Hey there. I posted about this issue the other day, but with far less information. After some digging I have narrowed the problem down significantly, but still don't have answer. I have a server PC I run here at home, its a low power system but for whatever reason my old Thermaltake 450w PSU cannot power everything when I have both HDD's plugged in (one is fine). So I use my Corsair CX500M, and on the first boot after installing it works great and runs for several days. After powering down for a night, in the morning the system will turn on, but no display or beeps (integrated video). At very random times it will boot and be fine (although far less successful as of late). Whenever I hook up the Thermaltake PSU its fine. So in order to narrow this down I used both PSU's together. I ended up powering the motherboard off of the Thermaltake PSU, and the CPU and HDD's off of the Corsair. No problem and it ran for 2 days. When I tried it the opposite way, could not get it to boot. I hooked up another motherboard with a different CPU and set of RAM and it was the exact same way. I could even power my old Radeon 7870 off of the Corsair PSU without an issue. The only time it has problems is when the Corsair is plugged into the 24 pin slot. So all of this to ask, is there a possibility that this PSU isn't delivering power properly only on the 24pin cable? Or could it be an issue with the adapter itself? I have considered putting the 24pin adapter from the Thermaltake and putting it on the Corsair, but I would rather not do that if possible. Anyone have some other suggestions?

Just watching the new video about the Surface Laptop 2 and Linus mentioned that the entire laptop industry has a lot to improve on in the camera department. So my main question is well why don't they? We have better selfie cameras in most if not all smartphones released these days that are about the same size as a laptop camera. Is it because manufacturers just don't think people care that much? It's too expensive? Not enough space in a laptop screen (hard to believe)?

PC Specs: GPU: GTX 1060 6GB CPU: i7-4770 3.8GHz RAM: 2x4GB DDR3 Resolution: 1920x1080 Driver version 416.16 I've seen some benchmark videos on yt that have the same specs as me and they are getting around 70-90fps in GTA V with ultra settings, but I'm only getting 30-45fps. My gpu usage is around 80-99% most of the time and cpu usage is 70%.

so, I decided to play the battlefield 5 beta today. And after half an out i gave up and uninstalled it. i dont know what it is but the game just did not feel right the movement the aiming just felt wrong. I had the same problem with Battlefield 1. I compare the last battlefield game that i played the shit out of was 4 which i would say i was good at. But anyway back to the discussion at hand. normally with most games they click after about 10 mins and i find i can hold my own but this despite not doing badly the game felt wrong. So chronologically DICE after releasing bf4 released battlefront 1 and after that came battlefront 2. what i wonder is that they changed something about the design of the engine or (im not a game designer) just something has changed but there is no rhyme or reason to it, it just feels not like i would say a battlefield game plays like.I had the same with COD ghosts that the game felt off and i stopped playing it really quickly when i felt it was not how i wanted it to feel as an example. what did you think? do you feel the same?

To preface, I'm running an i7-7700 and a gtx 1050. So, I'm trying to do a replay of an old favorite, Battlefield: Bad Company 2 (2$ steam sale yay!) and no matter what I do I can't hit 60 fps. The recommended specs are ancient and far below what I'm running. Even GeForce experience (I know, it's crap was just curious) has the optimize slider all the way up basically saying "You got this, kid". And yet when I play I average 45 fps on all settings, low through high, even at lower resolutions. On thing I noticed, my task manager performance window shows me using both my gtx 1050 and intel HD graphics at the same time but not even breaching 50% usage on either processor. Blows my freaking mind. and yes, I know older games can run slower on newer computers due to the massive changes in architecture, but it's only an 8 year old game and it supports DX11. And yes, I disabled hyper-threading, the difference in performance was negligible.

So I bought a computer off craigslist and when I opened it up everything smelled really bad, did not smell like burning rubber or cigarette or any other smoking product it was just a really dirty smell. I spent a long time trying to figure out what the source of the smell was and eventually found out it was the AIO Cooler. Thinking it was the radiator, I submerged the rad in warm soapy water to get rid of the stench and let it dry overnight. The next day to me disappointment I could still smell the awful odor, but not from the rad, I smelled it coming from the tubing. So at this point I am wondering how I would go about getting rid of the odor on the tubing. Any tips would be helpful, thanks.

Hello there! So.. The same thing happened about 3-4 days ago. I was trying to turn on my pc after a week of being on vacation (surprisingly my monitor died in this period too, took it to repair it but they told us it's completely dead which is strange because we didn't touch it for a week????).. Anyways. I tried turning on my pc and got a huge red box. SECURE BOOT VIOLATION The system found unauthorized changes in the firmware, operating system or UEFI drivers. Press OK to run the next boot device blablabla... Upon pressing the enter key I get 'Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key' I tried switching the boot orders up in the BIOS and such.. Nothing works. Windows repair doesn't notice any problems. The only way to get through this is reinstalling windows, which gets rid of my passwords, chrome history and such. Also the drivers. And I don't plan on reinstalling everything in every 5th day. Do you guys have any clues what I should do?? Should I just not let windows download the updates because it seems to cause this error.

I'd recommend checking out the patent. It's a patent, covering the whole idea of identifying the most impactful play of a game and then displaying. by reddit user Eirh Patent: http://appft1.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&d=PG01&p=1&u=/netahtml/PTO/srchnum.html&r=1&f=G&l=50&s1=20180161675.PGNR. so i bought a new used computer from a computer store, he says he runs plenty of diagnostics and tests on everything he sells and ive bought stuff off him in the past and i had 100% good experiences and always got great deals on great stuff there before.. so when he told me it worked, i believed him.. but now that i left the store, and since "all sales are final" im stuck with this computer.. which isnt necesarily a horrible tihng, but still very irritating... it is an "old" server tower.. it has a quad core xeon e5320 in it with 16gb ecc ddr2 5300, a 1gb graphics card, a ssd, and all the regular normal stuff... coming from my laptop to game on which wasnt even half as powerful, this thing has been amazing. running most games on high graphics settings is always awesome.. i ordered another 16gb ram and i ordered dual matched xeon e5450 processors off ebay.. so ill have 8 cores at 3ghz with 32gb ram here in a few days.. but the issue is making me nervous.. is it a bad motherboard? bad memory? there IIISSSS a bad SOMETHING in this computer and i have no idea what. ive ran my own diagnostics on every single thing i possibly could.. all hardware and windows.. it has the latest updates, everything seems to be working perfrectly fine... but then randomly it will freeze up and the only thing i can do is hold down the power button until it restarts.. ive had one other computer in my life that did this, froze up randomly. but THAT computer, when it froze the sound would also freeze and give me a loud repeating sound of whatever the last sound that was playing was.. hard to explain.. THIS computer when it freezes the sound completely cuts off and the screen freezes.. no blue screen of death, no orange screen of death, nothing... but diagnostics says windows is fine (i reinstalled windows and it worked perfectly for 3 days), but then this morning it did it again.. so obviously its not windows.. the memory test brings up no issues.. so then whats left it the motherboard and the cpu.. if its the cpu i dont really care because im replacing it in a few days anyway, but if its the motherboard then im doing nothing but putting all this money into a machine that will always be broke until i get a new motherboard... but if i get a new motherboard im NOT going to go with a server mobo to run high end old parts, im gonna rebuild a whole new computer. which i cant afford, hence the 10 year old "gaming/server" computer im running.. I also do a lot of video editing and music production so this computer WOULD have been perfect... does anyone have any idea whats going on here????? PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello all, So I was playing with my friend last night on PUBG and we were talking about our fps and we realized that his similarly speced system got nearly twice the frames as me. We were both running on 1920 x 1080 and high settings and he was getting 144 fps while I barely managed 75. All our drivers are up to date and i am not experiencing any thermal issues in my system. I will put our system specs down below, maybe that will help get to the bottom of this. Thanks. My PC Specs: Ryzen 5 1600 3.7ghz 16 gb Gskill ripjaws 2400 mhz Seagate Barracuda 2TB 7200 rpm HDD (OS) Sandisk 250 GB SSD (PUBG) MSI GTX 1050ti 4gb (slightly OCed) MSI B350M mobo 500w power supply My friends PC specs: Intel core i7-7700 3.6 ghz Sandisk SSD 500 gb GIGABYTE GTX 1050 Ti 4gb MSI Z370 GAMING PRO CARBON AC LGA 1151 (300 Series) 600w power supply 8 GB RAM

Was doing cleaning on my system and was working perfectly fine prior to disconnecting wires and cleaning out any dust and what not. Put everything back in and connected everything back up and now I see this.. Not sure if something is just causing an incorrect connection or if the graphics card is going bad. Any help/input much appreciated thanks!

Hi guys. I came across a good deal on a 1440p monitor. https://www.newegg.com/global/in/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0ZX6NR5154 I have a not so bad pc that can run games at that resolution right now. I'm not going to upgrade anytime soon. So, my question is, Does running games at 1080p on a 2k or 1440p monitor feel bad?

So, this has been going on for about 3 days, roughly 72 hours. OS in question is Windows 10. Backstory: I have a roughly 9 year old 1TB hard disk drive that I used to store music and TV shows on. Torrent client downloading OS ISOs frequently started giving Cyclic Redundancy Errors, which I gracefully ignored. Roughly a few months back, I started getting gray screens in VLC (TV shows, usually 4k HDR so it was understandable) for read buffering but it gradually worsened right under my nose to the point that the drive is practically trash. I cannot play 80% music/video files. When I use Windows Explorer to navigate to the drive, it takes a good 20-30 seconds to even load the root folder list, sometimes more. The whole time the drive I/O LED stays lit, and task manager reports 100% active time with no data transfer but sporadic 100 KB/s spikes that do virtually nothing. To maintain my activity needs, I simply switched to another drive 2 months back for files that I need to use immediately. But now, all my drives are getting full and I need to replace (no slots left) the faulty drive with a more reliable 6TB surveillance drive (hopefully... please comment too). This is when the absolute worthlessness of the faulty HDD was reflected back on me, with an interesting twist. Since the drive has too many files, I subdivided them into 3 broad categories: Music, TV Shows, and "Everything Else". "Everything Else" copied over just fine, no slowdowns noted, to my surprise. You can see how the Music folder is doing in the screencap I posted. I am scared to think what would happen to the TV Shows folder since that is where it all began. In the beginning, Windows would often run chkdsk on startup and hang for 2-3 hours. However, Windows seems to have given up lately. In the 3 days since the copy process started, I got errors around 3-4 times complaining about windows not being able to read the files. The last time, I chose to ignore the ones that cannot be read and still, no improvements. My guess is that Windows waits till a timeout threshold to abandon files while copying, which, multiplied by over 20k files, is adding up to quite some time. Now for the interesting twist: the reason I explained my drive content composition and my copying strategy in detail is because only media files seem to be affected. 43 GB of "Everything Else" was copied in a flash. While googling, I stumbled upon another post where only media files were affected too. Could this get us anywhere close to resolving this frustrating issue peacefully without having to resort to violence like drilling through the drive? I just want the files.

My buddy has computers, he's always super worried about being grounded so you don't static shock the board... he was even worried about wearing a watch which I really don't understand but ok... and then he comes in with a vacume cleaner to clean out his pc. Which made me go oh god no what are you doing? How do I convince him it's bad besides telling him it's really bad and why on earth do people in general think this is fine? Cause like.... vacumes are super staticy

It wasn't until building an X299 platform in a 4U case recently that i realised just how bad this connector is. On a modern platform like X299, every single connector has been refined to the point where its a pleasure to plug things in, barring perhaps the USB internal header. But then you come to plug in the rackmount case fans, and are daisy chaining a mass of 100 year old connectors together, mashing each one so hard you think you are breaking it, and hurting your fingers to simply unnecessary levels. The technique for MOLEX seems to be wiggle it for an hour or so.... Can we stop using it please ?
