I'm in the same boat but I have a gtx 1070. I just upgraded my PC but left the old gpu and decided to wait for the new models. I have an AMD Ryzen 3900x and a 1440p Ultrawide monitor with 100 hz refresh rate. I tested borderlands 3 yesterday and got around 40-60 fps on high settings, so perfectly playable and good quality.

Okay, but you have a full custom loop, I'm just running stock box cooler which is the wraith prism.
Also doesn't TR have multiple dies under the MASSIVE heat spreader, while consumer Ryzen chips have 1 single little concentrated heat source?

The stock cooler is enough if you don't do long sessions of benchmarking loads for no reason.  45c idle is about where a 3700x sits.  1.5v is a bit high but as long as its not for hours on end it's fine too.  If you're just looking at stuff like HWInfo and looking at "Max" then that's just a spike.  I'd want a better cooler for my own peace of mind but the stock one is good enough for gaming.  I used it for a bit while waiting for my AIO to arrive.

I see where you're coming from. I buy a keyboard for more than I'd like to pay for it, the next day there's the same board in better shape for less.

    8pin is enough
    I use just 8 pin on 3900X

the extra 4 pin is useless and doesnt do anything other than looking impressive on a board.

the same is said about an extra 8 pin.

this is because a minimum spec 8 pin EPS connector can deliver 384 watts to the CPU. which you wont exceed with a consumer CPU without resorting to liquid nitrogen. also the VRM is likely to blow up before the 384 watt is reached.

edit: also good luck cooling 384 watts

there also is a m.2 version of the mx500, but then you should also look into the p1

most b450 boards are good, this one is good, but not anything special

pure power 11 would be good enough too, but there's nothing wrong to go with a straight power
