Okay so basically what went down is as follows, i built a pc, i went to buy a windows key off of G2A, then the key woulnd't work as it has been used before (told by windows). then i came across a website 'msguides', so i'm wondering is what they're doing illegal? I mean i tried it and it did work, but am (unwillingly) a 'pirate' now? Or is there something malicious they're trying to do on my pc? Thanks for any response. If anything i'm doing here is off topic not allowed feel free to remove this topic, but tell me first as i have no clue.

So many people talk on here about how you don't have to pay to use WIndows, so I thought a poll might be in order to see - have you actually activated Windows, or not?

Hello i've got a problem: I just finished building my first ever pc and thought that to my microsoft linked windows product key is Windows Pro so i selected windows pro when installing, so here i noticed that the watermark is giving me a significant input delay when playing games, when i open task mgr into processes and turn off explorer.exe the input delay is gone with my taskbar and the watermark. What can i do?

I've got a bit of a weird question, is it possible to extract the OEM key from my old PC, it is a windows 7 key and is present in the firmware according to ShowKey Plus. Problem is, I've already formatted this pc as it had many viruses and installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 and activated with my own key that I bought. Is it possible to change over to the the OEM key in the firmware so that I can use my own key for something else? Thanks in advance.

Hi, i recently reinstalled my graphics drivers and got a message from Windows saying that I need to activate my Windows by going to settings. I tried that and all I got was a error message saying "Something prevented us from communicating with our activation servers. Wait a few munites and try again. (0xc0020036)". I tried some methods from YouTube for activating and getting rid of the watermark, but none of them worked, because my Windows version wasn't supported. BTW my version is a Windows 10 Home. Does someone know how can I activate Windows?

I recently built a new PC, and i currently can’t afford a license key off of the Microsoft website. From what I can understand, i have two options, disable the notification and activation page in Regedit, or purchase one from a third party seller, which I don’t really want to do. So i would be glad if someone would show me how to change the values in regedit. I already know the location of the values.

I had to send in my motherboard to evga for repair/replacement due to a bad usb 2.0 connector. It was a z170 classified k board. I got my replacement board in and now windows 10 is no longer activated. it is a different board due to them no longer having any z170 boards so they sent me a z370. I installed a processor and ram and my hdd as well as my hotswap and esata and when i booted it up it is deactivated. I try and activate it but tells me that it can not and Microsoft is closed. Is there something i need to worry about like getting a new win 10 pro key or will Microsoft reactivate my key with this new mobo?

Is there any way I can bypass the icloud activation lock of an iPhone? I bought an used iPhone for parts and when I received it and turned it on, the phone was fine but I could not get past the iCloud activation screen. Is there any way to bypass that screen or should I just consider the phone useless and tear it down for parts. PS- I contacted the seller and he said that he had no idea whatsoever about the user ID and password.

Source: The Inquirer The fuck? What is wrong with people? I know that there are a lot of shitty things Microsoft has done but does this dude really think he can win this case and get paid for 6 billion USD? I've scathingly criticized Microsoft and Windows 10 for so many things like upgrades disguised as a software update, non-anonymized telemetry and shoving UWP down to people's throats but I think this guy is a swindler and he's just like those people who sues companies for everything like the old lady who sued Apple for bumping a glass wall of an Apple Store and later broke her nose. You guys in the forum, don't pull shit like this please.

Hello all. I have a PC running two separate installs of Windows 10 on two separate SSDs, one for work stuff, the other for gaming. I've been running this setup for almost two years, and the only hardware change was when I upgraded the gaming setup's SSD in October of 2017, both now run on 500GB Samsung 850 EVOs. (I reinstalled Windows 10 Pro on both drives at this time, just to go with fresh installs all around.) Seeing as these were on the same computer, I had used the same product key. This was totally fine until the other day. The gaming install is fine. But the work install now says that Windows 10 isn't activated. When I try to activate it, it says that Windows can't be activated by that product key. The work install is running Windows 10 Pro, Version: 1709, OS Build: 16299.192, if that helps at all. Has Microsoft recently changed something regarding install situations like this? Or do I really need to buy a second Win 10 Pro key, even though they're on the same PC, and are never online at the same time? Your help is greatly appreciated in advance! EDIT: I haven't tied either install to a Microsoft account, as I have zero desire to do so. -------------------- PC Specs: CPU: Intel Core i7 6700K RAM: 32GB DDR4 GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 980 MOBO: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 (Rev: 1.0) With latest firmware) Boot SSD: 2x Samsung 500GB SATA (One per Win 10 install) Storage HDD: Western Digital 3TB HDD Case: Corsair 650D OS: Windows 10 Pro

I recently built myself a semi-decent computer, ive been using it for a while now too. Ive been wanting to activate windows to get all the features but im not to sure about something. Ive been using my computer for a few months now, its accumulated the usual things like games and other media and is in full use with no issues to report. When i finally come around to activating windows, will i have to do a clean install for the activation to work or can i just activate it from within the settings. I was told by a good friend of mine who works with computers that i may have to "start again" as he put it and reinstall windows for everything to go well. I will also be getting my activation key off of kinguin, is there anyone who has had issues with keys off of kinguin, short or long term. If anyone has a better site to get keys from let me know (UK by the way). I understand that i dont HAVE to activate windows and i have been using it without activating for a while, i just want to rid my desktop of the watermark and unlock all of the features and settings.

Alright, so I downsized my build to ITX for college and portability, and I was aware that they tie the installation to a device's mobo and not the installation drive (which, IMO, is how it should be). That being said, I already paid $200 to replace my current version of Win10 Pro to the Microsoft Store, and the damn thing is stuck at the titular message. Apparently, I'm not alone, either, based on the Google searches I've done. Some say that Windows 10 activates itself after a few days, others say you have to contact Microsoft Support, and others' advice involves something with Running "slui 3/4." It wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't for the fact that I paid for the software yesterday that's still not ready to install/renew my license so that damn watermark can disappear and stop taking up so much screen space. I mean, it can't take that long for it to give me a product key to renew my license after a change in mobo...right?

Hey guys, just wanted peoples opinions on this. As I understand Windows 10 works bar the Wallpaper/Personalisation settings and with the addition of a “watermark” if it isn’t activated... So what is the point of buying a license? With regards to licensing does anyone know the restrictions on language packs for Windows 10? Does Windows 10 Home not have support of different language packs? Is Windows 10 Single Language Edition specific to a language or is that only for certain versions such as the Chinese edition?

Hello everyone. Im here because i've recently run into an issue with my fairly new pc and decided to do a reset. I went into the windows 10 settings app and went to recovery and then chose the "reset this PC" option. Since then my computer is working as it should again ,but i ran into a strange issue. In the windows settings app it says " windows isn't activated. Activate windows now." With a link to the activation section in the settings app. However, when i go to accounts, sign in to my microsoft account and click "manage my microsoft account" i can find where it says i have a version of windows 10 linked to my account. It even says in the about section in system settings that i have windows 10 home with a version # and build os #. I try to access the activation settings but all i ever see is the indicator that its loading and it never fully loads and therefore i cant access those settings. If anyone has run into this problem before and fixed it or has knowledge of how to fix this i would really appreciate it if you could let me know how. For the record i did buy windows 10 in the last 2 months or so and still have my original key on hand if needed.

I was going to build a new PC, so I deactivated the OEM key on the old one so that I could use it again. That's supposed to work according to https://whatsabyte.com/windows/deactivate-windows-product-key/. I installed windows, but it wouldn't let me use the key. The error code was 0xc004c060. Does this method work? Does it just take time for the information to update in Microsoft's servers? Thanks

Hi Everyone, I'm a first time pc builder recently installed windows but decided to uninstall Windows again due to the NVidia Control panel not being in the 1st install, so I used the Recovery, then Reset this Pc, keep my files. This allowed my to get the NVidia control panel, however after the updates there is a Activate Windows Watermark. Is there anyway I can remove this, NOTE I have a legit version of Windows, Had looked online and many of the forums I have previously visited have offered no real insight on the issue. I'm open to any suggestions. Thanks in Advance

This did not bother me until I wanted to upgrade to windows 10. Unlike other people with this message I do not get prompts to upgrade windows nor does it show in system properties. Any help is appreciated
