  3. I would use a 5820k primarily for gaming and video editing and might dabble with 3D modeling and animations
  4. Hi, I'm thinking about buying an OCZ Vector 150 ($50 for 120GB at the moment) and I would like to know about your good and possibly bad experiences with the drive. At a first glance, it seems like a pretty good drive, considering its 5 year warranty and decent speeds... but how has OCZ been since it was acquired by Toshiba? Thanks in advance
  5. Set up your system on a testbench (or on your mobo box) and press the power button on the mobo (or short the front io power connectors). If nothing lights up/ fans don't spin, the psu is dead. Else, the mobo, if it isn't dead, it will emit a series of beeps or will have an LED readout to indicate any errors.

  7. Here's a video about how the CPU actually "bottlenecks" the GPU:
  8. The number of pins on the connector. The SP120 fans that I have are 3-pin and they work perfectly.
  9. I have the same card and it's fairly silent. It probably would be difficult to lubricate the fan because fan motors are usually sealed. I'm not sure if it's possible to remove the fan but you could stop it by unplugging it from the fan header on the card's PCB. I hope this helps
  10. You don't have to worry about the heat output of your RAM, especially if you're not going to add extra voltage. After stressing my RAM (G.Skill TridentX 2400MHz @ 1.65V) with Aida64 for half an hour, the DIMMs were barely warm to the touch even with my case fans turned off. Unrelated to your question but... how big is your case and what will the airflow be like?
  11. Hi, I have a small question. Currently, I have two 4GB DIMMs (G.Skill TridentX 2400Mhz) in my system and I'm planning to add two more [eventually]. Is it possible to add two 8GB sticks with the same timings and frequency and still have them run in dual channel? Thanks in advance.
