I'd like to see them do a series on taking enterprise level hardware and adapting it for home use. Why? Cuz I wanna take "fiber to the home" and run a fiber optic network card from my pc for no practical reason.

Did they edit his beard and face to look like the Chad meme or is the benadryl finally kicking in.

I've never been okay with the spying, and many of us (myself included) have gone out of our way (mostly by downloading a program someone else spent a lot of time making) to disable all the bullshit. I've never once paid for Windows in my life, mostly because I've always gone for the long term business versions, disable Windows Update, and then water it down from there. Personally I've hated Windows 11 the whole time since they went out of their way to make it more "Mac" like. But at this point, I think the few games I play will work on Linux so when the time comes, I'll likely switch over to a more gaming centric/friendly distro. I do think the "common person" won't know about this unless us techies blow it up to the point it makes national headlines. Even then I'm not sure how many people would switch away for fear that whatever it is they do won't work on a different platform. That and the learning curve of learning a new platform.

YouTube has been experimenting with lowering the bitrate on videos but allowing users to pay for higher quality bitrates (I think via a YT Premium account). I don't think it's a thing on all videos and I'm not sure if it's something the creator controls, but this may be the primary reason behind your issue. How does a high quality bluray rip look with something like VLC Media Player? If it looks great, then you at least know there's nothing wrong with your laptop.

Who Can Find the Weirdest PC Parts on AliExpress?

I think that kit was for the interior though. Unless it had both interior and exterior and I didn't notice. -
Who Can Find the Weirdest PC Parts on AliExpress?
TempestCatto replied to Plouffe's topic in LTT Releases
I would have liked to know more about the mouse, dpi, latency and how it holds up during gaming (I also really wanted to see it spin and get a 360 no scope). It's honestly kinda cool. -
Sabrent's firmware update infected with malware
TempestCatto replied to Spotty's topic in General Discussion
Genuine question. Why does something like a USB hub need firmware updates? I buy one, plug it in, and use it. Never once do I think about firmware or even drivers. -
VPNs are basically useless as confirmed through testing.

So this is specific to Android devices then? So my ISP nor the FBI have any idea how I acquired the LMG Christmas Album? -
Managing multiple audio sources in a video
TempestCatto replied to porina's topic in Photography and Videography
What software are you using? You should be able to see the spikes in the audio tracks. You'd want to use those spikes to line everything up. A hefty "clap sync" never did me wrong. But I hate editing to the point I don't do it anymore (and haven't for a couple years now). -
Helldivers 2 requires PSN account linking and creates a lot of backlash
TempestCatto replied to nvhgamer's topic in Tech News
We live in an age where you need an account for your "smart" toaster. There's no reason to need to link an account to play a game on a different platform. That'd be like having to link our LTT Forum accounts to Discord in order to use the LTT Discord server. I hate it here. -
For gits and shiggles try plugging the CPU fan into a normal fan header. If it does the same thing I would think the fan itself is bad.

Did you try a new video cable? Also try a different input on the monitor and a different output on the GPU.

This is exactly why I’ve been livin life on the 7 seas. I don’t need multiplayer support anyway as I have no friends so being locked to single player is all I need.

Good Adblockers for various OS's?
TempestCatto replied to IR76's topic in Programs, Apps and Websites
For Windows and Linux: Firefox with ublock origin, sponsorblock, return youtube dislike, and (best of all) dark reader. -
Maybe I'm just used to really old tech, but this doesn't need to be a thing. I've replaced the screen, battery, and charge port assembly on my iPhone 6s. The parts were all from iFixit (not a sponsor) but I don't know if when I powered the phone back on it synced to said servers. I doubt it, nor is it necessary when you're replacing something like a battery. Apple just like using buzzwords to trick most people into thinking they need new muffler bearings every third oil change.

Consumer W - ISP's must display their pricing correctly!

I'd like to see an "ingredients" portion of the label. How much fiber is there really when they claim I have "fiber to the home"
