  1. Wait, Surface with Atom already exist? how did I miss this? Thus, that's why I really want to see Surface on Atom. With all the kickstands and type cover. Perfect cheap devices. For niche markets, Pros will serve them with proper active stylus. Now I see how can it kill those Pros sales....
  2. By the time Microsoft forget about RT and replace them with Atom tablets with similar price tag, that's when the dreams come true.
  3. yup, it's all about the apps. I know it has those apps, I use them on my Surface Pro 3, desktop and laptops. Works a lot better with any Android device when I want to use with split screen. Netflix is much better when I hook my device to TV. I don't neglect the entire rest of the OS but I still get the entire rest of the OS with the x86 version. Windows RT is not bad, but x86 is better for me overall It won't run as smooth as Corei5/i7, but trust me it isn't that bad. I tried my friend's Acer with last gen Atom, it's passable if were to replace Surface RT. and like I said, it's based on my usage. If you're happy with your RT I'd say good for you. By no mean, Windows RT is bad (except for the apps selection) but it just doesn't make sense to me when I can have extra Win32 compatibilty.
  4. Probably you should read again. I've never compared RT with Pros. I always mentions Windows 8.1 x86 on Atom
  5. I'm going to tell you why RT suffer the disadvantage while Android and iOS don't. Because Android and iOS managed to compensate that shortcoming with plenty of apps while Microsoft didn't tackle that area fast enough. Resulting Android and iOS gain the advantage. People aren't looking to run legacy applications, people wants the device to be able to run what they want. If there's a way to run, legacy or not, people don't care and will run it.
  6. Right now I'm confused, are we talking about Surface 2 and Surface RT hardware or the OS? You can take it as negativity, but if the other side is greener why should I stay on this "green just fine field"? and before you see me as Microsoft hater, my environment right now is 100% Microsoft; Windows 8.1 Desktop, Windows 8.1 Laptop, Windows Phone 8.1 Lumia930, Surface Pro 3 and I've never been happier (probably because there's no RT in them) and probably I should mention as well, all of these are an opinion based on my usage. Media consumption device? Windows 8.1 Atom tablet or Android tablets are my choices. Definitely not any Windows RT tablets. I'm not ignoring the strong points of the OS but the strong points in Windows RT is also in Windows 8.1 x86 (well, except for probably viruses and malwares though I have 0 problems with that as far as I built my own PC) and I'm getting extra Win32 compatibility. I hope Microsoft just forget RT line up now and go with Atom based media consumption devices.
  7. I still don't understand why you want to go for RT when you can have x86 Atom tablet that basically can run Win32 stuff on top of WinRT rather than being limited to WinRT stuff. Even if I were given a choice between Windows RT or Windows 8.1 on Intel Atom at the same price, I would be willing to pay extra for Windows 8.1 on Atom... sure, both probably has the similar capability in the end, I still can't run high end game on Atom but at least any application on Win32 runtime is still compatible. If I really want an ARM device, I'll go for Android... for no other reason, application availability. So, I agree... let the OS dies slowly...
  8. It is not a weird thing that someone will eventually give GOTY to Inquisition. Not saying it is a bad game, but for me it isn't an outstanding game either. Yes it is a game you need to play, but for me that is because there are no other games worth playing at that moment... it is a mediocre game for me, how a game is supposed to be at release... But if it is up to me to decide who gets the GOTY title, it still is Dragon Age for me for the lack of competition...
  9. Yes, EA restored some confidence with Inquisition. But I still say wait and see and dont be too optimistic to avoid them making a comeback and try to compete with Ubisoft again.
  10. At first i was sceptical about voiced assistant like Siri and Ok, Google as well. Mainly because I dont use Apple products and Ok, Google can't even check my calendar for me. But when I went on with Windows Phone and Cortana, I find she is very useful. If I can't speak, I can use text. She can sings, she can joke, she can remind me, she can shuffle my music, she can wake me up. I can't imagine a phone without a voice assistant like cortana anymore.... not to mention, english isnt my native tongue and I do speak english with accent. Ok, Google has hard time recognizing my voice while Cortana do it in a breeze.... Thing is, I still agree that implementation on desktop require extra careful assesment. It works on WP because of the dedicated button and not everything is as accessible as desktop. If I can just put the icon next to it why not. But I still find it will be useful in managing notification like reminder and alarms, and also how Cortana is totally useless if there is no connection to the server kind of frustrating
  11. as much as I like Razer's peripheral, I don't think anyone serious enough about audio quality will pick up this one... for me:- If i'm going to game, I prefer my Chimaera for its wireless, my desk has enough wires as it is (not the best audio quality honestly, guess because of its wireless) If I'm going to podcast/youtube I might just as well pick up something better than anything with "gaming" tag on it but, we will see... if the quality is on par and widely accessible maybe somebody will pick it up anyway
  12. and later; Intel and AMD: CPUs are hard to make now AMD and nVidia: GPUs are hard to make now Microsoft: OS development are hard to make now, DirectX has become too complicated, Office suit needs a lot of difficult things AntiVirus Companies: Viruses and malwares are too complicated now just because it's hard, difficult and complicated doesn't mean you can put less effort on it and be ok with it... sure, you might need more time but that is totally lazy excuse...
  13. I hope the PC side isn't on Ultra... tell me it's low please....
  14. let me use my head for a while.... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... yeah... I can remember AC:BF looks pretty much the same on PC compared to PS4 other than probably resolution... hhhmmmm.... maybe they changed the engine recently and PC version looks better in their recent games? but then, WatchDogs in PS4 and PC also pretty much the same... oh well, maybe I'm an idiot comparing consoles and PC version... maybe PC and PS4 version is going to be totally different beast instead of the exact same thing really....
  15. Sorry if this is off topic, but I had to say something about it... The real issue is not about "gameplay over graphics"... sure they do outstanding job at gameplay, but having a nice graphics are nice especially when I already spend thousands of money to play games with graphics at 1080p with 60fps... but the excuse they give, shoving those words into our mouth... if you can't do it, say you can't do it... I dont know about others, but I most certainly can understand that... but coming out saying 30fps is more cinematics, that's what disgust me (most probably all the community). I know all they talk about is console, but as you also mentioned it shouldn't affect the PC. Now, here's the problem... Ubisoft's recent history is "Console Parity". They push console's interest on PC. WatchDogs parity scandal, and announcing GTX680 as bare minimum for AC:Unity? And not to mention, there are games on PC locked at 30fps, though probably none from Ubisoft but keep it at this rate I'm pretty sure they have plan to do it... call me paranoid, but it has happened with other publisher/developer before I would say totally plausible Ubisoft is doing it (errrr... it already happened in The Crew?) "Ubisoft keeps on digging" is really correct impression. oh, btw... I play the pixelated Terraria at 1080p and make sure I have 60fps gameplay. so, yeah... even in pixelated games I like that resolution and framerate...
  16. Ouh, you're from APES!!! Saw it on WAN Show, I knew this system has been in front of my eyes before...
  17. wait... are you really sure???? this is the level of details that requires GTX680 minimum??? you are kidding right??? tell me you're kidding...
  18. I was excited at first when I saw this, been thinking about replacing my Naga Epic for ages... But then, I saw the dock with similar design for the charging pins with previous Naga Epic and that immediately turns me off... The charging pins are the one that broke for me making me unable to charge it other than plugging the USB cable right after the warranty ends... so, yeah... no... I'll just stick with my current Naga Epic then...
  19. I think it is just logical 1. Windows users traditionally are desktop/laptop users. 2. Looking at the OS so far, I don't even want to install it on my Surface. They are trying to fix stuff on desktop experience, not on the tablet experience. I don't see any advantage, new features I want to try on tablet environment, Continuum isn't ready. But I bet people are very curious on what does it fix on the desktop experience. 3. Most people who use tablet, do not want to install something that has no guarantee of stability on their device. What if I hit a bug/irrecoverable crash when I really need to use it (e.g show something in a meeting). You might argue, ppl do custom ROM on Android all the time but then again, who are the primary users of Windows tablet? I would say enterprise users who either rely on guarantee of stability, or installing the OS on his own is prohibited. From there, I would actually surprised if the number of tablet users are higher.
  20. you might ask, who wants to buy this kind of things.... but some people just doesn't really care about money and wants the convenient of having things works out of the box without spending even seconds of their life configuring things... hint: console people but, what are the advantage of this against console? maybe not whole PC advantage as it defeats the upgrade capability. But it still has the advantage of having an options (graphic details vs smoothness) and the ability to run at 60fps and with Steam and GoG.com, the ability to still play old games really trumps the console. So, yeah... if I was given an option between this and XboxOne or PS4, I'm going for this for sure...
  21. that's how I sleep on my surface last time... on the glass... I'm scared to death that I never put my surface near my bed again... but this video looks legit, actually more legit than the OP... at least to me... I don't really know the figures, but 100 pounds? sounds a bit of exaggeration to me, but I won't say it's impossible since I don't have a figure my self ... still 100 pounds is just half of my weight (again, I probably not applying force in the center but it could happen on bed though....) so I see it still is entirely possible to happen in real world.... but the new video probably relief a little bit of the concern...
  22. Even if you don't agree, I don't think those who suggest to get a better card really at fault too. It just make sense to go with at least 750Ti in this generation anyway for gaming. since your PC spec has changed, maybe you can start with your current build to see if your current IGP is already up on par with what you expect? I'd go with GT 740 or GTX 750 or R7 260X if $100 is really as far as you can go, but I would really try to squeeze in another ten bucks for GTX750Ti.
  23. Yes, I don't put it in my pocket... but yeah I'm glad I didn't buy an Ipad Air 2 when I fell asleep on my Surface Pro 3 on my bed.... for something to bend under the force of two hands, I'm concerned... and yes, anything will bend/break with enough force but if the amount of "enough force" is easily done on 2 hands I think I should be concerned on the build quality... maybe you think I'm being too paranoid that my concern is stupid but if you have seen how I handled my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 before, you'll agree with me... and I certainly won't buy something like this...
  24. I would say, if they reduce the macro keys to 1 columns (5 or 6 buttons) and allow us to change the backlighting I might try... but probably will think twice or thrice if K70 RGB is the contender. the owl like shape is unique, but never been a fan of orange color and like somewhat said, the design is kinda in your face...... I didn't even know Strix was supposed to be orange....
  25. To answer your question, pretty sure it's a no... Your key is Win8.1 key... not Win8 key... Those with Win8 key can upgrade to Win8.1. Not the other way around. So you will need a new key for Win8.
