com/p/KPbzsY Build 2:http://pcpartpicker.com/p/v6czsY Build 3:http://pcpartpicker.com/p/FzmpJx Which one you like most and why? Thanks! P.S. Sorry for bad english, it is not my main language.
  3. I want a decent build mainly for gaming/ Photoshop Lightroom/ streaming. I need good temps and low noise. Thanks for the help This is my second build. CPU — i7-5820k CPU Cooler — Corsair H110i GT RAM — 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws DDR4-2444 GPU — Asus GeForce GTX 980 ROG Matrix or EVGA GeForce GTX 980 Classified Motherboard — Asus V RAMPAGE EXTREME Storage — WD 2TB and Samsung 120GB SSD (Boot and games) Case — Phanteks Enthoo Luxe (Black) Extra fans — (5) Corsair AF140 Quiet Edition Monitor — Asus ROG Swift I will be doing dual sli in the future, and I am replacing the fans on the radiator. This build is all about aesthetics. I will start the build in April/ May. What do you guys think about the build? Should I change anything? Feel free to share your opinion below
  4. Starting of a new project here with my concept of a super space efficient case. It fits/uses the following components: Swiftech H220x 2 120mm fans at the top Motherboard (Gigabyte z97mx gaming 5) watercooled gpu (not decided) watercooled cpu (4790k) pci riser card Vandal switch 1TB hdd + an ssd 4x4GB ram (HyperX Fury) Full size atx psu Would love to hear feedback and suggestions on improvments both on looks and space efficiently? The build will later on in the future be built, so follow up will come. In the pictures is also a size comparison of it, the Air 540 and the prodigy m. Dimensions: 242x310x323 in mm
  5. Just wonder if this is a decent budget build http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/WpDpNG This is my first attempt at this and figured this would be a good place to ask around for advice. I'm trying to keep it cheap and fast but I'm willing to pay up too $1000 and maybe a little over that. If anyone's got any suggestions or improvements feel free to edit the Pc Partpicker and leave the link below or tell me what to swap out for it
  6. Hey guys!! Im starting a budget build for under 1k USD, and this is what i came up with. CPU Intel Core i5 3570K Quad Core Motherboard Gigabyte GA-B75N Mini ITX LGA 1155 Memory Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1600 Storage Samsung 840 EVO 120gb 2.5" SSD GC Gigabyte GeForce GTX 770 2GB Windforce Case BitFenix Prodigy Power Supply Cooler Master 700W ATX 12v Case Fan BitFenix Spectre LED 47.4 CFM 200mm Is this a good build? Im trying to run Battlefield 4 at Ultra or High at 60 FPS Thanks
  7. Hello! This is my first build log on the LTT forum. I'm currently still planning this as i go but I'm working on it almost every day. I have a Cooler Master HAF X case that I am modding and painting. I chose green and blue for the case colors as those are the colors of Nvidia and Intel, and for the fact that my current build is all red with no AMD parts what so ever. Nothing against AMD, i just like the competition better Anyways, I am going with a full water cooling loop (acrylic tubing with green coolant), sleeving the cables (green and black), etc. Everything I possibly can to make this pc build as customized as possible. I already have most of the parts for this as i am 'recycling' my current pc with some upgrades as well. BTW i use my PC mostly for gaming, but i also do video editing / screen recording and 3D design for my 3D printer. Here are my specs: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/7rYqwP I'll have some pictures of the case so far up later today. Thanks for looking! -- EDIT: Pictures posted below --
  8. Hi guys! I have another dream build in store so here it is CPU: i5-4590 CPU Cooler: CM Hyper 212 EVO Motherboard: ASRock H97M-ITX/AC SSD: Crucial MX100 256GB HDD: WD Blue 1TB RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws X 8GB 1600 (2x4GB) Case: Bitfenix Prodigy GPU: Gigabyte Geforce GTX 760 Windforce PSU: Seasonic SSR-550RM PCPartPicker if you want to see: http://pcpartpicker.com/user/gabbdogg/saved/78wCmG Everything will probably be bought in Newegg, or wherever the PCPartPicker site tells me where the parts are cheaper. (If this was actually real ) Suggestions are recommended, and I dont want to exceed $930-950 dollars
  9. Currently im planning on building a PC for my girlfriend and the budget is fairly low (around 420000 CLP // 716.52 USD) and the build has to include a gaming mouse a cheap keyboard and a cheap monitor, and i wanted to show you guys what i have planned so far and maybe get some new ideas Intel® CPU Pentium G3240 3.1 GHz (1150) ------------------------------------------- $44.990 CLP // ~$76.75 USD (...is it gonna bottleneck too much an r7 250 gddr5?) ECS® M/B Intel H81H3-M4 A/L/V (1150) ----------------------------------------------- $36.990 CLP // ~$63.10 USD (PCI Express X16 Gen 2.0 should not bottleneck an r7 250 at all) G.Skill® DDR3 4GB 1333Mhz PC3-10600 --------------------------------------------- $45.990 CLP // ~$78.45 USD Sapphire® Video AMD Radeon R7 250 1024MB GDDR5 -------------------------- $69.990 CLP // ~$119.40 USD (for light gaming at 900p ...we play TF2 and L4D2 together a lot) Toshiba® HDD 500GB Sata3 7200 rpm 32MB --------------------------------------- $39.990 CLP // ~$68.22 USD (she currently uses a 320gb 5400 RPM HDD and has never filled it) Spektra® Case ATX 650w 5851 BS ---------------------------------------------------- $21.990 CLP // ~$37.51 USD (the idea here is to swap the PSU for a 500W PSU that i currentñy have on my system...) Thermaltake® PSU 650w / 12cm 80Plus Bronze Smart ---------------------------- $59.990 CLP // ~$102.34 USD (...and put this one on my system and maybe sell for really cheap the 650W PSU that comes with the case) AOC® Monitor LED 20" E2070SWN ---------------------------------------------------- $57.190 CLP // ~$97.56 USD (cheap 900p monitor) Logitech® Mouse Gaming G400s ------------------------------------------------------- $24.990 CLP // ~$42.63 USD (she really really wants this mouse) Microsoft® Keyboard MS 200 Black USB --------------------------------------------- $9.990 CLP // ~$17.04 USD TOTAL ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- $412100 CLP // ~$703.04 USD So what do you guys think? Any ideas or useful comments? What about buying via internet for cheaper and then paying for shipping? is it worth it? i took the prices from the only (or at least biggest) computer store in my city (Concepcion, Chile) ...yeah, technology is expensive in the south Link to the store https://www.pcfactory.cl/
  10. Well hello guys seeing that many people are posting their personal computers why not me ? To be honest this was my very first pc build EVER! If you wondering why I wanted a PC, well because to be honest i really wanted one. And maybe a little temptation from my cousin who built his own PC. So anyhow i really liked the concept of a PC you can do so many things with it, such as playing games, making music, making movies etc. So during this early time I had gained a massive amount of money from my birthday and i saved it all up for this PC. My money was going to the PC I told myself so I never touched the money until I did tons of research of building/making a PC. At first I was very overwhelmed cause I thought building a PC would be extremely hard and time consuming. After I did tons of research I decided to make a AMD build gaming PC. So here are the Parts. CPU : AMD-FX-6300 @ 3.8 Ghz ( Originally 3.5 Ghz but OC'ed as you can see ) 99 $ GPU : Radeon R9 270 Gigabyte OC Edition ( Very Fancy ) Roughly 200 $ MotherBoard : M5A97 LE R2.0 ( A very cheap/Fancy Motherboard IMO ) Roughly 80 $ HDD : Western Digital Green 2TB ( 5400 RPM ) Roughly 60 $ was on sale. DVD : A LG DVD Read/Write Drive. 15 $ CASE : Enermax Ostrog Series with see through window one fan ) Also fan filters Roughly 50 $ OS : Windows 7 Ultimate with Windows Office/home 2007 < ( Got from my aunt so it was free ) Monitor : Not really a monitor but a VIZIO E320VA HDMI connection PSU : ThermalTake 600 Watt TR2 ( I really like this PSU ) roughly 50 $ was returned or repaired and was on sale. RAM : Patriot Memory’s Viper 3 Series Extreme Performance Keyboard/Mouse : Just some generic brand. Mechanical ( Had previously ) Gaming Controller : PS3 Controller using some drivers enabled me to use my PS3 controller on games wired tho as i don't have a Bluetooth dongle WIFI : USB WIFI ADAPTER BELKIN ( Pretty good ) Scraped from old PC i found Printer : Lexmark All in one printer ( Can scan, Print, Fax etc. ) Free got from aunt Anti-Virus : ZoneAlarm Firewall + Antivirus + Avast Internet protection ( I like this combo ) After getting all the parts I managed to finally build my lovely PC, Kemuri because she is going to be smoking through future. I don't plan on upgrading her anytime soon besides a few extra chasis fans. I would take a picture of my current setup but the camera on my phone is crummy. So when i get a better camera or borrow someones else. I will post a picture but for now thanks for reading !! Rate my build !
  11. Hey guys I'm new to the whole PC building scene and I was wondering if I could get some help from any veterans or experienced eyes. So this is my build right now ( http://pcpartpicker.com/p/YRX43C) what I'm aiming for is 1080p gaming at about 60fps at maxed settings on most games (not trying to max out witcher 3 lol). I've been saving enough money for a pc for about a year, and now with the money saved up I was wondering if anyone could take a look at it and add any comments or anything. Basically I just want to make sure that I'm not making any noob or rookie mistakes with my first build. So if you guys could help me out that would be great! I'm just a poor console scrub trying to make my way into the so called PC master race and if you guys could help me out with this transition I would be forever grateful!
  12. hi everyone this is my build log of my Corsair 500R build i chose 500R as my canvas because this case has lots of potential and as i have surfed the internet only a few (or i think no one) has fully moded 500R before, so here i am fulfilling my second mod (the first one was a fail, it was 300R ) so this is my case i am converting this normal layout to 90 degrees layout SPECS: PROC: Intel i5 4670k MOBO: ASUS Z97 Sabertooth MARK 1 RAMS: Crucial Ballistix Elite 1866Mhz PSU: Corsair VS650 80+ Bronze (650watts) STORAGE: Corsair FORCE LS 120GB SSD Western Digital RED 1TERA (NAS) Western Digital BLUE 500GB CASE: Corsair Carbide 500R http://www.techpowerup.com/gallery/4163.html https://www.facebook.com/ravenraga/media_set?set=a.1104396722910089&type=1 now im cuttung for the back plate where my 240 radiator will be mounted

  14. Things to do New CPU cooler Possibly a watercooling loop? never done this before so i guess it would make a good build log, not sure New case at the moment everything is cramped into a tiny case and it looks like spaghetti Overclocks CPU is clocked at 4.2Ghz Graphics Card at OC preset Monitor at 2560x1440 (1080p native) and 77Hz (60Hz native) Link to parts: Power Supply CPU Motherboard Monitor Graphics Card HDD - really wouldn't recommend Memory Notes I went with an i7 3770 at the time because it was about £30 cheaper than an i7 3770k and the other generations weren't out at the time. When the time comes to upgrade (next year sometime?) I'll be going with an extreme series CPU.
  15. Hi, everyone! I've been wondering how I should build these 3 PCs for a while now, but I always find myself going for the overpriced stuff that kills the build (and budget). So here are some things these 3 PCs have in common: Purposes: Gaming, picture editing, music production and common home work (Microsoft Office, checking mail and browsing). Purposes can scale with budgets. Must have features: Must be able to watch videos on full HD resolution or 4K resolution with ease. Must have features can scale with budgets. Must NOT have features: Water cooling... In all honesty, I HATE water cooling. I don't like maintaining it nor cleaning the PC (I try to do PC maintainance every 1 year ,and a half, or 2) since it's a hassle for me to do. Now for the most important thing... The budgets: First PC budget: $1000.00 Second PC budget: $2500.00 Third PC budget: $5000.00 Not more, but hopefully less. Edit: Also, I think I posted this on the wrong section. Sorry about that, if someone could move it to the correct one that would be cool.
  16. Hello everyone! I would like to begin by stating that this is a work in progress and in no way complete. That being said, I feel like it is ready for some much needed peer review. So without further adieu, hear is the build. The heart of the project is my trusty gaming rig containing an FX-8350 and an R9-290 reference with Kraken g10 watercooling bracket. Both are watercooled with 120mm AIO coolers. 8 gigs of Hyper x 1600 ram, Corsair TX750 PSU, and a Sabertooth 990fx r2.0 mobo round out the rest of the specs. The mediocre hardware is only the beginning though. Over the last two weeks I have been building a custom workstation in my spare time. The project began with a dream I had about 3 weeks ago, then about a week of research went into the design. Based loosely on the Emperor 200/submodels, It features overhanging monitor mounts lifted by an electric actuator, actuator controlled desk area, and a remote pc power button. I still have lots of cable management to take care of as well as some sleeving. Let me know if you have any questions, comments, concerns, or sugguestions! Thank you, Torq47 P.s. Please excuse the mess.
  17. I would like to welcome you all to The Standard. This is a build I have had in the works for a while. Three months of planning and one day of buying have brought me to this. Some parts are new, some are old. Some will be upgraded soon. Some will not. But you will all have to wait and see! First off, let's list specs. Intel Core i7 4790K [4.0GHz, 4 Cores, 8 Threads] Corsair H100i [Push/Pull] ASUS Z97-Pro [WiFi a/c] 16GB Crucial Ballistix Sport [1600MT/s] 256GB Crucial MX100 1TB Seagate Barracuda Gigabyte NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770 Windforce X3 [1189MHz, 7000MHz, 2GB] Corsair Carbide Air 540 [black/Black] Cooler Master Silent Pro M 700W [80Plus Bronze] Now, let me explain here. There will be someone who will have the itching suspicion in the back of their head that I do not need an i7. And for the most part, you would probably be correct. But, I do some stuff that may require a lot more CPU horsepower in the future. I would like to do more BOINC, I am definitely going to be picking up new games which can leverage the extra threads and I do Photoshop work as well. Also, I am looking to run some VMs, so that will come in handy. Next, the GPU. I love it. It does almost everything I need it to do. But the 2GB frame buffer will soon become stuffy and I will need more. So, I have planned in the future to go for dual GTX 970s. Which ones? I don't know yet. Maybe DirectCU II if ASUS would actually do that again instead of STRIX. But that is for another time. To the build, first off, I am happy to have an SSD again. I timed my most recent boot at 4.8 seconds. And to have more capacity there is nice as well, so I can store my most played games there for faster load times. Next, I am happy to have a rig that undeniably looks good. The Node was a nice case, but the build was ugly. As was Mil-Spec. But the Air 540 and it's cable management opportunites allow for a beautiful setup here. But why am I talking about this so much? Let's have some pictures!
  18. For years I dreamed of building my own computer and being able to experience buttery smooth gaming. A short while ago I realized that dream with Red Demon. My previous computer had an i7 860 and a 7770 (upgraded from a 5770). Build Specifications: Intel i7 4790k OC'ed to 4.8Ghz Asus GTX 780 Ti Direct CU II Asus Maximus Hero VII 16GB Corsair Vengeance PRO 2400Mhz Corsair H100i CPU Liquid Cooler Corsair AX860i 80+ Platinum NZXT H440 Kingston 256GB HyperX SSD Western Digital 2TB Black Drive 6x Corsair SP 120 Quiet High Static Pressure Fans 2x Bitfenix Alchemy Red LED Strips Here are some pictures covering post-build and glamour shots. 19. NCASE M1 - High End Gaming, Photo & Video Editing PC Ncase M1 Build Log Hello Forum, I would like to start off by saying this is my second PC build, my old build will be shown at the end of this post. I decided to get a new PC as my old one was starting to get dated and i wanted a smaller system sitting on my desk. The grand total for the build including all the peripherals came to $4850 Australian Dollars. The Specs: Case Ncase M1 CPU Intel Core i7 4790k Quad Core @ 4.0Ghz - 4.4Ghz CPU Cooler Corsair H105 All-in-One Liquid Cooler Motherboard Asus ROG Maximus VII Impact Z97 RAM 16GB Corsair Dominator Platinum 2400Mhz GPU Gigabyte G1 Gaming Nvidia Gefore GTX 980 Storage 2x Samsung Evo 1TB ssd's PSU Silverstone 600 watt SFX OS Windows 8.1 64bit The Peripherals: Display Asus MX299Q IPS Ultra Widescreen Keyboard Razer Blackwidow Chroma Mouse Razer Deathadder Chroma Headset Razer Kraken 7.1 Chroma Mouse Mat Corsair MM200 Extended The Build: All the parts The case Case tear down Motherboard CPU RAM Prepared motherboard Installed motherboard PSU PSU installed Cables installed GPU GPU installed Wired Up SSD's installed I ended up having to install one ssd on both sides as the sata power connector wouldn't fit in between the two ssd's stacked on top of each other. Preparing CPU cooler Hooking up CPU cooler I had to place the water block upside down in order to have the tubes on the left side to fit when screwing the rad to the case. I also decided to put some fan grills on the rad to keep the cables and tubes away from the fins on the rad. CPU cooler installed Sound dampening the front panel Applying fan filters Adding two more fans After testing the system and putting it on load the GPU was heating up a fair amount so i decided to place two more fans on the bottom of the case to bring more air to the GPU. This made a huge difference (10-15 Degrees cooler) Final Product: The Setup: Old Build: My previous build was really good but I really wanted a much smaller, more powerful system Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 3770k @ 3.5 - 3.8Ghz - CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i - GPU: 2x EVGA Nvidia Geforce GTX 660ti OC - Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth Z77 RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance 1600Mhz - Storage: 1x Samsung Evo 500GB, 1x WD Black 7200rpm 2TB, 1x WD Black 7200rpm 1TB PSU: Coolermaster Silent Pro Hybrid 1050 watt Final Thoughts: I hope this build log was informative about the process of how to build in the Ncase M1 as it is a very small case and hard to work in. I am really happy with how it turned out as it is much smaller than my previous PC and much faster in every way, it is also extremely silent at Idle with very low temps.
