Hello! I am having an issue where no matter the game or program, or whether or not my it is plugged in, my MacBook Air M1 runs at 60 FPS. Games in browsers supported by ARM (no Rosetta), games that don't support ARM (Rosetta). All of it runs at 60 FPS. How do I turn off this limit? Minecraft with Shaders or on lowest settings runs at 60 FPS (nice, but ONLY 60FPS), Krunker.io at lowest and Highest settings 60FPS. My issue is that I would like to measure my machines capabilities against other machines on more than just benchmarks. I also would like to connect higher refresh rate displays and take advantage of my hardware's power.

Summary In the middle of the morning, Siri was updated a bit too early on the backend announcing Apple's next hardware event on 4/20, where we expect to see a new iPad Pro with a miniLED screen, 5G, and an A14X similar to the power of the M1, possibly a new iPad mini, the long rumored Airtags, and maybe even the next Apple Silicon device -- a redesigned colorful iMac. Quotes My thoughts It is quite fitting that this leak saga ended with Apple prematurely leaking the event themselves. Could honestly care less about anything other than the rumored iMacs. iPad Pro with the same rehashed design and an M1? Boring. Call me when they put Final Cut or XCode on it. Expensive Tile clones? No thank you. Apparently these iMacs will come with the M1X, which is rumored to have double the HP cores, making it an actual competitor to high-end Ryzen and, well I would say Intel, but the M1 was already beating intel chips with half the cores. The single core performance on these M1s are already top of the line - even being on par with Zen3. With 8 high performance cores? I seriously cannot wait for LTT to benchmark it. They will also apparently have double the GPU cores. So I think people were saying the M1 had similar performance to a GTX1050? Assuming it scales linearly, wouldn't that make it around the same performance as a 1060 3GB? But my main question about these iMacs is RAM. While this iMac may not be replacing the iMac Pro (only the 23" is rumored for "imminent" release), the 27" definitely is. And it is much more cost effective to have socketed ram than it is to have soldered ram. And then we get to the Mac Pro coming most likely in Mid-2022. If they want to at least meet the Intel Mac Pro, they would have to package 1.5TB of RAM into the SOC. Now its very Apple-like to actually do that and then pass the cost onto the consumer, but sockets would make much more sense, as they learned with the iMac Pro and the Mac Pro (and even the Mac Mini). Is the M1X where we see socketed RAM? But again as for the release date, this is my own speculation based off of other reports that the M1X iMacs are "ready". It is likely they may hold off until WWDC, which has also been announced, but is usually focused on software. Funny how Apple announced WWDC 69 days before the event date, and is now hosting a 4/20 Apple Event. Seems like there could be a joke in there somewhere. Hi! Is there any way to (over wifi/bluetooth) cast audio from my iPhone 7 to my 2019 Macbook Air. It is a weird circumstance, I know, but I want to watch Netflix on my phone but I need the audio to come out of the macbook. It just seems like the stupid thing Apple would do. Thanks for any help!

Summary A mysterious system packing a Core i9-10910 Comet Lake CPU and a (currently unheard of) AMD Radeon Pro 5700 XT with 65GB of RAM has been spotted on an Ashes of the Singularity benchmark score. All data indicates this system could possibly be a prototype for the next generation iMac from Apple. Quotes My thoughts Honestly, I find this a little weird. But I wouldn't bet on the OS support for this system lasting very long. Ah well, whatever apple does, hopefully it will make sense. I recently bought a new oneplus 8T, a phone I've been wanting to switch from my aging iphone se 1st gen. I used oneplus' inbuilt application Oneplus Switch. So I got my photos but there's a small problem, some of the photos, particularly images from my previous iphone 4, have defaulted to the date 1/1/1970 and 2/1/1970 (dd/mm/yyyy). If anyone could help me fix this that would be great :)) I've provided some screenshots in case Many thanks

So i currently have the Sony WH-1000XM3s and have had them for about 2 years. one day i checked out the apple airpod max' because there was a small sale on those, it got me wondering its about 100-150€ more expensive than what i bought my sonys for but if i find a good deal on the apple airpod maxes would they be more worth than the current sonys im using? i have an iphone but i would mainly use them on my PC which isnt an apple product, would i still benefit 100% even if im not using an apple PC? i do listen to music very often especially if i go outside so i would be mainly getting the airpod maxes for music listening.

Apple Silicon took the world by storm with M1, but now we’ve got the next generation: M1 Pro. Are playlist/librarys shared between people or are the on each seperate apple id? Me and my parents want to share an apple music family plan, but my step dad is worried that his playlists could possibly be edited by my mom or I. I couldnt find any information on this anywhere else so I resorted to where I know best. Thanks in advance for any information on this.

dual pc setup Macbook Air for dual PC streaming?
JenTheWeeb posted a topic in New Builds and Planning
So i have a decent-ish self built full AMD PC. Current specs are: - Ryzen 3 1200 - 1x16GB 2666 MHz RAM - MSI b450 mobo (not sure which one NOT the tomahawk) - XFX RX 570 - 1TB NVME M.2 Due to my motherboard's SATA ports not working + CPU being old as hell I'm going to be upgrading these 2 to a - Ryzen 5 3600+ - a mobo that has in built Wi-Fi (I have a really long ethernet cable running through the house) With this upgrade I'm also thinking about starting streaming. However I've already tried to do so on multiple occasions on my current specs, but on games like Apex Legends and Rainbow Six Siege my FPS drops heavily into the 40's and 50's while streaming. I'm also going to be starting my bachelors in Design Communication (its just art stuff + some 3d modelling) so i was planning on getting myself a MacBook Air. Don't plan to do anything much on that besides drawing and some personal projects. So i was thinking, could i use a MacBook Air as a 2nd streaming system for a dual streaming setup with a capture card of sorts? If so, could someone guide me on what i should be doing because i really have no clue about these things and I'm not sure where to find out. If not, would there be a suitable replacement laptop?; - has to be <$1000 - display must be good (sRGB and brightness mostly) - something small and portable (Reasoning behind me getting a MacBook air is I'm not that well off and i need to be careful with money. My family has also been huge Apple people so i ended up with Iphones my entire life and i prefer Apple stuff a lot more generally. The M1 chips performance outdoes every other laptop in the price range and i won't be gaming or anything on that as i already have a PC for that.) -
I have a very complicated and frustrating situation and am seeking advice. During the end of November of 2021, my 2020 MacBook Air M1 started having issues as the back USB/Thunderbolt port stopped working and would not transmit any data (power still worked in this port). After attempting every fix I could think of and chatting with Apple support, I took it to my local Apple store in Los Gatos, California and had it looked at. The technicians there confirmed that it seemed to be a hardware issue and would have it repaired under Apple Care (this machine was only about 6 months old at the time and was well taken care of). I agreed to this after it was promised it would be dealt with quickly and be back in time for me to go back to school after Thanksgiving break. I received the laptop back a few days later from the Texas service center and after a full logic and i/o board replacement (along with the touch id module for some reason) the port was fixed. Unfortunately new issue was now present though. Whenever the laptop was closed for more than a minute and then opened the backlight of the screen would refuse to turn on until the lid was closed and opened again. For some reason once the laptop had entered sleep mode the backlight would not wake with the display when the lid was opened but when a flashlight was held to the screen you could see that the display itself was showing the login page but the backlight would not turn on. I researched this issue more and found many others complaining of it in both M1 macbook airs and pros mostly from December of 2020 and January of 2021 and there seemed to be no indication that a fix had been issued. I talked to apple more and tried a fresh install of Mac OS as well as reverting to earlier versions and trying various updates but nothing worked. The Apple support representative suggested sending it in for repair again and I reluctantly agreed since it didn't seem like something I would be able to figure out. I had a box sent to my house and sent it back off the the repair center and received it back again a few days later (this is now mid-December of 2021) and saw in the repair notes that the entire display assembly and lid of the laptop had been replaced and they claimed the problem was fixed but after trying it again I found the problem was exactly the same as before the repair. Very frustrated at this point I talked to Apple support once again and they asked I bring it back to the genius bar at the Los Gatos Apple store. I did and they attempted to fix the problem there but couldn't figure anything out so offered to do an "in-house expedited repair" where they would overnight parts from other Apple stores and attempt to diagnose and fix the issue at the Los Gatos store. I reluctantly agreed and left the device with them as they promised it would be ready to go before I had to leave to go back to school after Winter break. A week passed with no update from them and after several hours on the phone I finally got through and they said they were still working on it. At this point I had to go back to school and was forced to borrow a family members old laptop in the meantime. A few days later I received a call from the Apple store saying that they were unable to fix the device and would be holding onto it for purpose of diagnosis and would be sending me a replacement laptop. It would be a little bit complicated as I had the 16GB RAM model which are made to order and not kept in stock at any stores. They told me they would start a case with higher ups at Apple to get that started and would call me back the next day or day after with an update on the replacement and an ETA on when I might get it. That was a week ago and I received no such call back. I spent several hours on the phone with Apple support this evening trying to figure out what is going on and was told that the Los Gatos Apple store is closed do to Covid-19 related issues and the replacement process was never started. Additionally I was told there was nothing they could do since the Apple store has custody of my device and until they reopen they can't help me in anyway. I understand that supply chain issues and pandemic safety concerns make this situation complicated but I am running out of options as to what to do and just really need a working computer back. I tried to explain my situation as I desperately need that laptop for online classes and can't keep the laptop I am currently using for much longer but the support rep assured me there was nothing she could do and apologized for the inconvenience. I am really not sure what to do at this point as it has been well over a month with little to no progress made in getting a properly working laptop back to me and I hate to keep complaining to Apple support reps who can't actually do anything. Based on my experience here it seems like there may be some hardware level issues with the M1 laptops and it doesn't seem like anything is being done to properly address this. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Summary Apple has released a new white paper with some more detail on exactly how the private relay will work. They still have no information about who the other CDN partners will be, but based on the description of how the service will work they shouldn't have enough info to be able to track users no matter who they are. They've also shared how the geolocation info will be handled Quotes My thoughts The details here are similar to what we already knew/guessed, but I think it's interesting to read exactly what they're doing and their rationale for doing it. I live in central Europe and thought from the beginning that the location stuff might cause me some trouble with regional content. However the choice of 800 sq km is a good balance. My friends in Strasbourg and Monaghan will still run into trouble, but probably not very much. For now I'll be activating this on my iPad to test and so long as I'm not constantly signed out of everywhere, I'll do it on my phone too. Has anyone who lives in southern Ontario, eastern Maine, Vienna, or some other border area been brave enough to give this a go yet? I am planning to purchase a MagSafe Wireless Charger for an iPhone 12 Pro and a Samsung Galaxy S21. Questions: Would the MagSafe Charger charge the Samsung at 15W or does the MagSafe 15W wireless charging only work on Apple devices? Are there alternative wireless charger that could charge the iPhone and Samsung at 15W?

So I pulled out my ipad today, and got a notification about the new update. It said it had just installed, and I knew auto update was turned off as I was debating waiting for the jailbreak community to catch up to the version I had. So, I opened settings after seeing the notification, opened software update, and bam. The page said no need to update, on the latest version, and automatic updates was turned off still. I find this crazy, I mean why even include the option if your just going to do it anyways. I am a little upset about this. Has this happened to anyone else?

Hello, I'd like to get a tablet, I don't really need it, but I'd like to get one. I already have gaming desktop pc, 6 years old not very portable 15.6" gaming laptop (which I still use for work when I'm not home) and a "small" phone pixel 3a and I'm getting a galaxy s22 soon. As you can see I'm not in the apple ecosystem. I'd like to get a tablet to use around the house, in bed (my laptop gets too hot) and for when I travel or for when I don't need a full pc when I'm around. My main use would be: youtube, netflix, movies, web browsing, social medias and discord, reading e-books and why not some gaming. IPAD MINI PROS: very portable I'd easily carry it everywhere, perfect size for reading, better app optimization than on android, longer support (I guess at least 6 years), cheaper, brighter display for use outside of home, minor but it has better games or better optimized games than android (afaik), center stage (not that important really) CONS: only 64GB (is it enough?), smaller display for media consumption and general use, Ipad OS isn't that well optimized on the Mini in terms of UI sizing, extra money if I want the pen, jelly scrolling, no vanced youtube (goated app I love it) GALAXY TAB S8 PROS: Bigger storage and basically unlimited storage for movies on the sd if I travel, bigger (and good) display is better to watch movies and general use overall, 120Hz refresh rate, you get a pen and a keyboard (but no trackpad, idk how it is to use a tablet with keyboard but no trackpad), you get another tablet that I hope I could sell for 150€ at least, so total cost could go to 480€ but I'd probably get the 45W charger for 45€ so 525€ total (same as Ipad mini), samsung dex can make it more similar to a pc use, better multitasking, better internal camera placement (not that important really), youtube vanced, I have an android phone and I will have a galaxy s22 soon. CONS: Less portable, probably too big for reading and especially out of home like at the beach (what do you think, is it too big?), less bright screen for outside use, worse app optimization (like discord is terrible afaik), less years of support (4 vs the many of the ipad), worse selection of games and less optimized games (none of the famous games runs at 120fps). Considering these things and what products I already own, what would you pick and why? Thanks

Hi all! I'd love your help with something! I don't know much about computers, (But i'm trying to learn!!) and unfortunately my current laptop is starting to give up on me, so it's about time to start thinking about an upgrade. I'm currently working on the 2017 macbook air and I would like to stick with another Apple laptop because....well because of the same reason as everyone else...the ecosystem runs my whole life and I'm not ready to give it up. I'm also living between several cities atm, and so I have to have a machine that can come with me wherever I go. My issues with my current laptop are 2 fold: #1 I'm constantly running low on storage (I only have 70GB available atm, and I'm constantly having to review my files to give me enough storage) #2 When I bought my current laptop I thought I was only going to need it for word processing and other really simple tasks. Now though, I've developed a new love for photography and light video editing and I also have to work with some pretty large files for my degree. These really large files + the 8000 chrome tabs that I seem to have open at all times = one very unhappy and barely functional computer By all accounts, the new M1 Pros are quite good but I want to make sure that my new machine has a little more firepower so that it lasts me for a little while longer than my current laptop did. I've got my eye on the upgraded version of the 14" macbook pro (10-Core CPU, 16-Core GPU, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD) which seems like a pretty good setup! But here is my dilemma...do I further upgrade one of these components to even further "future proof" this laptop? And if I should upgrade a component....which one? I can afford to upgrade any one of the upgradable components on the Mac (Processor, SSD or RAM)....but JUST ONE (i'm not made of money over here ). Because of the issues with my current laptop I'm leaning towards upgrading the SSD (from 1TB to 2TB) or the RAM (From 16GB to 32GB), but I'm not sure if it's worth it and if it is worth it, I'm not sure which one should take priority.... I'd love your advice/thoughts!

I have: Late 2009 iMac 10,1 OS X Yosemite 10.10.5 Core 2 Duo, 3.06 GHz Socket 775 4GB RAM 500GB HDD Obviously I’d max out the memory to 16GB. Thinking about swapping in an SSD for my boot drive. This takes a Socket 775 CPU. The fastest one in that form factor is a Xeon X3380. Does anyone know if I could swap the Xeon CPU into an iMac, or does Apple lock it down, only allowing the CPUs they initially offered? If it is possible would the performance increase be worth it? Would I run into issues with thermals? Is the overall upgrade worth it? This is my old, casual use computer. Browsing the web (lots of tabs open at once), watching videos, etc. I have an M1 Mac Mini for my creative endeavors.

Summary More leaks and rumors of airpods gen three this week. It is rumored that the airpods gen 3 is going to be announced at the October 18th apple event. Pictures of course got leaked before hand and yes I can show you. It will be a mix of the airpods pro and airpods. no ear tips, shorter stems, etc. Dbrand accidently leaked their airpods gen 3 grip case. Yes! the robots have errored! This leak basically confirms the release date will be soon and that the current case leak is confirmed. Currently the pictures for the selling points are airpods pros and that's just a place holder until they get actual pictures I guess. You can currently go an look at their websites and here is a link: Apple AirPods (Gen 3) Cases » Grip » dbrand Quotes My thoughts I legit stumbled upon and even tweeted at dbrand about it and am suprised about it and the fact that they haven't taken it down yet tells me that the announcement date will either be on mondays event or kinda just thrown on to the apple store. Hi there I'm a film student about to finish his degree in film and Tv. I plan on freelancing next year and i need to upgrade my current laptop, a 2011 13 inch Macbook pro with 16gb of ram and a 2.7ghz i7 processor. I don't have a big budget being a student and realistically can only afford the cheapest mac that can get the job done. I was originally looking ay getting the 15 inch 2015 macbook pro with the top of the line processor and 16gb of ram. Now i see that the M1 Macbook air is out and causing all this buzz and i was wondering if that would be a better option. Where i live in South Africa the two choices are around the same price and I'm struggling to pick between the two. I love the idea of having a 15 inch screen and 16 gb of ram with the 2015 mac but wonder if the M1 chip is worth giving those up for? Let me know your thoughts thanks>
