  1. so it works fine for a few matches then starts to freeze up? is something overheating? check your temps on cpu/ gpu
  2. so you press the power button and nothing happens? check that the power button is plugged in still
  3. which is an example of one of the few reasons to need to flash your bios doing it regularly is not a good idea. and like grockle said it will improve nothing on your gpu.
  4. A massive, capital letters NO Unless you NEED to, don't flash the bios on anything - motherboard or GPU. A Bios flash failure can brick your computer if it fails. some people will disagree and say that they dual bios / flash their bios all the time / its much safer now etc etc but theyre wrong and theyre giving inexperienced people bad, unsafe advice. Edit: Like Whiro said, if youre itching to do something to squeeze more performance out of your card you should definitely turn towards the much more risk/reward friendly overclocking
  5. could be alot of things. If you have access to a different computer try installing the gpu in it to see if your computer is the issue (for example a bad mobo) or test a different video card in the slot.
  6. I love that you made this a post like 5 years after it came out. It took me a sec to understand but you mean when you kill the enemies it drops like health and ammo and you don't like it. yeha I kinda thought that too when I played it, but thats doom
  7. so you dont care about any files on the laptop ? just download windows 10 and reinstall off of a usb key (boot from usb) as long as hardware is ok (it sounds like its fine) then you should have no issues from there. https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/software-download/windows10
  8. I updated my gpu-z to 2.29 like yours - I have a perfcapreason still. Is yours turned off in the settings? its really handy when your experiencing low gpu usage because it tells you what the limiting factor on your gpu is and can help you track down the issue. its a good starting point. may want to also get in contact with your gpu manufacturer for a possible RMA - (ie a return) they will have some advice for troubleshooting as well. may as well start getting in contact with them now as it can take forever to get a response.
  9. seconded. clear cmos will fix your problem. the best way toclear it is to connect the two pins on your mother board as shown in your manual. the quick and dirty way to do it is to pop out the watch battery and pop it back in after a couple seconds.
  10. its not RAM, having a single stick vs a dual stick doesn't make THAT much of a difference. that being said - did you buy 2133mhz ram? or did you just forget to turn on the XMP profile in your BIOS? (check motherboard manual how to do this) for your low gpu usage, download GPU-Z, fire up a game and check the sensors tab. what does it say your PerfCapReason is?
  11. seriously? that alone is worth like $200
  12. Not a bad find! definitely worth keeping or selling, not garbage by any means and should not have been in a scrap pile if it actually still runs. I would look at doing some routine maintenance on it, like cleaning and maybe redoing cpu thermal paste then do a clean windows install and update drivers. Should be a fine rig for some light duty gaming at 1080p resolution. The graphics card is a radeon hd 7850? its old but still ok, should be able to play games on low medium no problem.
  13. I would have a nice regular gift as back up if I were you, like flowers and hot chocolate etc to go with the earplugs. You know her better than me, so earplugs might be great, but you should give them with something else more conventional just in case. Make sure you explain why you got her earplugs and that you were trying to be considerate!
  14. I dont think it supports over 60hz for 4k. it says specifically 60hz on the soundbar website, I'd try to avoid using the passthrough, run direct to the tv and somehow get the soundbar to work after the fact. or return it
  15. From the video above it looks like you want to get a Gigabyte Gaming (3Fan) If you can afford it, its worth it to get a 2060 Super instead of a regular 2060 as well. 2060 super performs close to a 2070 non super and on sale you can get them pretty near the price of a regular 2060.
  16. https://benchmark.unigine.com/heaven would be a good way to test and run GPU-Z https://www.techpowerup.com/download/techpowerup-gpu-z/ to monitor temps (click on the sensors tab)
  17. Buy any gpu you want but get one with a really good cooler. For example, EVGA makes several models of the same GPU but some have better coolers. I believe their FTW lineup has the best cooling. You'll see EVGA, Gigabyte, Asus, MSI etc all do this. The more expensive models of the same GPU should have better coolers, but you can compare - typically the more fans and the bigger the heatsink the better. Watch youtube reviews to see for sure, I think Gamers Nexus measures loudness
  18. Yeah thats normal, put a load on your card and get it up to about 50-60c and you should see them come on the clock speeds jump all over the place now because it is constantly downclocking and overclocking itself to use less power and generate less heat. its a feature!
  19. Yeah this is a good balanced choice. The i5 2500 is a great CPU still, but the 2600 is better and would be alot better for gaming its about 100 better.. jk Yeah I would, and get a good one you can use in your next PC. for peace of mind. Go for B+ and above, buy something on a good sale. PSU Tier list You could for the CPU, I wouldn't for the motherboard. Processors are way more reliable than motherboards, I would want a new board. the 2600 sells for a pretty good deal already though so might not be worth the hassle and questionable warranty Merry christmas!
  20. So you've replaced the GPU , it was working fine and now you are not getting a signal to any monitors.. strange. Make sure all of the obvious things, ie cables are plugged into the video card not the motherboard, monitor input set correctly, cables are fine etc. After that try resetting the BIOS by unplugging power and popping out that little watch battery for about a minute. If that doesn't do anything and your computer boots but shows no display. I'd test the video card in another computer (huge pain in the neck I know) to see if it actually works. If it does work, I would suspect the motherboard might be faulty.
  21. Im reading Warren Buffets biography and they talk about Bloomberg Terminals which are special trading computers and modems that give real time data for traders. They cost about $25,000 a year to lease. I still dont really understand them. Theyve been a staple on wall street since the 80s and everyone whos anyone has to have one. would be a cool tech quickie?
  22. that was nice of them to invite you and Good for you for saying yes and getting out there to enjoy the holiday! Bringing gifts is not necessary, but you could if you wanted, I think its more common to bring some wine or a food item (or desert) for dinner. But don't worry too much about it! You could go without anything and noone will probably care.
