Alright...so i got this system from somebody i used to work with to see if i could repair it(wouldn't boot...like at all) they didn't need it back immediately so its still sitting in my room. I cleaned the thing out(it was dirty...like really bad) put new thermal paste on(cuz idk) and checked all connectors...no boot. I used my core 2 duo/quad machine(had an upgrade during this part) to test all the components of the system that i could... graphics card...good. dirty psu...good. HDD...good. ram...good. so now i'm looking at the mobo and cpu(amd Athlon 64) but i cant test either to find which one is broke...I'm not that well versed on amd's cpus, so how much do you guys estimate it to be to get a used processor and mobo that works with the rest of the system still? DDR2 667 ram BFG Geforce 7600 GT OC 480watt PSU Sata HDD Pata CD/DVD drive(WITH LIGHTSCRIBE!!) low end asus heat-sink if necessary

You need to upgrade then fresh install as far as I know...

Corsair K95 RGB with Brilliant Brown switches...had it for a few months and still have a tendency to bottom out the keys...

completely agree on the 4460 going from dual core to quad core will help immensely in a majority of games.

If he gets a non-gaming Kb and mouse he may even have enough left for a 120GB SSD...

Agree with everything except the mouse. I have no problem with razer, or that mouse, It's great. You may want to get a combo with a mouse and keyboard to save a few dollars and maybe have enough extra change to get an SSD, or preferably upgrade to the 4460.
