i’ve both lost and restored faith in humanity today

i was at subway and this mom and her son were in line (m is mom, s is son, e is employee)

m: what would you like

s: *tells order (no tomoatoes*

m: don’t tell me, tell the nice lady

s: (shyly) *repeats order*

e: awwe no problem sweetie

s: thanks ^_^

e: *less than 5 minutes later* *hands sandwhich in bag over*

m: * takes* thank you so much.

e: no problem

both m and s: *go sit down to eat*

m: *sees a tomato in it*

s: it’s fine i’ll pick it out

m: no we said no to tomatoes

s: she didn’t mean to mommy it was an accident

m: well accidents shouldn’t happen

s: don’t plzzzz *grabbing his mom’s shirt trying to get her to sit back down*

m: *walks over there and stats yelling at the employee*

e: *tries defending herself and says it was an accident*

s: mommy please it wasn’t bad it was just one half

m: still a tomato which we said no to

gained hope for humanity: kid trying to defend the woman who he didn’t know

lost hope: woman loses her shit over a tomato

On a more serious note, kudos to that kid for trying to stop his mum from yelling at an employee because of a tomato and kudos to the employee for explaining her mistake and not getting angry at the mum who's yelling at her over a tomato.

The employee made a mistake, and the mum's attitude towards people making mistakes is honestly a bit concerning..

Sure, it's frustrating when a fast food employee gets your order wrong (and in this case it was just one tomato that could've easily been picked out and put in a bin) but that absolutely doesn't mean that you should yell at them because of it, especially not with something like this.

exactly, i would understand if they said no mustard, no vinegar, or something that can be taken off as easily completely..

but even still just saying “hey, so i asked for no —— but there is some on here” and then you’ll probably get your order free  (most places do that if they put vinegar or mustard on it and you can’t get it off)

I mean, they said no tomatoes. I work at a subway in my town actually, and if that happened I would gladly make a new sandwich for them. When I take orders, I go off what the parents say.
