Hello. I'm going to start of with that I'm not a network guru so I might be talking about things I have no clue on how it works. My server has 3 physical network ports and I would like to use one for the host and the other for all the VM's created in libvirt. How can this be achieved? My main network is 10.0.0.1/24, I would like the VM's to run on 10.0.1.1/24. So the plan is that the VM's are reachable by other clients and not using NAT from the host. I also use cockpit so if you know how to do it there then feel free to explain

So i'm planning to move my pc from it's case to kind of a display wall where everything would be layed out on the wall. However it's current config is two 1080's in SLI. What i am wondering is if i were to lay the graphics cards on top of each other (backplate on the wall) and use pci-extensions to connect them to the MoBo, could i possibly connect them in SLI ? I've looked around and it seems the maximum length i can find off the shelf is 4-slot ribbon cables... not nearly long enough. If i were to create my own, would there be some kind of performance drop ? would it even work ? thanks in advance

Hi All Randomly saw some videos pop up about NVLink after I looked at support for my Rift and how people were getting amazing performance in games that I thought no longer supported multiple GPUs. Aside from a little bit of VR, I mostly play Blizzard games as I don't have as much time to just venture to others currently: Overwatch Hearthstone (obviously this one isn't important!) WoW (I believe this is actually supported and confirmed on the site) HOTS My understanding was that SLI/Crossfire no longer worked in pretty much any game apart from Wow, APEX and a smattering of others where devs were putting the time in. I know when people talk about SLI they often just refer to NVLink as SLI out of habit but if you just type "Overwatch NVLink" into Youtube there are various hits with people showing supposedly much greater Overwatch performance, even some benchmarks with 2080TIx2 vs Titansx2, though i believe I read that it wasn't supported. Does anyone know if/have any experience with this and how supported NVLink is? If it's something that will still see reasonable gains (I'm not expecting double performance etc) then for my last PC for a long time, I'd like to go with it. Many thanks!

I searched about this on Google, and all over the place I found about Speedify app. I don't want to use it and there must be a way to do it manually or some other way. Can someone help me with this? I have pretty fair technical knowledge and experience so It'll not be that hard for you to teach me! Edit: I just to do this without using the Speedify/Any paid software software: https://support.speedify.com/article/260-2-wifi-pc

Hello I was wondering if you can use your 2.4/5.0 GHz WiFi card to use the VoIP service. I want to connect directly to my Ethernet port on my FTTP modem but it only has 1 active port for 1 Ethernet connection and so is it possible to use my Ethernet and then use WiFi card as a bridge so I can keep my VoIP connected. Using WiFi Instead of Ethernet. Example Image Here

Hey. I have a network from Xfinity and the modem is in the main part of the house and speeds are great over there. Where my room is though, the WiFi sucks ass. I have gigabit Ethernet to my room - is there anyway to take advantage of that and use a raspberry pi 3b+ as a WiFi access point for my part of the house? Preferably in a way that duplicates settings from my Xfinity modem/router combo onto the pi for seamless connections, but if not possible that's fine.

hoprfully i explain this properly but here goes so ive just moved into a new house (im in australia btw if that helps) and the internet from the road comes into the house in the garage and theres a second port in there aswell that goes to the kitchen. so i have one router in the garage (tplink archer vr600) taking in the fttn connection, and ive also got a server plugged directly into that router. and then ive got the other router (tplink archer vr2800) in the kitchen currently in bridge mode. ive currently got the router in the kitchen having all the devices connected to it but my problem is that i cannot access network shares etc from the server thats connected to the router in the garage. so i guess what im wanting is the have the router in the garage to act as just a modem but also share the network ports with the router in the kitchen. please let me know if you need more details or a network map or whatever

Another curious question of mine, if you have 2 computers on the same network that both have wifi and cat5 connections and you bridge them on both computers.... will you get faster internal speed between the 2 computers or will it just make everything get confused and have issues.

Hey! I'm pretty inexperienced in building custom pc's on my own so i wanted to get some advice. I'm building a setup with two GTX 1080's. One ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 AMP! Extreme and one Gigabyte GTX 1080 Windforce OC. I'm also using an ASRock AB350 Pro4 motherboard. My question is, if i want to put those two in Sli, what bridge size should i get?

I've heard a lot of terms thrown around while looking into this but seems to be that I'm out of my depth here with networking. (not my specialty) I have two Huawei routers. One spare from an old connection (HG8246H), and another that was set up for our wifi last week (HG8245W5). My updstairs roommates can't access the wifi so I'm trying to use the spare to set up an Access point for them with an ethernet cable. Could someone offer some help? Edit: The main issue seems to be that the WAN page doesnt show me anything and doesnt offer any options to create either

Hi All, Is there a way to have an WD MyCloud PR4100 connect to my network wirelessly? My particular situation prohibits an physical connections to a switch or modem router, so I'm looking to see if it's possible to use a spare TP-Link TP-WA901ND to bridge a connection between the NAS and my existing router in another room so i can access my files wirelessly when I'm away from home. Thanks, Lloyd

Hi all, I would like to use my pfsense machine as my router (actually just as a switch) and as a vpn server for remote access. I managed to setup a vpn service on it before and I found out how to bridge multiple LAN networks on different ethernet ports together (putting stuff in any of the 4 extra ethernet ports ends up in the same lan network 192.168.200.0 so the LAN bridging works) but i cant find out how to merge the VPN server into the LAN so that when I connect to the VPN I'm the same LAN network as my NAS that is attached to the LAN. I tried using this solution: https://www.reddit.com/r/PFSENSE/comments/3hql33/configuring_openvpn_bridge_with_local_dhcp/ Below are the settings that should bridge the VPN into the LAN but I cannot reach the VPN server. What am I doing wrong? OpenVPN server settings: Bridge settings:

Hey all! So today I finally got my second 970 to go along with my existing one. Excited as I could be, I opened my case and popped in the EVGA GTX 970 Superclocked ACX 2.0 next to my MSI GTX 970 Gaming (MS-v316) and plugged in the power cables and SLI Ribbon cable from MSI. I turned on my PC and in Windows I went to the NVidea control panel and clicked on the SLI tab. The SLI tab however, told me that I needed an SLI bridge to use the cards in SLI. I turned the PC off, switched SLI ports on the cards, plugged the SLI Ribbon in the other way etc. Tried every possible configuration, even diagonally. Nothing seemed to work. Then I noticed in HWiNFO64 that one of my GPU's (EVGA in the x16 slot) only used 2 from the 8 lanes it had access to, while the MSI one was fine and used all 8 of its lanes. (See images attached) I reseated the GPU's to make sure that they were plugged in properly, but nothing changed. I have no idea what's going on and after googling around on the web I've yet to come across an answer. That's why I'm posting it here. My Rig: CPU: Intel i7-6700k @ 4.40Ghz Motherboard: MSI Z170 SLI Plus RAM: 2x 4GB HyperX DDR4 @ 2133Mhz PSU: XFX PRO850W XXX Edition Semi Modular Storage: Samsung 840 EVO 256 GB Sata Two generic 1tb 7200 rpm disks Any and all help is greatly appreciated, I'm all out of ideas here.

Okay... So I currently go to college in another state and I do most of my work on my custom built PC. It uses an ASUS Z-97 WS Motherboard, 16GB of RAM, a CPU, and most importantly a GTX 970. Now one of my mates here in college is getting rid of his old computer that also has a 970 in it. In fact, it is the same 970 that I have so I bought it from him.. Now I have 2 970's and I can SLI them together. The only problem is, I only have a 4-WAY SLI Bridge (see picture below), not a 2-WAY. My question is, can I just use my 4-WAY SLI Bridge even though I only have 2 graphics card and just not plug in any additional graphics cards into the other two slots? The reason I'm asking this is because I noticed on my 4-WAY SLI Bridge that the connections made to the graphics cards are different depending on which card it is. Some have 2 connections and some have 1. What is up with that? Any help would be appreciated! P.S: I know I could just buy an inexpensive 2-WAY SLI Bridge, but I really don't want to spend anymore money than I need to!

I've tried googling and nothing I can find addresses a situation like this. My apartment complex has wireless service provide by Spectrum but I need my own network for connecting an IP camera, NAS, printer, and sharing files between computers. Currently I just have a separate network that is offline, and connect to it with ethernet (on my desktop) or just switch the wifi (on my Macbook). But I think dual networks on the desktop is creating connectivity problems for games. Playerunknown Battlegrounds has been disconnecting frequently since I started using this setup. It's also a hassle switching the laptop between networks. I'm wondering if I can buy a router that supports bridge mode like the Netgear R6220 and bridge it to the community wifi. The way login works is you select the SSID and then enter a generic password, then your browser lets you login with a username and password assigned to the apartment unit. But it also allows you to log in and grant access to a MAC address. Will a bridge router be able to connect to the Spectrum wifi and allow access through its ethernet ports to the community wifi? Or will the apartment wifi system try to assign DHCP IP addresses to my network? If it works, would I then be able to connect another wifi router to one of the ethernet ports to get wifi access on my Macbook? ******UPDATE******* I decided to try an extender and see if it would work without any hacking. I got a Netgear EX7000. My apartment complex wifi will assign IP addresses to everything connected through the extender. Each of those devices has to be logged in using the username/password just like if it was directly on the wifi. I used it to connect a desktop through ethernet. But I got annoyed with not being able to access the settings page for the Netgear so I exchanged it for a Linksys RE9000. BUT the Linksys doesn't act as a passthrough. It can connect to the community wifi and can check for firmware through the web, but the community wifi won't assign IP addresses to any connected computers. I have no idea why this is or if there's a solution. So that's something interesting... Netgear works with community wifi, Linksys doesn't

Howdy ya'll, What type of hardware runs structural analysis software the fastest? I'm a noob so please explain like I'm 5. I'm specifically curious about running Midas Civil. https://en.midasuser.com/product/civil_overview.asp Some of my complex bridge rating models take as long as 15 hours to run and produce over 100 GB of data. The record in my office is over 400 GBs for one bridge!! The computers at work are powerful-ish with i7 processors and 32 GB of memory and SSDs. If I had say $3,000 to spend could I build a machine that could cut the processing time in half? What would it look like? Would it be similar to a mining machine or 4k video editing machine? Do I need a CPU with as many cores as possible for this type of computing? This is all that Midas provided as far as system requirements. CPU Pentium IV or better performing PC processor (Pentium IV 3GHz or greater recommended) Memory (RAM) 1GB (2GB or greater recommended) HDD Space 5 GB (30GB or greater recommended) Video Memory 128 MB or greater Video Card GeForce NVIDIA type video card recommended (On-board video card is not recommended.) System RecommendationsIn general, better system will make the analysis and software performance smoother and faster. (higher memory Ram, local drive storage, etc.) There are system recommendations : System Recommendations Operating System - 64 bit operating system - If the system can handle GPU, that is even better. HDD Type SSD (Solid State Drive) Graphic Card NVIDIA G-Force Line Graphic card

So I have been trying to extend my houses wifi into my shed for the last few hours but I'm running into one major issue. When I connect my secondary router in bridge mode to my main modem router, the devices operating off of the main one have insane speed drops and intermittent access. I've disabled DHCP and enabled bridge mode on my secondary router. Any response would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.

Hey all, First I am no native English speaking person, so sorry for any weird stuff and typo's in my text. This is an issue that I spend time on every now and then, but with googling alone info is not really viable anymore. So time to post here for ideas and thoughts and maybe find a fix. Good thing is that I don't have to find out what is going on and where to find the cause. I run on Windows 10 64 bit Pro ( Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate before that) with a soundcard from Auzentech: the X-meridian 7.1 2G. This is installed on a MSI X79A-GD65(8D) mobo running on a 3930k. This mobo has no native PCI slots, so I am forced to use an PCIe 1x > PCI Bridge. This is where my problems arise. On my old PC with a PCI slot the card gives no issues, but on my system with the bridge I have 1 thread occupied with system interrupts. Ofcourse thats not how it is supposed to be, but it's not a major dealbreaker since it is only on one thread. It works with this bridge, allthough I had to try several to make it this far and get a working soundcard at all. So not exactly plug and play. My current bridge has even 2 slots and one works, but the other not so much to give an idea about the odd stuff with bridges :). Anyway, trough time I have gathered some info regarding this and tried stuff out. I found out that it had to do with the processes linked to my soundcard and/or sound for windows (like the audiodg.exe), and with Latencymon (or how is it called) I understand that there is basically to much latency for my audio device. So share ideas and thoughts to find a (maybe) possible fix. A few things I was thinking about: Maybe someone has experience with a perfectly working bridge combined with an soundcard? Could it be a voltage issue because of the bridge and the difference between PCIe and PCI maybe? Think this one is pretty far fetched, am no expert. Or my most likely: could I somehow try stuff with latency timers for the PCI? If you have ideas, let me also know the steps if possible. Maybe something in the bios that I overlooked? Let me know and thx in advance for sharing.

Hey guys, So I have two computers in one room but I only have one Ethernet cable long enough too make it in there. I wanted to connect both pc's to the internet. I realized I have my old Telus vgs1432 mode/router laying around and was hoping to be able to run the Ethernet into that and then connect both my pc's and any other devices I setup into it. But I can't seem to get it too work. Does anyone know how I can achieve this and what it's called? Appreciate any help!!

Does anyone know what the latency / ping of a wireless bridge is? The signal will be traveling from the basement to the second floor. (through some walls and a floor) This is more of a test for a friend who can afford a wireless adapter for his computer (but has a spare router) and installing a Cable/ moving the router is not an option.

If a ran ethernet (Gigabit) in to a Windows 7 machine and then bridged it to a second card providing ethernet out to my desktop, would I see a large speed decrease? So I guess the question is would the desktop be noticeably slower getting it's network connection shared from a Windows machine compared to straight from the switch. Googling just pulls up results about shared wifi which I'm not interested in.

This may come as an odd question, but is there any difference between rigid and flexible SLI bridges, other than looks and, well, rigidity? Ive heard some say rigid bridges are "faster", potentially reducing the (not) very comfy SLI stutter, whilst some say theyre identical in performance.

I bought a smart blu ray player that doesnt have wifi to put in my room. My router is located in my office and i cant run an Ethernet cable since my attic and basement are finished. I was looking at wireless bridges and was wondering what the best one would be for hd media streaming from things like netflix and youtube or any other ideas tha would work. My price point is around $50USD thanks

hi. Guys, I recently moved to a new place with internet included since I was using my isp router, I had to get a new one. I went to a garage sale and picked up a cheap router. since I started have been using this router I have experienced lag spikes. I have tested my connection with ethernet, and I didn't experience any lag spikes. the problem with this is however that I can't have an ethernet cable across the entire house.

I'm going to use two EVGA SSC 970 cards in SLI in my case. The pards takes up two pci slots on the case and skips a pci slot on the mother board. So I was wondering if I need to order the the long or short verious on the EVGA SLI Bridge.
