  1. I actually took the front glass panel off the case because with that thing on my temps were really bad even when my PC was brand new and the thermal paste was still fresh. I don’t even know why they put that front panel there. They should’ve known it blocked air flow really badly. It’s not like they’re novices in case building. They must’ve been drunk or something when they did that.
  2. Thanks as my first build I was super proud of my cable management. The only thing I messed up with is that top fan in the photo. It does spin but for some reason the lights don’t work but I left it in anyway since aesthetics are less important than performance and I figured it’s fine as long as the fan is working properly.
  3. Ah ok thanks! That’s good to know I hate opening up my PC and taking things out and putting them back in since it’s my first build and I put a lot of effort into cable management.
  4. Hmm I guess I should upgrade my CPU & motherboard then and leave the 2080 Ti alone. How often should I replace the thermal paste? I haven’t replaced it since I got it in 2019 and with the +105 MHz core & + 800 MHz memory overclock my GPU gets up to 80C when I’ve been playing demanding games like RDR2 for several hours. The issue is I’m not sure if it’s the GPU or if it’s because I live in California and it’s Summer and the day time temperatures here regularly go above 100 degrees Fahrenheit almost every single day. Obviously I can’t blame the GPU if the fans are blowing warm hair but on the other hand I know people sometimes replace thermal paste on GPUs. Is 80C bad?
  5. How much of a difference do you think there is between a 3080 and a 2080 Ti? I’m currently speedrunning Resident Evil: Village and I’m curious how many extra FPS you think I would get in a game like that? I notice when I turn resolution scaling up from 1 to 2 my FPS tanks down to like 40-50 fps.
  6. Thanks! Yeah 1440p/144hz is what I have it’s just often I’m nowhere near 144 FPS and I feel like I’m not getting what I paid for from my monitor Like in RDR2 with max settings I’m lucky to get 70 FPS with max setting at 1440p resolution.
  7. It’s not so much about poor performance as it is about me wanting to have the best experience I can afford. For example I have a 1440p monitor with a 144 hz refresh rate and I like a cinematic experience so I turn graphics settings up pretty high. However in many games I get between 90-110 FPS with max settings and thus I’m not getting the maximum performance out of my monitor and I end up paying for performance I’m not getting. I am absolutely aware that 90-110 fps is nothing to complain about and totally playable but I’m worried that not long from now more demanding games will come out and I’ll end up getting like 60-70 fps which is less than half of my monitor’s refresh rate and I did pay for a 144 hz monitor so I might as well take advantage of everything it has to offer right? Otherwise I could’ve saved money and got a 120 hz monitor. But I will admit I do like upgrading for the fun of it too. I hate being in a situation where all of my computer parts are outdated and I need to replace everything and I’ve found one way to avoid that is by upgrading things one at a time over a period of time so that none of the parts are too old or slow.
  8. Note: My PC is only used for gaming & web browsing and absolutely nothing else. So about 2 years ago my 1070 Ti was having issues with overheating and crashing so I decided to upgrade to a 2080 Ti (EVGA XC2 Ultra). I ended up paying a ridiculous $1420 for it from Newegg but for years I always wanted to have a top end GPU at least once. Now I’m wondering if I should sell my 2080 Ti and upgrade or if it’s still a solid GPU that will be able to play games (at medium or better settings @ 1440p) for a few more years? My CPU is an 8700K OC’ed to 5 GHz all cores and if I don’t upgrade my GPU then I will upgrade my CPU. Everything else on my PC is fine as my 32 GB of RAM @ 3600 MHz is plenty, my Samsung 970 Evo Plus NVMe SSD still has lots of of space (even with my entire Steam library installed) and my Corsair RM850x 850W 80+ Gold modular PSU still seems to be chugging along just fine. Its just been a while since I’ve upgraded my PC and I’m trying to figure out which component I should upgrade. P.S. My motherboard is an MSI z390 ACE so if I upgrade my CPU I will have to replace my motherboard with a z490 chipset since I’m an Intel fanboy and proud of it.
  9. Yeah for sure! I recommend getting at least an hour in before giving up. The 1st hour is definitely the scariest and most intense for sure because you have no weapons and the tension is high since you're mostly running away. Once you get into the game and have some decent weapons & ammo + healing items the game slows down and lets you explore and enjoy the puzzles and stuff while throwing a couple monsters at you every once in a while. I tried to play it so many times but I just kept quitting after the first fight with Jack because it felt too spooky & anxiety provoking and I laid it down for a few years. But I finally pushed through that first hour and really started enjoying it. Now I rank it as the best RE game of them all and I'm considering buying the DLC. The "Happy Birthday" puzzle is the hardest puzzle I've seen in an RE game and I've played & completed RE2R, RE3R, RE7 & RE8. I'll always remember that puzzle whereas with most puzzles I forget them pretty quickly because they're easy.
  10. Eh I felt like RE8 was a great game but it didn't have that same intense horror atmosphere. It felt mostly like an action game. I don't think I ever felt any sort of fear or anxiety while playing it. RE7 I was constantly anxious & dreading what comes next but every time I beat what came next I felt huge satisfaction. Yeah I know what you mean. I've had it for 3 years and up until last week I had never made it more than 20 minutes in before quitting because I don't really like the torture kind of stuff. But then I got past the beginning and the game really surprised me with how good it was and I was glad the torture stuff wasn't too bad after the beginning. Once you actually make it out of the Baker House for the first time the game really shines.
  11. I just beat RE:7 for the first time today. I’ve had it for years but after 20 minutes in I was too scared to play it until now after beating RE8 and wanting more. The game is a masterpiece! Definitely one of, if not the most, brilliant horror games I’ve ever played! I think the atmosphere was spooky & intense and the story was fantastic for a RE game. The boss fights were unique and the puzzles were fun and more challenging than most RE puzzles. For the first time I actually had to use a guide for an RE game after getting stuck on the Happy Birthday puzzle. I won’t say anymore to avoid spoiling things but that puzzle is tough! The only complaint I have is the lack of variety in enemies. Aside from boss fights you have normal molded, big molded, and 4 legged molded. What do you guys think? Is RE7 a masterpiece? Or did you have complaints I didn’t address? Thanks for reading!
  12. I used 3D Mark to do the best stress test I could when I built my PC. The results were 78-79C max for all cores @ 5 GHz. Yesterday I was playing Resident Evil 7 for the first time (I’ve had it for years but it always scared the heck out of me) and I loaded up HW Monitor and it was at like 84-85C max all cores. I turned the fans on my EVGA 2080 Ti XC2 Ultra to 100% to help with air flow. It did increase noise but I have a noise cancelling headset so I couldn’t hear it while playing. The thing is I don’t know if it’s my CPU thermal paste or because it’s summertime and in California it gets hot so my room is warm (85 degrees on average) whereas it’s like 65 degrees in the winter so I don’t know if that 20 degrees change in ambient temperature is causing the increased temps or if I need to replace my thermal paste. Unplugging my PC and opening it up is a big hassle and I’d prefer not to do it unless necessary.
  13. Thanks! Looks like I have a weekend project. I know some people can do it in like 10 minutes but I’m not one of them
  14. I actually did downclock from 5 Ghz to 4.7 and it stays around 80C under full load. It used to do 78C Max @ 5 Ghz. The thing is I still have 3/4 of a tube of Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut and I would hate to have to buy another tube when I have some already. Linus did a video where he showed most of the big name thermal pastes are similar in performance with a 1-2 degrees variance. They even tried toothpaste and peanut butter for fun. I built my PC about 2 years ago and that’s the last time I put the original thermal paste on.
  15. Hey guys, I've noticed that the idle temps of my PC are about 10 degrees (celsius) over what they were when I first built my PC. Normally it's 38-40C at idle and then up to 85-90C under a full load while benchmarking. Note: My CPU is overclocked @ 4.7 GHz all cores. The thing is I don't know if it's because I need to replace my thermal paste (Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut) or if my PC is just warmer because it's summertime now and I live in California where the temperature is regularly over 100 degrees outside. I'm sure that with the fans circulating warm air and the ambient temperatures already in the 80s it would affect cooling right? I have an EVGA 280mm AIO and 2x 120mm case fans for cooling. I took the glass panel off the front of my NZXT H510 Elite case to help with airflow. Thanks!
  16. I already sent them a report long ago. However if people post on my thread I will reply. No one is forcing you to come to this post. I truly don’t understand why people come to other people’s threads just to tell them what they should and shouldn’t post.
  17. I understand they have more pressing matters but I’m thinking it wouldn’t take more than 0.5 seconds to go to the code and put an “L” there. Whereas with other issues like optimization take serious time and work. The whole FPS issue is why I’m so happy to be a PC gamer. I get about 70fps @ 1440p with all settings maxed out as high as they can possibly go. Although I know it can be argued that my PC cost 8 times as much as a PS5 or XBox. I can’t even imagine what would happen if they tried to put Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch . I guess I just prefer, as Riley from LTT calls it, more of a “cinematic experience”.
  18. I never said it was perfect. Heck I’ve never even played it (although I do have it both on Steam & Nintendo Switch) I just never got around to it. But from what I’ve heard from almost every gamer who has played it is how amazing it is. I’m just saying sure mistakes happen but if they are found & pointed out they should be fixed.
  19. Yes I agree it’s a good game with amazing graphics but these are the same developers who created Witcher 3 which is arguably one of the best video games of all time. But you’re right I can look around that as it’s the only misspelling I’ve seen in my 8 hours of gameplay so far. If every sentence had a misspelling or typo I probably couldn’t look around that.
  20. Agreed it’s not a critical error or even a moderate error and it doesn’t affect gameplay in the slightest. Heck most people probably would never notice it even after several full play throughs. But it just feels lazy, rushed and sloppy to me and I feel like they should try to polish and fix stuff like that or anything that they see is not how it was intended to be. I mean we’re talking about a game that has earned $150 million on Steam alone not even counting consoles.
  21. Awesome thanks! I just hate when finished games developed for years come out with stuff like that which make it look sloppy,
  22. Wouldn’t it be an easy fix to just include in the next patch? I mean all they have to do is add an “L”
  23. Good evening everyone, I was playing Cyberpunk 2077 and while reading the subtitles I noticed they spelled “should” as “shoud” without an “L”. Is this something I should tell the developers on Twitter or something so they can fix it in a patch? Or is it too minor to address? Thanks!
  24. Sounds like your rig is basically the same as mine. We both have an 8700K (mine is OC’ed to 5GHz all cores) my 2080 Ti is pretty close to your 3080 in terms of performance (about 7% less in some things at double the price), and we both have 32GB of RAM (mine is OC’ed to 3600 MHz). Are you running it on an NVMe SSD? I have the game installed on my 1TB Samsung 970 Evo Plus.
