  • Biography
I'm a student in the UK at university at the moment and have become really enthuiastic about PC building in the last year. I've always been a gamer but I now have a love for what makes the games run. My PC is obviously constrained by my student budget but I am proud of it and will continue to upgrade it throughout the Haswell series of CPUs, when they release. First upgrade needed though is a graphical one for the release of Star Wars 1313.

  1. I have refreshed the loop a bit and changed out the fluid just over a year after the initial one was completed. Pictures will be coming over the weekend but I have dropped the blue in place of Mayhems Orange Pastel coolant. Full cover block on the CPU/Motherboard and an inlet at the top of the res instead of at the bottom. Standby for pictures
  2. Haha, I usually have the RGB/UVs set to Red, with the UV on. Makes the fluid glow and the orange blends really well. But its all personal preference. I like the colours
  3. Hello everyone, thanks for checking out my new build! No build log here just the finished article. Let me know what you think, what I could have done better, what I did right etc. It is my first custom loop. Mostly EK fittings, a few Bitspower. The parts list!!! 4. It is the pressure issue. However I have not had to take the entire rubber insulation from EK out. Only the central bit and then some loosening of the block. This combined with flashing to 0932 has fixed my q-code 8 issue. I will be flashing to 1001 as suggested by Evanair as I have also seen the thread on ROG.ASUS regarding this BIOS version. Essentially it states same as 0932 but with support for higher, if less stable, RAM speeds. I'll update again when I am on 1001 with results. Thanks edit: For the record my waterblock is connected to a 360mm rad and is currently the only component cooled by it. I'll be adding a 1080Ti block as soon as EK release one that doesn't have TITAN X engraved on it but I'll also be adding a 280mm rad so will still have plenty of head room for temps.
  5. I've had / I am having similar issues to the ones detailed here. I'm about to update my BIOS to stable 0902. My issue originally was with the EK Supremacy EVO waterblock. The rubber insulation for the backplate was exerting too much pressure on the socket. Removing the central piece of rubber solved this. This is however contrary to EKs instruction for AM4 installation but is in line with installation on intel platforms. Now however I appear to get a different socket related issue. Aura LEDs come on when PSU is turned on however I get no boot at all. Q-Code just shows as '8'. Slightly loosening the CPU block solves this issue. However that a pain in the ass removing the tempered glass side panel each day. Hopefully the BIOS update resolves this issue. My temps so far have been fine though. ~25-30C idle and less then 60C under load so far. No overclock yet. Getting it all stable and then I'll push it.
  6. 1. Comment below listing the following specs of your PC: Rig name: Obi Wan Cpu: i5 3450 @3.1Ghz Gpu: ASUS GTX 970 Strix Ram: 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz Score: 5.8
  7. Just submitted my application on RSI as I have finally bought myself a package.
  8. My opinions on Vessel: For people who don't like it, nothing changes. You get all your content in the same way as before without change of delivery, timing or quality. The move to Vessel does not effect you at all so I do not see it as a problem. For those of you that want Vessel, give it time. Its very very young as a platform. The free subscription window is, I think, an attempt to get members to aid the sale of advertising, so they are a young platform. They have a better video quality and system then YT had not too long ago with fewer resources. We get a year free now, a year is a long time and the platform could mature a lot in a year. For now, if you don't mind the lower quality videos then you can watch them early and help support LMG in a move to diversify their earnings and increase their security as a company so they continue expanding and continue making content for us for free if you want it to be.

  10. If I win this it will become the centre piece of a new build I will be doing with my tax rebate in April!
  11. A banner on the LinusTechTips website informing LinusTechTips viewers about a LinusTechTips campaign. Y R U SO EVIL?? Its absolutely fine, put anything you like in the top banner. I do not feel strongly against a company who provides free entertainment and a free access community using advertising of anykind. Looking forward to the campaign. Just hope I have a job so I can contribute. NB: Potentially the worst time of year to do a crowdfunding campaign would be now. Christmas is coming up for all the Christmas doing nations.
  12. is it map specific? I get some poor frame drops on certain maps (not that I could tell you which ones). But it will be fixed I don't doubt. A patch and a new driver and it will be fine.
  13. My favourite thing about the 900 series, including these cards is the price/performance of the 970. Its so lovely compared to the last few gens. And I am soon to be in a position where I can afford one as well!!! Thanks for the giveaway!
