It's important to understand that this is not really a UPS.  It's a giant phone battery bank with extra connectors.  A UPS sits there and makes sure you keep running even as the power fails.  This you pull out of the closet when you have no other sources of power, or take with you camping or take to the park to run your stuff on the 4th Of July celebrations.   These are not the same kinds of devices.

What was point in AMD when Intel was crushing?
AMD is great at the moment, and if we CPU companies dont have competitions, then there would be good products. We need Intel, and other companies,to continue on getting new generation of cpu's like the ones we are getting from AMD now

My reference RX 5700XT has been a very solid GPU on the hardware side of things, though the blower design has resulted in bad hot spot temps. It has a 3 year warranty that I'm just over 1 year into. My brother has an RX 580 that is leaving warranty in a month or so, and hasn't given even a single problem in its 2 year lifespan. (sticking it in another system when he gets my 5700XT)

I even have an old Radeon HD 3570 from Sapphire floating around somewhere that I soldered a monitor cable grounding bypass to because my monitor cable was partly broken... It still worked after more than 5 years. (and presumably still works, though I haven't installed it in a system in several years)

The CPU Cooler is big, so I checked the clearances. The RAM is 40mm and the CPU Cooler has a clearance that can handle up to 42mm. I'm also worried it might be overkill since I'm not overclocking, but there are few Be Quiet options on Newegg. The only cheaper one is the Pure Rock 2, and it's only a $20 difference. I might as well get the beefier one that I can be more assured will handle the 5950.

I was initially going to go with 4x8GB but, since the motherboard is dual channel, I don't think I'd get any performance advantages over 2x16. I've gone with low latency 3200 memory because AMD's website for the 5950x says 3200.

I thought about getting a 1TB M.2 drive, but my current C drive is 750GB and I've maxed it out a few times, so I don't think 1TB is going to be enough.

The Enermax has a fan that points up/down. Looking at screenshots of the case, it also has vents that go up/down. Should I mount the power supply so the fan is downwards and pulls in air from outside, or upwards to help pull air out of the case? My thought would be downward to keep the PSU isolated and cool. This is one component where I'm not fully decided on. Because of shipping, it comes in quite a bit higher than other similarly high quality PSUs. The Corsair RM850x is a tempting one because it's a quieter PSU for $100 less, but still of high quality (although I also have to pay duties, so the price difference will shrink a bit there).

MSI as the brand for the GPU is a placeholder. Is there much of a difference between them? I'm planning on pretty much buying the first one that becomes available. It looks like it might not be available in time for my build (though that will also depend on the supply of the 5950), but I can use my GTX 1070 in the interim.

I know this blows past my written budget, but I'm very happy with each selected component. The M.2, CPU Cooler, and Fractal case are currently on sale on Newegg. I might buy those later today.

Thank You to Voidrunner for putting me on the MSI Tomahawk. It's the perfect board for me. Thank You also to Hazzer for the Enermax PSU suggestion. I hadn't heard of that brand before, so it's one I would have normally overlooked.

I was reading through a few articles comparing motherboards, and I also landed on the ASUS TUF Gaming X570+ as a good all-round option. It has the features I'm looking for at what seems a reasonable price. I've been shocked at the price of motherboards now. There are so many in the $600-$1000 range. I just have no idea what the differences are at that price point and if there's anything worth the higher price tag. I hear ASUS TUF is built more for reliability, and that's what I like. I've used Gigabyte, MSI, and ASUS in the past, and I'm happy to stick to that family. Your suggestion of the MSI MAG X570 Tomahawk is an interesting one. I'm rather fond of MSI.

For the case, I've been happy with Mid-towers. A reasonable amount of space to have an easy time installing drives, and I think I've only ever used ATX boards. Portability isn't a factor. I have a laptop for when I need to be mobile (and a work issued tablet). I currently have my PC sitting on top of a dolly with wheels, so I can very easily pull it away from the wall and have full access to all sides.

PSU is one pieces where I know how important quality is, and I don't follow it enough to know which brands are reputable and what the good power supplies are right now.

I wish you good luck with the ROG contest. I think I entered it too, but with very few entries. Since my build centers around a CPU that doesn't launch until November and I still need to get my hands on a 3080, who knows when I'll start buying components

Well TBH the normal price is $800, but for whatever reason a few days ago Best buy drastically increased the price, maybe wait a week or two and see if it changes, I mean it should, as the PG348Q has a 120Hz replacement already.

I got a really good open box deal for $650 earlier this year, but otherwise it usually has been $800. In truth I was waiting for get the Alienware AW3420DW later this year (maybe black Friday) but the PG348Q was to good of a deal to pass up.

100Hz is still a noticeable boost from 60Hz, I had a 144Hz 1080p display and it made 60Hz gaming feel unplayable, it will feel buttery smooth.

I think it is worth waiting, and now that you have the price alert set up you would know right away!

    @Sabarok
If you want to stick under budget and go for a 27" 1440p high refresh rate G-sync display the PG279Q is probably one of my favorite options as well, and it is IPS so that's a win, but it can be found for less that $930:

I won't argue that OLED and HDR aren't super nice features to have and that it is the better technology, of which the market is pushing towards, but they are not found for less than $2,200cad, never mind a G-sync compatible panel. So recommending it is not realistic, just because something is the best doesn't mean it is obtainable. So yes, there is room to argue because it does not matter how good something is if it is no where near a set budget.

That is why I recommended several options, many of which are not within budget at the moment because of supply constraints. As for an immersive feeling this is all opinion based, and just like an ass hole, everyone has their own lol.

Strictly considering traditional PC monitors an UW is not only obtainable for the price, but it is also going to feel a lot bigger and more immersive than a standard 24-27" display.

Since you're thinking about such an expensive monitor, you should start by looking at this thread so you know how to read the reviews.

Then you just need to start filtering down monitors based on your demands, here's a good filtering tool for you. You can add even more filters from the add column button.
Just take into consideration that prices are out of whack now so the price slider isn't the most accurate thing right now.

Thanks for the great tips and links. Two recommendations for ultrawide. I had looked at it, but initially dismissed it because of the price. Learning that the Asus can drop down to $800 is a great tip, and it does look like it happens often.

I love the tip for the LG Ultragear. I've used LG often as a display, and I have a 24" LG as a secondary monitor I've owned for 15 years. You're right that it's a better value. You've knocked the PG279Q out of the running.

I'm liking these options. I move in July, and I was planning on making this purchase in July, but if I see the Asus ROG Swift drop to $800 again on Bestbuy, that's too good to pass up. The LG Ultragear for $700, I'm a lot happier with that price than the one I had picked out. I appreciate the two recommendations for the Acer Predator, and it's given me some more appreciation for the widescreen.

According to Amazon, the ultra wide has a width of 81cm. My current TV is around 92cm in width, so it'll certainly fit. And maybe keeping that width will help reduce the shock of having a smaller screen. Very good advice. I am very happy I came here before buying.

I'd get the LG 27GL850-B. Its THE best 27" 1440p monitor out there. Paying extra 200 $ for "165Hz Asus glory" is completely pointless as most people wont notice the difference without a framerate counter at the top (especially in simgeplayer). Have a look at the recent monitor round-ups or the in depth review of the monitor from the Youtuber Hardware Unboxed and find out why it's the way to go.

Edit: I have recommended this monitor to several friends and 2 of them actually bought it and are very happy with their purchase. The only reason i dont have it myself is because i am lucky enough to be able to game on an LG C9 OLED TV.

Maybe consider an ultra wide. Your PC might struggle with it a bit now, but you might be happier with it in the long run paired with a "top of the line PC".
