  1. If you're in a situation where you can't access the cloud very easily (where internet is weak, filtered, or nonexistent) but you need to carry a decent sized library with you. The most classic use case is if you have to have a lot of videos with you and you don't know when you can get to a high speed internet point next.
  2. I have the feeling that its cheaper to fly to new york, get a similar laptop from a boutique buyer, go have a bit of fun, and fly back than it is to buy this in turkey...
  3. XPS graphics card is almost doubly as powerful so expect less waiting for rendering CAD. It looks like the XPS is also better vented (marginally) so you can always use a cooling pad to force more air through for cooling purposes.
  4. As long as you discard all packaging you can just take them yourself across the border as long as you're willing to return empty handed. You probably don't want to bring more than 2 lenses for the DSLR unless if you look like a hardcore photographer (and if they ask you better have a good instagram) I'd be more personally worried about the clothes especially if you are bringing sweaters in during the summer.
  5. if you don't want a slippery wrist rest ive always liked the razer sphex (it is FUGLY though)
  6. - Macbook pro - battery pack and charger - water bottle - 2x 30 rd beretta m9 extended magazines - pen+pencil - pocket notebook - bose soundsport free - cigarettes + lighter - sweater - beef jerky On my person: - beretta 92fs (looking to swap it out for a 92 compact) - car keys - wallet - phone - rosary - badge and security key - benchmade 51 full size (looking to swap it out for a phaeton) - fenix pd35
  7. Ducky one 2 mini? 100 USD
  8. There's two problems that people are conflating: - Bulk bandwidth to Alaska - Actual last mile transport. There's already existing lines from Seattle to Anchorage undersea, while the new cable along the Alcan would be very good for redundancy and earthquake proofing internet access, unless if the existing lines are clogged (or really expensive) it doesn't change the last mile problem
  9. Chinese people think that it's a good phone for a good price and they couldn't care less about potential spying or anything like that. For overseas people there are concerns about privacy but I'm more concerned about materials and build quality because I'm not trusting a huawei phone to go to hell and back with me just yet.
  10. Never in the US, if your router and modem can handle it you will get traffic on all devices. All they should see is one router. However, if you're plugging multiple things into the WAN there may be a problem there
  11. Considering that you will be cable switching anyways when you move the laptops, if you can connect a monitor via USB-C you can do - HDMI shared cable (always) - DP > mDP (for the mac) - Either mDP female to usb c male for the thinkpad or a dedicated DP>USB-C
  12. Overnight security where you only have to take a walk once an hour and otherwise you're left alone. Bring your books and get paid to study!
  13. Looks like I'm doing 2x usb c to dual displayport which leads one port for power and one port as backup. If I'm using a cooling pad I will also need to add two fans pointed away from me in order to avoid a warm air hotspot.
  14. Well in linux you can use an international layout with AltGR and a compose key (AG+shift) or a US international layout where there are more diacritic keys to type accented characters. You're technically not supposed to type arbitrary unicode symbols so if you want to you have to use an extension.
  15. There's a handful in Vegas, and you can actually play in the luxor esports arena for 10/hr (locals get double time) and a few others off strip for 5 an hour give or take eg evo cafe (spr mtn+jones) or gogo cafe (trop+md) Although considering that these places charge 5/hr and you can get a good setup for 1200 or so (break even point of 240 hours or about a year of playing 4 hours a week, less if you're actually into gaming), and that you have to drive to these places in the US, I don't see them being that popular in Vegas. May be slightly different in like NYC where getting places is almost free (monthly metrocard pass) It's nice if you're travelling and all you want to do is unwind in a small booth and play a gmae or two but I don't see it as an everyday thing, at least in the US. On the other hand, if they got these Japanese style drink machines with 32 choices and melon fanta, I might be going there a little bit more often...
