While updating from 20.9 to 20.10, the most recent amd driver on an amd 5700xt, my computer crashed and was unresponsive with a black screen, now my computer will boot properly but won’t display a single thing, not even the bios or motherboard manufacturer’s logo while booting, I’m pretty sure it’s the graphics card that’s the problem but my question is what can I do to fix the cards software without being able to use it? Or what can I do to be able to use it seeing how I can’t get a single thing to display?

I have a rx 580 and wanted to upgrade. I wanted to get the 5700xt because I don't feel like I will need all the power of the 300 series. Do you think my Ryzen 5 2600 will bottle neck it?

Hi can anyone plz tell me if u can have a dual rx5700xt gpu set up bc i feel like for nearly the same price dual rx 5700xt is the same or better than a 3080 because it feels like its cheaper or the same as the price of a 3080. Thanks !!!!!!!!

Hi all, I bought a Gigabyte 5700 Xt OC (revision 1) back in January 2020 but I've had nothing but constant yet intermittent crashes when playing games: cod warzone, Death Stranding, Ghost recon games, Subnautica 1 & 2. Warzone crashes usually only crash the game, whereas crashes in Death Stranding and Ghost recon games sometimes do a full BSOD. I've tried all of the available drivers for it and haven't found one that's more stable than another. I did undervolt + a slight overclock a few weeks ago, which was as stable as anything else I've had. I reset to default settings this morning and cod crashed after 3 minutes of run time. This problem has been going on since I got it and I'm completely fed up. I've tried running everything from max to minimum graphical settings and no luck. Let me know what info you need and I'll include it. I haven't had any overheating problems. It's intermittent too - sometimes cod or DS will crash in less than 3 minutes, sometimes it crashes after 2 hours, sometimes it doesn't crash during a plays session. I use a 1440p 75HZ acer monitor with a second 1080p 60hz on the side. I'm getting my doctorate and use my PC for work every day so I haven't been able to spend a lot of time on the problem, including time-intensive tasks like a fresh windows install. Setup: Ryzen 2600 (no overclock) Asus B-350-F gaming Gskill 3200 16Gb using XMP settings Samsung 960 evo m.2 ssd boot drive + other hard drives EVGA supernova nex650g PSU Windows 10 Things I haven't tried: updating mobo bios resetting ram to default non xmp settings fresh install of windows ? Thanks!

I’ve recently upgraded from a 1080p monitor to a 3440x1440 ultrawide monitor. My GTX 1060 is beginning to struggle and I’m thinking of upgrading before Cyberpunk. The plan was to buy a RTX 2070 super. However, now I find myself considering a 5700xt or RTX 3070 as well. Due to high demand (I live in UK) I’m worried a 3070 would not get delivered to me before Cyberpunk. Which of these graphics cards would you recommend? My current build: i5 6700k GTX 1060 16GB Ram Asus z170 pro gaming motherboard EVGA supernova g2 550w

Hello, This is my first ever post so I apologise if it is in the wrong place or anything. Basically I have built my first PC the other day and downloaded some games, Metro 2033 Redux , Last light Redux and Exodus. 2033 and Last light crash however in safe mode they are playable for a while and then crash. Exodus is another story, it will not get past the first cutscene with Anna and gives me a black screen with a fatal error message. I am on the newest drivers AMD have released. Also I have tried playing State of Decay 2 which gave me a crash with the reasoning being the Physx DLL? Batman Arkham Asylum also would not start due to PhysX however I managed to fix this by manually installing it from the Nvidia website. I have no idea what to do and any help would be appreciated.

I have been building my first PC over the last several months and for the most part things work, but i have a few different issues with stability that i am having trouble tracking down. While i am running dual OS in Windows 10 and Mac OS, i don't believe it is a software/OS issue, i think it may be hardware. Specs are below: - CPU: 9900k (no OC, noctua D-15 cooler) - MOBO: Z390 Gigabyte Designare - Memory: G-Skill Trident Z RGB 3200 CL16 4x16 at XMP - GPU: Asus Strix 5700XT - PSU: Corsair HX Platinum 750W - Storage: - Windows 10 Pro on intel 660p 2TB NVME - Mac OS Catalina on Samsung 970 Evo 1TB NVME Issues i have seen: - When running a GPU intensive game or benchmark in Windows it will run for about 10 mins and then shut off, after a few minutes it will reboot on its own and say that the bios was reset. Games are Ghost Recon and Destiny 2, Heaven benchmark, esports games or other less intensive games run fine. I have tried the following: - Updated to all the latest drivers and windows updates, removed all drivers and re-installed - Cleared CMOS - Since GPU temps were very high prior to crash, over 110C on thermal junction and over 90C overall i suspected that it was part of the thermal issues that Asus had with the strix model and RMA'd it, recently received a replacement and the temps are slightly better, but still have the same crashes, thermal junction still at 100C but overall at 75C. - I was able to increase the time before crash by underclocking in MSI afterburner to 1805 and 12% less power limit, but still crashed - More aggressive fan curves and fans at 100% - Tried with one 8 pin power cord with pigtails to connect to both 8 pin connectors on card as well as 2 cords with pigtails unplugged - card is in slot 2 and can't really try 1 or 3 due to the size of the cpu cooler/running into the bottom of the case - I don't have access to extra hardware to test other components - Wifi on Mac OS generally does not work if 2 monitors are attached to GPU. Wifi on Windows comes through the integrated Wifi on the MOBO and works fine, but is not compatible with Mac OS. I am using Fenvi FV-T919 card and when not using 2 monitors i get 30-50 mbps down, but as soon as i plug in or turn on a second monitor it either has no connection, or has <1mbps down. If i remove or turn off one of the monitors, it immediately goes back to 30-50. I have tried: - putting the wifi card in various 1x or 16x slots available - different wifi speeds, 5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz - i do not have easy access to ethernet or i would just use that, but it does work if plugged in directly to MOBO 1 gig ethernet I assumed that the issues are not related, however i am starting to think it could be an issue with the MOBO slots? or something with power delivery? since both the wifi card and GPU are in PCIE slots on the MOBO? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated, i want to make sure i try to eliminate any other potential issues before i go through another RMA on the GPU

I also wanted to make a new Build again, since my current build was outdated. So i sold my old i7 3770K Corsair Graphite 600T Build to someone who didn't have much money, and I was looking for something else. The perfect time. Unfortunately my wife didn't think it was a nice Case the Graphite 600, it was bulky and huge. She was right, you could never easily take the computer with you, so I started looking for something else. First I had the Node304 in mind, it was also in the WHITE. But you missed the 5.25 bay. When I looked at the Core500 from Fractal Design and also met the requirements, and I was able to build in a DVD burner. That's how the Fractal Design Core500 had become. Everything went smoothly, not really many problems. Attention: 1. In addition, it is advisable if you want to install a GPU card in such a small iTX case? Then use an SFX power supply. Slightly larger power supply and the cables constantly touched the GPU card. 2. It was a shame that I had bought two 140 mm fans of Be Quit, but both fans do not fit in combination with the DVD burner. So it had to be sent back. If you want to build in the fans, you have to remove the 5.25 frame. 3. A vague and stupid problem with the B450 ASROCK Fatality iTX Gaming motherboard is that the m2 SATA connection is on the back. So if your SSD breaks down, you can't safely disconnect part of your build to only remove the motherboard. This is really a failer from ASROCK !!!!!!! Also: I had some issues in the beginning that the screen was flickering. I was on AMD drivers 20.1.2. And on the 21th of January they released 20.1.3 and it solved my issues. I had no more flickering screens while playing latest CoD. My specifications: AMD Ryzen 5 3600X 6x3 Ballistix D4 16GB 3200 Fractal Design SFX 550W Noctua NH-U12S SE-AM4 Asrock B450 Gaming-ITX Red Dragon 5700XT Fractal Design Core 500 Asus DVD-Brenner DRW-2

Ok this is mostly curiosity now because I ended up switching, but a Linus video on the 5600xt made me think things again. the horror. I just had to return an XFX 5700xt THICC III ULTRA due to 3 solid weeks of black screens, crashes, and other software issues. I had zero ability to overclock or even mess with ANYTHING (stock settings ONLY) AND the card struggled to handle even Destiny 2 @1080p/144 on "high" (NOT maxed.) It straight up would not even allow me to open Rocket League... Blah blahBlahblahblahBLAHHH! So the question is thiiiiis, HOW ON EARTH are you guys able to actually use the new Radeon 2020 Software?! I tried everything! I had pro's help me out! And I AM a pro! (Ok sorta pro.) Just, endless software issues even after 3 patches from AMD (who have been trying to fix this for months) and apparently there were a huge number of returns for the same reason, specifically for most versions of the 5700xt. Just a quick note, I was also having similar issues with my old R9 390 8gb the moment Adrenaline 2020 released. the 2019 version didn't have any of these issues. This is actually what prompted the upgrade in the first place. Bleh. System: Msi X270 Tomahawk Arctic (xmp + gameboost on) I7-7700k @ 4.8Ghz 32gb Corsair ddr4 @3200 Nvme w/ win10 pro 1909 5700xt Aorus 1080ti I was really stoked about this line-up. At least I Lucked out and found a 1080ti for $350, got it working inside of 2 hours. (Though if I attempt to over-clock, it crashes pretty quick.) Is it my system? Is it too old? What did I do wrong?

Greetings people! I know I know, the ASUS TUF RX 5700 XT has huge problems, I know, but at the time 400€ + 45€ cashback looked so much of a deal that I didn't even research the card Fast forward to today, and I've RMA'd the card once (and was one whole month without a decent GPU), but luckily I still had my laptop to save me on some needed work. The result of the RMA was none other than another card that was exactly the same, but.... I had some hope left in me! I installed the GPU and low and behold, crashing again! I don't know if you're familiar, but it is a crashing that occurs after intense gaming, or, intense something (even folding crashes my computer). I have two monitors, one DP (turns black) and one HDMI (turns green) and the audio does that "stuck" sound. So far I am in the process of starting another RMA, I will try at all costs to get rid of this RX 5700 XT, but with the whole pandemic situation, things will definitely take longer... Which is why I come here, in search of a solution, or a glimpse of one. I even took advantage of the situation to perform a clean windows install with the latest drivers (20.2.2), but I was met with the same fate of always...

I've never built a computer and only ever used a computer that's already built. I'm going to be using this computer for next year and my goal is to use this for streaming/recording gameplay and also have the maximum preformace doing so. I also want to video edit on it too using after effects and premiere pro. I'm gong as cheap as possible with the best specs you can get. I've taken out all the RBG so I can just go for preformance and not looks. I will also be adding an SSD later. Hey, guys! I'm a streamer (I play CSGO, Apex, PUBG and used to stream them), a small streamer on twitch. I bought 5700XT thinking it would help me with my streaming goals ahead, but it turned out absolute bummer. PC Specifications:- Processor- AMD Ryzen 7 2700 Motherboard:- MSI B450M PRO-M2 MAX RAM:- Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO 8GB Storage:- Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB (SSD) GPU:- AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT PSU:- 500Watts (About 4 years old, but works flawlessly on my RX480) AMD software Version:- Adrenalin 2020 Edition 20.2.2 Recommended (WHQL) Updated the Chipset, and everything I could. So, I bought the gpu from amazon on the first day of sale, back in July. The problems were from the start, thought it was a new technology and it will mature with time. Gave it a month, and it was still same, by this time my RMA time period was over. Even if I wanted to RMA the card, I had to pay around $200 just to return it from India to the Amazon USA department. Therefore I thought, I will keep the card and let it mature, remember by this time I couldn't play a single game, yes; a single game. Constant flickers, stuttering, crashing just on game menu of Tom Clancy's Division 2. I can't even play anything, absolutely nothing. What I did to resolve the problem(s)? I took the gpu and put it in my brother's computer, he has 850 watts PSU, it didn't work. Changed the PCIEx16 to GEN3 in Bios, still didn't work. Tried roll-backing to previous drivers, same as above. Checked if the GPU wasn't placed properly or something, it was perfectly fitted in, but it didn't work again. Tried changing the HZ, my monitor only supports upto 75HZ, so I put it down at 60HZ, still it didn't work. The temperatures of the GPU were at normal 30-40, because I couldn't even a play any game, or put some load on the GPU to actually raise the temps, so they were normal. The PSU cables are actually not daisy chained, they both come from two different cables, 8 and 6. I don't know what to do with the card, I bought a $400 gpu and can't even do anything, can't play game, nothing. Please, if someone can help me out, I'll glad to do something with the gpu, phew! Here's a video, with my current desktop status, and Wattman settings, and winver. https://youtu.be/w0sz8-mbYJg

Lets go with the long full story as those are great for troubleshooting Ive had a r9 280x gpu for almost 5 years now, Ive decided to upgrade for a few reasons: 1. to play DOOM (because vulkan stopped working for an unknown reason and now i have 2 fps instead of the old 100.) 2. to play the new DOOM 3. one of the fans stopped working (the one further from the pcie) 4. VERY high gpu usage in some games (ck2, tomb raider) and therefore its loud So my 5700XT arrives. I go to r/AMD into the troubleshooting thread and ask what now, someone says it should work fine but clean driver reinstall is best. So I follow a DDU guide: download latest drivers, turn off windows autoinstalling drivers, go to msconfig and restart into safemode, run DDU then turn off, unplug pc, swap the gpu, turn on pc. It is in safemode again. I check to see what the DDU did, I cant see any changes, the driver files are still there. So I look for everything with "radeon" in it and go deleting. I delete: 1. the radeon-software-adrenalin files in c/amd 2. the same files in c/amd/packages/apps 3. the same files in c/amd/packages/drivers 4. some pf file called RADEONSETTINGS in c/windows/prefetch 5. many strangely named (example: 54ae5f4ad2f1...) qmlc files in appdata/local/radeonsettings/cache/qmlcache Then I try to install the latest drivers(20.4.1), Error 192 - cant install cos limited capabilities or something, welp, looks like its cos safemode. So I go to msconfig again and do normal boot, restart and here I am in normal resolution, frowning face windows did an oopsie. It restarts, frowning face windows did an oopsie It restarts, frowning face windows did an oopsie It restarts, something about backup, I go to advanced options, advanced boot It restarts, I select 4.) safe mode It restarts, here I am in safemode again, where I began all those minutes ago, I try drivers again, same error, so I restart, what else to do? It restarts, frowning face windows did an oopsie It restarts, frowning face windows did an oopsie even before I saw the normal resolution It restarts, normal resolution, no crashes, stable, hmm, so I enter PIN and here I am, everything magically works. I can finally install the drivers, so I do, it works. New interface, 2020, whatever. All´s good. So like the idiot I am I restart my pc one final time. It restarts, frowning face windows did an oopsie It restarts, frowning face windows did an oopsie It restarts, safe mode again, after a few seconds of functioning however, crash It restarts, something about backup, I go to advanced options, advanced boot It restarts, I select 5.) safe mode with networking It restarts, here I am in safe mode again but with internet this time. I check my files: 1. win10-radeon-software-adrenalin is there in c/amd 2. nothing in c/amd/packages 3. no RADEONSETTINGS but 3 new pf files in c/windows/prefetch , RADEONSOFTWARE and RADEONINSTALLER and WIN10-RADEON-SOFTWARE-ADRENALIN 4. no qmlc files whatsoever 5. some new files in c/amd/CNext The same fan still isnt working (unless I spin it myself, making new thread for it, this is too weird), gpu is lit up but not being detected by device manager (neither are the drives tho) So I go to linusdroptips for advice as I always do and here I am writing this, what now? Keep restarting until it magically fixes itself again? If there is an issue then it will just break again with the next re-boot. So fellas, what to do? edit: update, After downloading a missing dll file called atiadlxx I managed to install the latest stable driver and use the pc for a few hours until it crashed again. After about 7 more crashes and restarts I got back and noticed that the driver wasnt working at all, it didnt launch at startup (after reading logs i figured it was the driver trying to start up that was causing the crashes) and it couldnt even be launched any other way. So I installed the driver again and it worked. Until another crash of course. One of my theories is that windows is faulty (supported by the missing dll file) so I ran sfc /scannow which found a few corrupted files. That didnt seem to fix anything at all so I ran ddu and amd cleanup again and tried to get the latest optional (20.4.1) drivers again but had a corruption during the install. Tried again and got the atiadlxx.dll thing again. So I replaced it with the downloaded one and it installed but kept crashing. I have now put in my old gpu (280x) and its running fine on these (20.4.1) drivers. The crashes Im getting keep having the WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR which is a hardware failure so can it still be a windows issue or is it a faulty gpu? Truly Advanced Malfunctioning Devices. edit2: Update 2: So, I have reinstalled Windows according to this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldqFdcGL1X0 which allowed me to keep all my everything still here. I then deleted the windows.old folder with the disk cleanup tool and restarted to be sure. While it is not a "fresh" install that would wipe my whole entire drive, even if I did such a thing I would still redownload everything that I have on here so it wouldnt change a thing. There is nothing unessential on my PC. So what now? Do I try to put in the new GPU and see if it works? I have noticed that the RADEON files in c/windows/prefetch are missing so perhaps my drivers wont function as they should. Do I do the whole driver wipe again just to be sure? edit3 Update 3: So I istalled the latest chipset drivers and then used DDU again to reinstall the gpu drivers again. It went fine without a hitch, functional PC afterwards. Then I turned off the PC and put in the new GPU. Booted fine, everything functional. I ran a benchmark for Tomb Raider, 333 avg fps on highest, lovely. Ran it again, same thing. I noticed a strange sound coming from the GPU at high load(TR was pushing it to 100% at all times). Will put in the recording of this sound. You can hear the fans a bit altough in reality theyre not that loud but the sound Im referring to is a high pitched one that almost sounds like torture, maybe coil wine? While I went to listen to it in another room, the crash happened. Blue screen WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR as always. Looks like it wasnt Windows then. The only possible issue remaining is the BIOS, Ill try to update that next. The motherboards website says to get the "all in 1" drivers but isnt that just the chipset+gpu drivers? I have those already. Will post results at some point within the next 24 hours. gpu recording audio.mp3 edit4: update4: I updated the BIOS, the black screen after the restart was very long and I was starting to get worried but it eventually booted up. When I clicked on the up-pointing arrow in the bottom-right corner of my screen to see whether my drivers were running I was once again met with a blue screen PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA or something along those lines. Okay, new type of an error, I´m going somewhere, after a restart however, all was fine. IT WORKS! It has been stable so far at least, if this were to change I´d certainly come back and update the post. My PSU fan is making some strange noises , there seems to be some metal clacking in there which was kinda fixed when I turned the pc back up as it has been laying on the ground for the last few days while I was constantly swapping the GPUs. Vulkan issue wasn´t fixed, DOOM is still a broken mess running at 60fps with OpenGL, pretty sad considering I was gettin 100fps with my old card back when Vulkan worked but oh well, I sure hope the new DOOM Eternal works with Vulkan or I can´t imagine how much fps I will get in that one. Another nitpick: the GPU fans dont spin unless I´m playing a game which is a little concerning as according to radeon software the card still runs at almost 50°C. Its even hot to the touch, the backplate that is. I will look into changing this so they are always spinning even when idle, they are extremely silent and even while gaming the cpu fan is still louder. A strange thing (bug?) also, according to device manager my gpu is at 40-60% usage while watching a video or stream but radeon software says it isn´t being used at all.

So i have a pretty janky rig, i5-4460 12Gb ddr3 1600mhz, Intel 4600 iGpu, an Asus H81M-Plus Mobo, I am looking for a new gpu that can live for a while, i have been looking a lot and i have narrowed my choices into 5 gpus: RTX 2060 RTX 2060S RTX 2070 RTX 2070S RX 5700XT I have heard some people say 2060 is not ideal, so i might not go for it. Also, the rx 5700xt has 2 version, either the asus strix, or gibabyte. The gigabyte is cheaper by $26 I am not sure what to go for, the 2070 super might not be a good price for me. Way too much in my country. About $761. So thats not in my plans. i just want someone to list what gpu i should look at in order, if i don't like it, i will go onto the next one. E.g: Rtx 2070 then 5700xt (asus or gigabyte), etc

Should I upgrade my CPU (2700x) if I am planning on upgrading my Graphics card to a 5700xt? What about the 3070? If I need to upgrade for either, would the 3700x be sufficient? or if there a bottleneck somewhere else? Thx - FireEagle Current System: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MGYkXb

Took about 3 hours start to finish (including Windows install). Got POST on first attempt too! That made me proud. Had my 9 and 10 year old sons helping me with the install of pretty much everything in hopes to teach them that it is a process and hoping that they learn to care for it since they had a hand in building it. For those curious about the 500gb SSD and 2tb HDD combo, that came down to a price vs storage amount issue for me. Total after tax and shipping for all pieces was around $2,000 USD.

I have been having issues between the 5700 XT and my Sound Blaster ZXR. Ill be listening to music or watching Youtube videos on Firefox Nightly or Google Chrome. The audio just randomly starts cutting in and out to the point Ill have to restart the computer or change the optical media format in the Sound Blaster control panel. The same thing happens with Kodi as well but those are the only applications that it happens to. I never had the issues with the GTX 750 or the RX 580 I had, only with this card I have run into this problem. Is anyone else encountering this issue and can anyone help?

Hi all, So as the title. My GPU is an XFX 5700 XT Thicc III, and when I try alter the fan curve in MSI Afterburner nothing is happening. I've had a google and it seems like this is a more widespread issue with 5700 XTs; however I cannot find a solution apart from a BIOS update which I'd rather not do, as I don't want to accidentally brick the card. So is there any solutions? If I have to change software to something else then that would be fine, but ideally I'd like to sitck with Afterburner. Finally, everything is new and fully updated (apart from maybe the BIOS) Specs are: Ryzen 5 2600 MSI B450M-A Pro Max 16GB Corsair Vengance LPX 3000mhz (2x 8GB) XFX 5700 XT Thicc III Win10 Home

Hey there, Im sure this has been posted about before but has anyone found a solution to low clock speeds on AMD? Im wondering if its drivers but playing Arma 3 my GPU is at like 1000mhz or lower and the utilization % is just shit. Im playing 720p on an old family monitor till I get a new one and the fps is like 30-60. Should I try downloading an older driver?

Im planning to get a Thicc 3 Ultra 5700xt and a ryzen 5 3600 with the corsair cx 550 watt 80+ bronze. Do you think it's enough to handle the gpu and OC it too?

Upgrading from an XFX R9 390, just bought an XFX RX 5700 XT III Ultra and it isn’t being detected by my motherboard. I’ve tried: · Removed and reseated the card · Tried 2 out of the three PCIe x16 slots (it’s too big to use the third) · Updated the bios (it’s now up-to-date) · I don’t have another system to test it in · I don’t think it’s a psu issue I’ve got a 650w psu, it should be enough · When I check the bios it doesn’t appear at all · It doesn’t appear in manager · It isn’t detected by AMD software · The LED indicators are blue, which I’m pretty sure means it isn’t a power issue I’m contemplating returning it but wanted to make sure I haven’t missed anything. I’d rather not return it if it can be helped. I have both the R9 390 and the 5700 XT in the rig at the moment. The fans spin in the 5700 but that’s all. Any ideas?
