I’d get the new card based off the vram. Though I’d prefer an fe 10 series card over any noisy fan version.

rtx 3080 Ethereum Mining and RTX 3080 VRAM Temperatures
Mick Naughty replied to TheRedManX's topic in Graphics Cards
First I’ve heard of a temp issue. Aside from crappy cards like msi and such. Better airflow always helps. Wouldn’t worry about it too much. An overbuilt card like the nvidia cards will be more than fine. I’d just run the fans faster if it’s an actual issue. They will last the lifespan of the card. -
Crypto mining profit calculator
Mick Naughty replied to Eliesb's topic in Folding@home, Boinc, and Coin Mining
Why does it matter? You’ll get what you get. Comes down to the miner as well as they all have different dev fees. Then market value. Why not just average them all and base it off that?- 13 replies

Running as intended. If running at stock and stock speeds it’s gonna do as designed.

Overclocking memory for Ethereum mining. Is It safe?
Mick Naughty replied to Hullwood2's topic in Graphics Cards
Did you check how high it needed to be to achieve that rate? Can prolly be a lot lower. Stress is stress, all that matters are the temps. If the card doesn’t have probes, prolly just best to go off the core temp and under volt.- 4 replies

Not sure of your location but the new smart meters are being swapped into houses throughout the states. Can watch in on that or even get the app to watch it there. Normally run my cards at 70-75% power. Normally take a 3 h/s loss with dropping the power but still overclocking the cores. Normally saving 50-75 watts outweighs the hash loss. Even more drastic for multiple cards/rigs.
-
Everything will effect hash rate. Clocks and power. You do it via the miner or a gpu controlling program such as precisionx or afterburner. Undervolting won’t change the lifespan compared to stock. That comes down to temp. But you also have to understand lifespan and not compare it to forever. You run the card for what’s best for power/temps to performance ratio. Plenty of videos on the balance for each card.

Bios can be modded. Kinda to late if it’s only gonna work on all the low end stuff. I guess it would be nice and all but like I said, that’s just gonna make it muc worse for all current and un effected cards. As mining cards aren’t a real option. Not going off the specs released. Especially compared to the p104’s 108’s etc.

It could have used fresh tim prolly 2 years in with heavy gamer use. -
Weird fan behavior on idle with a EVGA GTX 1080 Ti
Mick Naughty replied to VSTOLL's topic in Graphics Cards
Was precisionx used? Is there any system usage that’s congruent with the spike ie: opening a web browser or program. -
Doubt the driver will lock anything out. Plenty of ways around that. And no miners will be buying those crappy cards. Unless they are very, very cheap and they somehow cut the tdp in thirds. So I just imagine all the current cards being bought up even with bad pricing to leave nothing left for all the supposed gamers.

They will all be the same. If it’s the blower you can use the guide. 980ti, 780, even 1080 will be the same once the back plate is off. Plenty of videos, as any build video that shows the tear down to put a water block on will be more than enough information. -
I got coinbase years back. Simply select that in my nichhash app and send it there. Then convert the bitcoin to usd, then send it to my wallet. Easy task that takes about a minute.
-
Not sure what bringing it to its knees means. Usage isnt load. Looks like some power save is in effect for the gpu or bad mobo software.
-
Wouldn’t be windows. It’s would be the mining program.
-
Just select the single card. Prolly have to find the command list or just unselect it.
-
If thats the case you can get a 1200 or 1600, or even another 3080. Using both cards turned down will not exceed 500 watts from the cards alone. An 850 is more than enough for that.
-
You aren’t mining at full power, and if you don’t wonna spend the extra for a 1k psu you definitely shouldn’t be at full power. Also there isn’t any clear evidence of mining shortening lifespan compared to any other use. If anything it’s less stressful. Life depends on quality, temp, voltage and intensity.

Maximum hashing rate for a 2080 Super?
Mick Naughty replied to LazyDev's topic in Folding@home, Boinc, and Coin Mining
Yea that’s great. I have to run around 175 watts to do that. But each miner fluctuates for the actual has. -
Like it’s been done before, you can simply mod the driver and be back to mining. Assuming the hash rate is worth the price and power compared to other cards.
