  1. find out what aspects of a headphone to you is important. tonality is usually the most important for most people but people also have different preferences for it. I like the harman 2017 treble with the linear in room bass instead of the shelf but probably most people prefer it with the bass shelf. some people prefer a different target entirely like diffuse field or free field but i think harman is the safer bet if you dont know. once you figure out this is usually the easiest to determine about a headphone since there are many people who use rigs to make measurements and theres lots of data to compare different headphone's frequency response curves. or see how they compare to a target. then theres things like detail retrieval, soundstage, imaging, dynamics, speed, timbre. this is much harder and you will need to try the headphones for yourself or find a reviewer you trust and listen to their impressions.
  2. if you just want more bass you can try EQing in some extra bass. a proper eq program like eq apo will get you more control than some bass boost option
  3. idk when you say the company only needs a few hundred people but then you need those people to work 12 hours a day or else the company is going bankrupt then it sounds to me like the company needs more than that amount of people. on top of expecting them to work 12 hours a day elon demonstrated he has no respect for the engineers or what they do and would fire them if they disagree with him so sounds like hes the one bringing in a toxic workplace
  4. Ive heard differences in dacs but its very minimal and a lot of people say its the analog preamp section of the dac that's making the difference. I'd personally prioritize an amp upgrade before the dac.
  5. i heard them at canjam and a bit too warm for my taste. the LCD5 isnt to my taste either but i think i prefer the lcd5 overall
  6. yeah maybe its from it bleeding into the mids. https://github.com/jaakkopasanen/AutoEq/tree/master/results/rtings/rtings_harman_over-ear_2018/Corsair HS60 PRO SURROUND try downloading eq apo and putting in the parametric eq settings
  7. probably best to do it with a proper eq software like eq apo. also its possible that the headphones dont have headroom for a significant bass boost without resulting in a ton of distortion. also it looks like it already has an um healthy amount of bass
  8. decibel weighting. the amp db rating its probably a flat rating across the frequency spectrum im not sure might depend on the amp architecture. but when you apply db weighting it might not be 85dba or dbc or dbz. i dont really know how each of the weighting work. also human hearing isnt the same sensitivity across the spectrum at 50hz it needs to be like 50db before you can even hear the sound
  9. id recommend trying the headphones if you are able to. but i would personally go with the he400se since I seem to like the characteristics of planar headphones and i really liked the sundara. but some people complain about them lacking dynamics and having unnatural decay
  10. its durable, has nice soundstage. but it also has sharp treble for a lot of people
  11. which is why i specified temporarily lol. i was at work from 7am-9pm yesterday so cut me some slack. on a side note salary is a scam its just an excuse for bosses to make you do unpaid overtime
  12. https://www.androidauthority.com/twitter-sms-2fa-3234698/ I feel like you should consult with the programmers before you just start turning off services but I guess maybe he fired them all. Hopefully this and the blue checkmark fiasco teaches him to be more careful and listen to advice from people that understands how stuff functions better.
  13. theres some sony tws that will get multipoint support https://www.theverge.com/2022/10/25/23423007/sony-multipoint-earbuds-bluetooth-announced-wf1000xm4-linkbuds
  14. yeah idk i tried the JPS lab superconductor cables which are like 2000 dollars on my diana phi at canjam and didnt really notice a difference
  15. maybe it has a terrible potentiometer. a lot of potentiometers are known to have channel imbalance at low volumes
  16. theres places still selling it but after it sells out probably no more restocks
  17. the old utopia is 4000 new utopia is 5000. there isnt a ton of difference just slightly reduced treble with the new utopia
  18. imo the lcd5's treble is a bit recessed for me. maybe its not as bad as their other headphone but yeah personally not my thing compared to headphones like the susvara, utopia or even the clears
  19. i recommend you try out other things also. i didnt really like the tonality of the lcd5 when i heard them at canjam i actually prefer the lcd-x over them. yeah different people different preferences and i know i prefer brighter headphones. but when making a big purchase like that some due diligence is always good
  20. it depends on the distortion characteristics of the driver no? also its much easier to eq things down than up. targets are individual so even if you personally dont like a target it doesnt mean headphones tuned to the target is bad. headphone wise i personally prefer the 2018 harman treble with the 2013 harman bass but i also know im a bit of a basslet compared to most people and most other people prefer the 2018 bass shelf. also the harman in ear target is shouty to me and i prefer the VSDF target but i know plenty of people who love harman tuned iems
  21. https://www.techpowerup.com/review/edifier-stax-spirit-s3-planar-magnetic-wireless-headphones/ I talk with the reviewer VSG in audio communities so I know he is at least invested in the hobby and he comes across to me as pretty knowledgeable. but ofc as with anyone his personal preferences etc affect his impressions
  22. what about other color matching systems like RAL? What makes pantone so dominant?
  23. people are saying just dont bend the cable but idk depending on your case it might be impossible to route the cable without some bending
  24. ive heard other people say that but isnt some of their best headphones made after the merger? like the k371 and k361
  25. never heard them but the FR looks like something id like and the main complaint seems to be soundstage which im not too bothered by. and i loved the clear OG
