This may seem like a dumb question, but I am looking into soundbars for a new TV, and I was wondering if all soundbars work with all TVs or if since I have an LG TV I need an LG soundbar, with proper cables and connectors. Recommendations are appreciated, but I mainly want to know tips about compatibility. Thanks!

Hi, I'm aiming to build my parents a new PC because their old one is unbearably slow. They won't need dedicated graphics or anything intense - it will be used for video, word processing, excel etc. It will definitely need an SSD for Windows and at least 1TB HDD, and to be upgradable in the future. As I'm a novice to all this, could people please help me with what the build should be? I already have peripherals, monitor, and Windows 10. Thanks!

Hey, I'm building my first PC and was planing on running UnRAID, virtualising Win 10 and running some servers off of UnRAID. I thought I could use the iGPU for the UnRAID console output. Silly me didn't realise that there is no iGPU on X299 CPUs and so there is none on my 7800X. Now I need a really really basic GPU (preferably with HDMI output) but I don't know which to buy. I was looking into the Nvidia GT 1030, just 'cause of fancy pascal architecture and stuff, but it really has more rendering power than I need. Can you recommend something cheap but functional? Thx in advance! ~SaltyPillow

Does anyone know of any basic video editor that allows you to do frame by frame work and basic cuts without re-encoding? I usually use ffmpeg, as it's great, but are there any other options that have a UI?

Hi everyone, I am practicing on Windows Server 2012 R2 since I've never used it anymore. The disks under Disk Management are labeled as basic and yet also appear to be organized in volumes (which would indicate that they are dynamic disks). Any thoughts? Right clicking a disk does not give me the option to convert it into dynamic, and yet under "Type" the discs are labeled as Basic. Thanks for any help in advance.

http://in.pcpartpicker.com/user/Priam017/saved/bpkG3C Check it out. I'll be doing basic stuff on this PC, mostly school stuff, projects, presentations, 3d printing using repertier, and occassionally playing games like FC3, CS:GO. All suggestions/reviews/views/feedback is appreciated. Thanks!!

Hey everyone, So, regular stuff: first time builder; don't know if choices are good etc, etc. Does this look like a good parts list or not? I've tried to find the best prices on reputable parts suppliers but if anyone knows of any cheaper parts or If anyone has any tips specific to this hardware I'll be happy to hear them. I have read some of the "experiences with non techies" and i realize i dont know some basic stuff. For example people were laughing at some dude saying you should use a VGA for the best experience with monitors. But i dont know why thats wrong, i have seen the "fast as possible video's" and "linus tech tips video's" linus, luke and the others make, so im not completly clueless sbout computers. But i still dont know everything, any place where there is somebody that can explain the basics and some of the more advanced stuff? Either in text or video format.

Hi guys, Before I start I’d like to say I’ve been following LTT on youtube (along with TechQuicky and Channel SuperFun for a couple years now and I love how informative and how great the content is. My doner case for this project is a CiT Vantage (Blue Edition) Original Case: Stripped Down: This is the case I used for my old PC, whose guts will be going back into the case after this is all done to be turned into a media PC. The Hardware in nothing to rant and rave about; i5 2400, generic m-ATX motherboard, 1TB HDD, 450W PSU, 8GB 1333MHz RAM This project is mainly for fun and “because I can” but also to give me a little, more specialised, experience using the tools before I started my university degree in September. Initially all I wanted to do was to make a window in the side panel and make fan holes in the top for a dual radiator. Rough shape of the window: Rough position of the new fans: The red rings indicate the rivets which need drilling: (Sorry about the picture quiality so far, at this point my new camera hadn't arrived, so I was using my phone camera) Starting masking off for the new window: Tracing around the old shroud for the shape of the new window: The First Cut: Half Way There: One To Go: BREAK THROUGH!!! After Filing the edges and scuffing the side panel to start painting: Paint Plan: White First: Drilling out the rivets: Back panel off: Two to go before the mobo tray is free: Aaaannnnddddd they’re out: Test Fitting: Time to start riveting: Test fitting with the plain side panel: After the paint had dried on the side panel there was a bit of overspray where I hadn’t applied the tape securely enough (oops!) Now its time to do the window: Top Fan Holes: Adapting the fans: Rivited on the grill and installed the Fans: As said above, I’ve got plans to sleeve all the ugly coloured wires. I’ve also got a plan to make a PSU shroud to, again, make things look cleaner and pull things together. However, this is how the case is going to stay for now, I’ve got an absolutely hectic time ahead of me. But I’ll be back, this isn’t the end of this project of mine. Please guys, any constructive critisism, tip and suggestions are more than welcome. Thanks for tuning in

Amazon: http://geni.us/1IQL NCIX: http://bit.ly/1Rfh2Ue What on earth could I be doing with an expensive Colorimeter like the X-Rite i1 Basic Pro 2? I'll give you one hint - it has something to do with monitors... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Although I'd honestly like to know if I could do some light gaming with it if I hooked up a GTX 950?

Cheap Pc build for storage and basic stuff
kilowillbeyours posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
I would like to build a reliable pc for basic stuff and I wont game on it.It has 1 purpose: keep my files safe and run basic programs(win10,work stuff..).Also the real challenge is that it has to be cheap as possible , budget pc. Also I have my hard drives, monitor, case and power supply.Basically all I need is mobo, ram, apu(maybe cpu if cheaper avaliable) . Also I am from Turkey and we dont have asrock... Here is the shop where I am going to buy stuff : http://www.vatanbilgisayar.com/ -
0. http://downloadmoreram.com/ DOES NOT WORK ITS A SCAM!!! 1. Get the best RAM you can, 1866MHz/CL9 or better! Most boards in 2015 should support up to 2133MHz, weaker CPUs benefit more from faster RAM but you should not pay to much for the RAM sticks. 2. The cast latency(CL) should be lower and not higher! (1600MHz/1866MHz should have CL9 or less, anything above that should only be bought if you are on a budget or do not mind a FPS loss) Holy cookie I cannot believe I forgot that! (I totally knew that!) Edit 25-Okt-2015: RAM MHz affect in gaming with low end CPUs! My tests: (Both MHz & Latency matters!!!) http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/477263-metro-last-light-redux-benchmarks/

Hello, I need some help with a project of mine, I've been trying to find a solution for it for some time but might have found it, but I need some coding help. The code I need help to write is in javascript, I'm going to try to explain. Okey, my goal is to display sensor data on my webserver that comes from my arduino, from the arduino i have the data uploaded/sent by a program/api that is called dweet.io (http://dweet.io/) from here I can get the data by typing in my "thing" name in the browser, but what i need help is to create a easy way to get this data from a javascript file and then display it a bit nicer on my server. On there website there is a lot of documentation on how but i cant figure it out. So if someone knows how this works i would be very happy to get some help.

2things I need to confirm 1st: If I already have Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz. I can't or shouldn't buy a Corsair Vengeance Pro 32GB 4 x 8GB DDR3 2400MHz as an add on to work with my previous RAM, because the speed aren't the same then the new and better RAM would just slow down to match my Corsair Vengeance 16GB DDR3 1600MHz? 2nd: Since I have already bought the 16GB kit of 1600MHz, would it work if I upgrade by buying another 16GB or 32GB kit of the same speed (1600MHz) ?

Ever since UE4 went free to use (you have to pay royalties though) I have been interested in using it to make a game. Before I was interested in the free version of Unity, how ever the free version of Unity lags far behind Unreal in it's feature set. Although there are plenty of tutorials online for free, it seems most of the ones that are good and actually help me advance my understanding of UE4 cost money to view. TLDR: Are there any comprehensive and helpful Unreal Engine 4 tutorials to help people learn to make games in it? An FPS game to be specific, but anything that helps me learn my way around UE4 is good enough.

Basic builds for all needs! But be aware there is better and/or cheaper parts around but this is what I found so I hope this makes it easier for people to know where to start! So I am building a computer for my grandmother who doesn't do much besides facebook, make a few documents here and there and play some games (solitare, chess, e.t.c.) but she also still wants a somewhat nice computer. Her budget is $500-550 USD and I have already made a list that may suit her. Also it would be nice to add a some sort of gpu if possible. Any comments and help are appreciated. So for my dads birthday I am looking at building a new computer for him. I budgeted around $300 not very strict about that exact price. Also I do no need a HDD for this build but would like to include a SSD for him. He would use the computer just for browsing the internet, youtube, quicken, and listening to music. I know it sounds really basic but he likes to have lots of tabs and appkications open at the same time so a little power would be good for him. Here is what I have so far. http://pcpartpicker.com/user/maxar6/saved/gzh8TW

Hello, Lets say I have an input string that looks like this "3-5-2", without the quotes, and I need to separate it to 3 integers a b c so a=3, b=5, c=2. I would search google if I knew what keywords to look for. This might be pretty basic for most programmers but knowing this would solve a lot of stuff for me, thanks!

So I need to write a basic Linux OS - incredibly basic. All it has to do is be able to read SD cards (and run the software on them) and interpret input from buttons. However I have never coded Linux and this is where I plan to start and also I plan to write this in about a day. (Is that possible for someone who only knows basic Linux?). I use windows and I am looking for the best, most intuitive, free software to code Linux on. Please help, Thanks

I just built my first gaming PC. I am mainly a Mac user and I built this PC to use as a "console". Here is my build if you would like to see it (http://pcpartpicker.com/p/nCptRB). I went with Intel because thats what I know. It was easy for me to figure out what level of processor could do what I needed. I am ignorant to what AMD is or can do. Could someone explain their naming convention, what is good, what is bad, so that I can be more educated in my next build or more importantly with the computer I am going to help my friend build. What I know: AMD = Less expensive They aren't Intel Also, if you could point me in the direction for good parts that work with it. My friend is on a tighter budget ($600-$800) and if I could build him a better bang for buck with AMD, I would like to do that. I really appreciate your time for checking out this post. Thank you! Zach
