So im thinking on getting a Xbox One S (or new) controller and i would like to go with the white version since it matches my colour scheme. When entering the electronic site of the country im currently in, it says that you can only connect this controller wirelessly (my pc doesnt have bluetooth and im not interested in a dongle) I've read and seen on the top of this controller that there is a port for a micro usb cable which allows you to connect it to your pc but i am still not sure if when connecting the controller to the computer it will just charge the controller or if i will be able to use it to play. Second thing that is keeping me from making the order is that even though most people say you can just buy a micro usb cable and plug it in, i've read that there are many types of micro usb cables and one guy said that you will need a type A to B cable to connect the xbox one s controller. I mean, its clear that there is some port on the top of the controller but i just dont know what type of cable i should get and whether it will just akt like a charger or if i will be able to play with it Site with detailed photos of controller: https://www.polygon.com/2016/7/29/12322122/the-buttons-ports-and-thumbsticks-of-the-new-xbox-one-s-controller Site which sells the controller and cables: http://www.public.gr/product/microsoft-xbox-one-new-controller-heiristirio-leyko/prod8220695pp/ http://www.public.gr/search/public/searchResultsSN.jsp?sn.q=micro usb It would be cool if you could check out on whats available. Anyways, thanks for your time and i hope you can come up with something.

Hello, I recently picked up a 1080ti for my new build and have been having issues getting it to display to my 144hz monitor (asus vg248qe) via display port or dual link DVI, second monitor works fine. It worked for a bit last night but now is back to not detecting via either. I've tried updating graphics drivers and a few other things but have not had any luck. I know all the cables and monitors work as I used them with my previous 970. Has anyone had a similar issue? Thank you in advance for any help!

So i have a weird issue with my internet connection when i use my router. it started about two years ago. At this current time i don't use a router i just run the cable from the wall to my pc. If i were to hook up the router at this point it would work fine UNTIL i shutdown or restart my pc. After that computer says i have connection but i can't access internet sometimes i can load a few pages but they do take 10-15 mins to load. but it's very rare that happens. Wifi works fine at all times. If i want to regain connection to internet i need remove the router and do it as i have it now, restart computer and then rehook the router and it works until i restart or shut down computer again. At this point i would love to get this fixed as i want to get the roccat app for a spare phone for a simulator game i play to get more controls so i don't have to reach for my keyboard all the time. I was thinking of buying a new router but i can't see my router being broken as wifi works fine i can restart my phone and nothing changes. and my pc works on cable solid until a restart. Calling my isp and get their help is not an option as my package don't include a router even though i have one of their routers. Was to supposed to be returned but my friend never got the papers to send it back. When this first started i was on a few forums and asked for help and we tried different options. For some reason my ip was changing every time i restarted my computer back then so we tried forcing the pc to have an ip but that did not change anything. Do anyone have any ideas of what the issue might be?

So yesterday all of a sudden my internet went down for like 10 seconds and after that my download speeds were incredibly low and my ping rose from the normal 30 to 80 in games. I wasn't downloading neither was anyone in our house using our bandwidth at all. now i think 80 ping is still playable but on top of that all my games just had weird lag spikes, all of a sudden enemies would start to teleport back and forward in CSGO for example. I still live with my parents so i dont have complete knowledge of all of the stuff related to our connection but i do know the speed is either 50 or 100 mbps (cant remember which) and its wireless. Since we upgraded the connection last year i havent had any issues with it but now all of a sudden its acting weirdly. Using net_graph 1 in CSGO i saw there was no packet loss or choke and my ping did not go up and down. The Speedtest app also said our connection had 0% packet loss. Today when i came back home my donwload speeds have returned back to normal but the lag in games still persists. Ive tried reinstalling CSGO, switching cables and ive monitored our connection to see if anything is hogging our bandwidth but theres nothing special there to be seen. Any ideas what could be causing this? I honestly dont know what i could do anymore to narrow down the problem.

Hello, a few weeks ago i opened a post about the same topic, but since new informations are available and i wanted to explain it more clearly, i've made a new one. So, i build a new computer. I'm running windows 10 and got the msi z270 gaming pro carbon motherboard. The problem is that sometimes when i start the computer, i dont get connected to the internet. When clicking on the problem, windows tells me that the ethernet cable is not connected. Obviously it is. I exchange the cable without success. Recently i RMA'ed the motherboard and since i didnt have the problem for the last ~10+ restarts i thought it was gone. However, when i just started the computer i did not have an internet connection. As i said the problem seems to occur rather randomly. With up to 10+ restarts between the problem happening, it is not a very frequent problem either. Sometimes i can get it to work when going to the ethernet settings in windows and clicking on change adapter settings and then deactivating and activating the connection a couple of times. Since i already switched out the cable and the motherboard itself, what else could it be? I guess if it's not the hardware, then it should be something software related? I'm using the same router and the same plug in the wall to access it as i did with my old computer. Until i got my new computer i didnt have any problems related to my internet connection. So the router and cables in the wall should be working fine too. Could it be something IP related? I believe to remember that my dad had to give my smartphone a fixed IP adress for some reason.. but that was ages ago so i dont really remember what the problem was. At this point i'm really frustrated and dont know what to do anymore. I would be really glad if somebody could help me. Thanks in advance, Fabian

Hello, i'm new here so i hope i'm doing everything right. I'm trying to provide as much information as possible and hope that it's not too much so that people wont read it. Also, english is not my native language, so forgive me any weird phrasings or errors. I just build my new computer. You will find the components used below. Since it was the first build i did all by myself, i ran into a few problems here and there, but nothing i couldnt figure out. I'll list a few of the problems i had, leading up to the one i currently have. I list the others because they may be related in some way. Technically you dont have to read them, but it might help. ------------------------------------ Components Motherboard: MSI Z270 Gaming Pro Carbon Graphics Card: Strix GTX 1080 TI OC Processor: Intel i7 7700k RAM: Trident Z DDR4-3200 (RGB) Case: Phanteks Enthoo Evolv ATX Power: Corsair RM850i (850W for efficiency curve and 0 RPM mode) SSD's: Samsung 840 Series (128 GB), Samsung 840 EVO (1 TB) ------------------------------------ 1. When i first started the pc, it told me something along the lines of "Over current detected, shutting down in 15 seconds to protect your system". After googling the problem, i found out that one possible reason for this was a faulty USB device, and when testing i realised it only happened when i plugged in my mouse. (Tried different ports, different combinations, different usb devices. Only happened with the mouse.) I hope nothing was damaged by this, but if it was that dangerous, the MB wouldnt wait 15 seconds to shut the pc down, right? 2. I used my old SSDs with windows 7 on them. I dont know if you can/should do that, but it didnt really work anyways. Keyboard and mouse were recognized, but everything i could use to get the drivers on my computer (USB stick, temporarily added internal cd drive, internet connection) would not be recognized. My friend then told me it might be that the motherboard is incompatible with Windows 7. Whether that was the case or not, i backed up my files and upgraded (as in, a completely new installation) to Windows 10. This "fixed" the problem since now internet connection and usb sticks and so on were all picked up. By the way, since the CD that came with the motherboard told me that it "Failed to load hardware monitor driver" and i didnt find a proper solution online, i just installed the drivers from their website (since they are probably more up to date anyways) from https://msi.com/Motherboard/support/Z270-GAMING-PRO-CARBON.html#down-driver&Win10 64. However, since i had no idea what i actually needed, i installed every driver i could (some told me they arent working for my system). 3. This one drove me mad and i'm not quite sure if it's gone or not. (I use two SSDs. A small one, C, where Windows is installed on. And a large one, D, where data/games and so on are installed on) So, my build was finished and everything worked well. I installed the drivers for the msi board and went on to install a couple of programs. Everything worked, even after multiple restarts. After then being away for a couple of minutes or so and turning the computer on again, i landed in the bios and C wasnt being picked up anymore. I figured that maybe the SATA cable i used had a defect and switched the cables of my two SSDs. After that i was able to normally boot into Windows as before, just that D wasnt showing anymore, which confirmed my hypothesis that the cable was broken or loose. I turned the computer off and tried to push the cables in better. The next time i turned it on again, the problem was still there. For some reasons i dont remember, i restarted a couple of times. Then i realised that D appeared again, seemingly without any reason since i didnt change anything. At this point the theory of a broken cable still seemed very plausible, until i noticed that now my internet connection didnt work anymore. Windows analysis just told me the cable is not plugged in / broken / loose. I didnt think that was the case, but i changed to another cable anyways and the problem was still there. From now on, when turning the PC on i EITHER had the problem with the internet connection, or the second SSD (D) not showing up. Only one of these problems, and always only one of them (even tho, i only tested a couple of times, so this isnt a definitive statement). This confused me a lot and for the first time i considered that the mainboard might have a defect. All this happened yesterday evening/night. After i turned the computer on today.. both problems "were gone". Since i dont believe in hardware fixing itself, i thought that, to exclude software issues, i'll reinstall Windows 10 again. When i tried to install Windows, it told me that it could not install Windows on that partition (both of them actually). I then googled it and found out that it seemingly has something to do with the way they are formatted. I then looked into the bios of my motherboard and found out that it was set to "Legacy + Uefi" and Windows 8.1/10 WHQL Support was turned off. I turned the latter on and changed to Uefi only (since i read that, when the pc is set up correctly, that's what you should do.) After using the windows setup to format and delte the partitions and create new ones, it worked. So now i installed and updated windows and installed (only) the chipset drivers from the msi homepage. To this point in time (of me writing this) the problems mentioned in 3 did not appear again. However, since they seemed kind of random before i'm not confident that they are actually gone.. which is why i am writing this. For now i dont seem to have problems. I'll turn the pc off for a while soon and see what happens when i turn it on again. 4. This is the current problem having and it might be related to 3 in some ways, which is why i mentioned it. Since i was very suspicious about the problems being gone, i pulled the internet cable out. Obviously, the internet was gone. Mind blown^^ When i plugged it back in however, it wasnt picked up and Windows told me the same thing again (Cable not connected, loose or broken). After restarting the computer however, it worked again. I thought that maybe a driver is missing, so i installed the "Intel Network Drivers" from the msi page, but the problem was still there. To summarize: At this point, whenever i turn on my computer, and do not pull out the internet cable, it works as it should. At least right now (seeing how random 3. behaved). If we can fix the problem of the internet cable not being detected again after being pulled out i will be happy. My biggest fear is that the motherboard might be broken, which is why i included problems 1-3. Maybe i just messed up some settings in the bios, without knowing. I hope somebody here has an idea what the problem might be. Any helpful comments and solutions are welcome. If you need more informations, please tell me. Thanks in advance, Fabian Update 13.6.17 @18:00: No SSD related problems so far. Internet connection seemingly sometimes, but not every time, gone when starting the computer. Update 14.6.17 @03:00 So far no more problems. Also, when i just pulled the internet cable and reconnected, i instantly had internet again. I'm a bit confused.. i didnt install any drivers or change anything else. How can behavior be different now lol? You can still feel free to answer any comment you like. Update 15.6.17 @6:00 It seems the problems of SSD and Ethernet connection are not related after all. Had no issues with the SSDs anymore so far, however, sometimes when i start the computer the internet is still gone. Manually deactivating and activating the ethernet adapter in windows 10 solves this problem, but i feel like this should happen automatically, or the problem should not happen at all.

Hello, My computer says it has a metered connection and this is why I believe my windows updates are always slow and stuck.. I always have to install updates with Windows Catalog (it's such a pain) How do I not make it a metered connection.. first of all what does this mean? I am simply connected to my home internet.. it also says "charges may apply". I actually thought my files were corrupted and did a in-place install.. still my Windows updates get stuck.. today I spent hours looking for the KB code to put in the catalog.. I wanted to die. Thanks!

Hi guys. Basically, as a university student, I don't spend that much time at home. But when I do, the WiFi connection here is bloody abysmal. My parents are still on copper wire broadband (despite the fact that fibre optic has been in our area for years) and the WiFi router is still the crappy Sky Broadband one that was supplied when they got the service like 7 years ago. I believe Netgear were the manufacturer partners at the time. I've tried moving the router closer to the centre of the house. I've tried changing the WiFi channels (router's so old it only uses 2.4ghz) to avoid interference from neighbours (rural area, interference has never been an issue) but I still average about -75dB signal strength with it fluctuating severely. This is with the signal travelling through the floor directly up to the bedroom. It's even bad in the room next door with frequent quality drops and poor speeds. This isn't really affected by the number of devices either. During heavy load the family can have 4 phones, 3 tablets, 2 laptops and my desktop all connected to it at once. However, even when home alone with just my phone and my desktop connected, it makes no difference. Just for completion I'm using an i3 6100 on an Asus z170-p. The WiFi card I'm using is a TP-LINK TL-WN851ND. My operating system is Windows 10. However it's important to note that this issue affects all devices in the house, not just my PC. The connection speed itself isn't bad, about 10-15mbs with decent ping. Checking with a wired connection the quality of the connection is fine, so it has to be the WiFi of the router itself. The issue is most obvious when gaming over this connection. I'm always getting good ping numbers, but my character jitters around the place with severe rubber-banding. If this was my house the solution would be simple (get fibre optic and smash some cat6 around the house) but as this is my parent's house i can't just drill holes in walls or change the internet package and provider. I also can't run a 20m cable downstairs to the router from my PC, so I was curious if anyone had any solutions and can answer the following questions:1. Would my signal be improved by buying an aftermarket router?2. What would the approximate cost be for a worthwhile router upgrade? 3. Would I also need a modem if I upgraded? 4. Would a powerline socket solution work well for my described situation?5. How hard would it be to run a Cat6 cable down one wall to the router below? Thanks for any help you can provide! Even posting this has been a nightmare with the connection!

Hey everyone, I'm using a Gigabyte HD3 Z97 rev. 2 motherboard. I was testing the best spots for internet, and I used my mac from 2012 to test network speeds. In one spot, I got a solid 49 mb/s. I brought my PC down, set it up and got only 25 mb/s download speed. I'm using a Netgear powerline and it is connected to the ethernet port on my motherboard. Is it just because I have a bad motherboard? Or is there any setting I can tweak to fix this decline in network performance? Thanks in advance

for some reason recently by PC will randomly disconnect from the internet for no reason. This has been stupidly annoying as I normally have to download games overnight since my internet is rubbish. I think it's a windows 10 issue since whenever this happens there's no indication on the bottom left of my screen saying that there's an issue. So basically my PC is connected to the internet but it thinks it isn't i guess.

Hi everyone, I'm having an issue with my internet connection and I was hoping someone on the forums is able to help me out. My internet used to be complete garbage (under 1Mbit up and down, 100 ping was normal and continuous random spikes to 1000+) so I switched ISPs, got a new modem and everything regarding the speeds seems fine now. But unfortunately another problem arose, which is these random disconnects that I'm having. I'm just playing a game or doing some work on my PC and my entire connection just disappears (wired and wireless). My PC gives the yellow warning sign. I unplug the power from my router, wait for ~20 sec and plug it back in, and everything seems to work fine again. Until it happens again, sometimes up to a couple of hours later. My setup regarding ethernet is as follows: Downstairs is the ISPs modem, which is wired directly to my router upstairs, which is connected to my desktop PC through ethernet cable as well. My own router is an Asus RT-N16, which I'm using as a switch and as a wifi source (the modem downstairs provides wifi too, but the signal isn't strong enough to reach all the way upstairs). I used the exact same setup at my old place, where it worked perfectly. The only differences were the ISP and the modem they provided, so maybe that's the issue here? The modem I have now is more advanced, so maybe some extra functions are causing problems. I tried plugging my laptop directly into the modem at the moment of a disconnect, which does give me a connection, so the modem seems fine. However, on the day I'm typing this, another disconnect occurred and I plugged the cable directly into my desktop, which still said there was no connection, so maybe it is the modem or the ISP after all. I'm a student living with 4 other students in the same house, so I'd like to avoid messing with the modem too much if it influences their connections as well. Does anyone have any suggestion on what to do here? Thank you in advance.

Hello, so, every time i search for updates with GeForce Experience 3.0 (actually 3.2.0.96) i get the error "Unable to Connect to NVIDIA. Try again later.". Now this has already started when i was still using the previous GFE 2.xx.xx. I couldn't use ShadowPlay and also couldn't retrieve my rig information getting the same error. I felt like Nvidia servers no longer support GFE 2.xx.xx so i updated to 3.xx.xx. Now i can use Share but can't search for drivers. I already reinstalled GFE like a million times and already did a clean removal of all Nvidia things on my PC. (Using the Nvidia driver removal tool "DDU") After reinstalling all drivers and GFE i still get the same error and i don't know what to do anymore. Can anyone help me?

Does connecting to a router via Ethernet have any benefits over connecting to it via wifi? I'm more on the online gaming side of things, so i'm particularly worried about higher ping and possibly lag. Would appreciate the opinions of anyone who has experience regarding this.

Hello guys! I recently started trying out IPv6,and my ISP just updated its VDSL router as well,I hook it up to my new Synology RT1900ac router(connecting WAN through PPPoE),but here comes problem. The biggest is that I can't connect to certain website, like YAHOO!,sometimes even Google, this happens after I hooked it up with the RT1900ac router,I don't know what I've done wrong...(I can ping it,but just can't browse the website through the browsers) I have tried just hooked my VDSL modem(have IPv6 enable as well)and boom!YAHOO,GOOGLE,everything is fine! But when I connect it back through RT1900ac,suddenly it just won't work anymore. If anyone's familiar with RT1900ac,please you must tell me how can I get it work. I have googled and changed my PC's MTU to 1492 and after changing, there's a short period that I can connect to YAHOO,GOOGLE,but then PC changed back to 1500 even though I type the cmd command added store=persistant. Anyone know how to change or set the RT1900ac's LAN DHCP MTU?'cause I didn't find the option anywhere within settings. Much appreciated for any possible solution.

networking Question on connecting device(s) directly into a Modem
NaviOlly posted a topic in Networking
Hello, I have a question regarding multiple Ethernet ports on my modem. So I recently upgraded my internet to Gigabit Plan with Xfinity and picked up myself a new modem. (NETGEAR Nighthawk Cable Modem CM1200) Normally all the modems I have used, all have one Ethernet Plug on the back, to connect to a Router. However, Nighthhawk CM1200 has four available connection in the back. What I want to know if it is alright to connect few of my devices straight into the modem. Are there any pros and cons? Such as security issues? I did trying googling around but could not get any good answers. I have also asked some of my friends and IT Specialists at my job but none were able to provide me with good answers. Thanks for reading and perhaps helping me understand ***If it matters ***Router: Nighthawk X6 R7900 -

Over the past few weeks my PC has been going to “Limited” internet access, and the ethernet icon on my taskbar has a Yellow triangle, this happens 1-3 times a day, and lasts for about 2-10 seconds before going back to normal. Usually i’m just playing a game or browsing chrome and then i get disconnected, and then reconnected a few seconds later. I’ve already done quite a bit of troubleshooting so i’m at a complete loss of what to do. Things i’ve already tried include: rebooting my pc, restarting router, updating router firmware, updating windows, updating bios, doing a ip release/renew flushdns and a netsh winsock reset in CMD, updating network drivers, deleting my network adapter in device manager and then scanning for hardware changes, a malware scan, the windows network troubleshooter, making sure my pc isn’t turning it off to save power, and trying a different ethernet cord. I’ve done basically every type of network troubleshooting i could think of, do you have any ideas?

I got the Sport Red Special Edition controller and I decided to buy a red micro-usb cable to match it. The brand new cable has some problem, when it moves up slightly, it will stop making contact and the controller will disconnect, very frustrating. I have another cable from my phone that works flawlessly, it will never disconnect, no matter what I do. I can't really see any visual difference between the cables, other than the cable that works good seems to have a 1 milimeter shorter connector. Is this a thing, how to look for the right cables to use with the controller?

I have a game controller that works perfectly fine on one of my PC's. It is recognized by the PC and is able to be tested from the control panel (game controller settings shows it). When I connect the same game controller to my newer PC, however, it is not recognized and the game controller settings show nothing. I have copied the same exact drivers from my older PC and tried restarting it in every way possible but it does not seem to work. The PC does, in fact, play the sound when the controller is connected like normal. The controller does not seem to be recognized in-game but for some odd reason, it is recognized by the HTML5 game controller tester (html5gamepad.com) and shows all input from it. Device manager recognizes the gamer controller and does not show it as an unknown device. Any help in trying to get it working is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
