  3. if is so old that doesn't have the 8 pins and i bought a psu 7 years ago and it had those 8 pins, is at least 10 years old, change the psu, capacitors inside it might be near to explode anyway and ready to kill the psu anyway, so better change it some cheap corsair or evga psus will be more than enough for your needs, a 500w unit is more than enough for the 150watts you will need to power that pc the cpu uses like 70 watts, the 1050 another 70 plus the rest of parts, 500watts is perfect for you, way too much, but no 430watts psu these days is decent, so 500w is the new minimum
  4. almost all gpus do this noise under one circumstance or another, some have a hard to hear noise, others sounds alot louder, you decide if the noise is unaceptable and ask for a refund ad find another without the noise or accept it and live with it, is your decision but don't get surprised if it happens again with another brand, even nvidia have this problem from time to time, lets see if intel gpus end up having it too one thing is important here, be sure that the noise comes from the gpu, if the source of noise is different, change gpu will not fix anything, be 100% sure of the source of the noise, then decide what to do
  5. that one on the picture, i think it is not what you need, if we follow color standards and pinout that is a 5v molex to barrel converter but the pin location should give you 12v with that pin configuration it theoretically should work using this to connect to a pair of male molex connector, and avoid cutting the molex female connector on the psu, should be doable but the simplest method is buy the product on the last picture you shared both should work but the already built one is simpler to use
  6. the best performing one depends on what you want to do, how expensive the engine is, what type of tools they already have and the support it asks from the current hardware people have on their pcs there is not a single perfect game engine that fits all the needs some game engines are meant for single player games in small very detailed environments, other game engines will load as fast as they can the new maps when you pass by flying or driving but will take lots of time to load interiors of buildings new engines might be friendly with new hardware, directx11 or 12, older gpus will not handle that or handle it slow the perfect example is fortnite, it is meant to work quite decent on weak old hardware on low resolutions, other games might not even allow you to use low resolutions for engine or game design reasons one comment alot of people does sometimes against some games is lack of optimization, i personally think that some games indeed eat lots of resources and don't deliver as expected this could be caused by the developers not having enough time to make the engine work as good as possible, just deliver game and move to the next project if you look at old games like cs go, this game could not be more optimized i think, some hardware run this game at 500fps while very old hardware might run it at 120fps, is a light game in terms of textures and hardware requirements, but impressive nonetheless recently the discussion to use newer game engines was brought by fallout 76 and the numerous problems, bugs, developer expressed they used the same game engine because they already know how to deal with it because they already know all the tricks, capabilities and limitations, so it would mean start from 0 if they changed engine if a project takes more than 5 years, a developer will not want to change at last moment the game engine, for fear of screwing things up, or loosing time fixing things so much to consider

  8. the noise you describe is called coil whine it happens when as you mention a game with high framerates is being played some manufacturers use come elements on the electric design on the motherboards that are really noisy, is in general terms normal, it happens to most gpus but some are really noisy, some manufacturers might respond under warranty for this noise and replace your gpu with another, that might or might not be as noisy as your current one you decide if you return it as faulty or live with the noise, but is a component in the electrical part(chokes,vrm) on your gpu what makes this coil whine
  9. almost all of my ram kits never are listed on the manufacturer website, i never had a situation where any of them doesn't work what i had is problems with overclocking but xmp works almost always, well always for me, so i am not saying not to do it the way msi is telling you, i am saying that i buy knowing that most manufacturers are in the amd side and will not give you much problems the always for me is referred to other people who indeed had problems running xmp profiles on their motherboards, so you are right on trying to find a kit that is known to work i personally almost always end with corsair, my plan b is kingston i was going to buy that kit for a build i made 2 days ago, but it was expensive here, so i went with my known plan b and also worked i can't say it will 100% work, i say i would buy it, definitively, specially because is lpx so airflow near vrms is not restricted as much as taller ram modules
  10. do you have access to the router/modem? i would try first to change the wifi channel, set it on 9 or 11 see if that affects positively the connection for both devices
  11. most of these cameras are quite good but not fast when focusing and not great on the night, but definitively usable, i am looking on one of these where i live, but a older model, it definitively looks very decent

  13. if you have to choose, and 4g is more stable on your location, i would terminate that dsl service and live with it, i have friends that use similar connection on similar situtions and i understand why you want and need more, but i bet those copper lines they offer you are basically rusted/rotten and speeds come and go so is basically useless here is the video
  14. 4g speeds and ping are erratic to say the least a local connection not evn on 20mbps is probably a bad adsl connection using old copper if no isp where you live offers coaxial or optical fiber ftth, i understand why you ask for this linus made a video where he found a service that allowed you to do what you ask, join two connections to make them work as one as for doing it locally, order the pc to use both simultaneously, windows by default chooses one adapter and moves internet from there and ignores the other, same for wifi, if is connected to wifi, it will ignore ethernet(s) bridge connections is more meant to be used as your pc acting as a bridge between two networks, not two internet connections, but if you have time, try it, the worst it can happen is that it doesnt work the definitive solution in your case is get better isp offering you coaxial with at least 40mbps or optical fiber with 100mbps or more, whatever you try now, might or might not work with desired or undesied pings or weird hiccups is a temporary solution, a definitive solution is what you need
  15. for video editing 8 cores are better, even if the stupid adobe suite wastes 1 or 2 cores is better if budget is limited, the 3600 is a great option if your friend feels limited, remember that next year we should have a r7 4700 beating both cpus mentioned, so buy a decent otherboard that will support that one in the future and meanwhile find the cheapest one you can and he will be happy with that wahtever you do, don't buy intel, the rumor is that in january more or less they will release i9 10 cores 20 threads and from there all will be multithteaded, so current intels are pretty much obsolete now, they will become competitive with ryzen again, in terms of same cores, same threads, not in price, intel is absurdly expensive most times
  16. i am not familiar with those conenctors, but theoretically, you take a molex conector rom your psu, the yellow iirc is 12v, the black one next to it is the ground or negative some call it, so you use those two, you could use a male molex connector from some old fans, cut wires, solder if needed to that 12 and black cables and feed those connectors but as i said, i never saw such power conector, but theoretically should work, this is how i used to recycle old fans i had but i didin't connected to 12v, i connected to 5v, so fans spin slower

  18. the static bag only protects from discharges that happen when you take it out of the box or when you put it in the box, it is not a magic bag saving anything from the dangers of electricity if you want you can sell cpus alone, them motherboard as untested, i would ask those 500 dollars you mention, see if there is interest and if not, lower the price the two i7 cost like 120 dollars, the motherboard has to cost more, go with that idea, see how it goes

  22. that fx9590 cpu was meant to be used by overclocking enthusiasts, to see how far they could overclock it but is far from ideal for daily use or for a gaming pc at this point in time, put such power hungry cpu on a old motherboard is beg to all go to the dumpster if the machine has already a fx8300 or something like that, leave it like that, don't change the cpu a 1060 will work fine on most games, others will be abit limited limited by the lack of power on each of the cores in that cpu, is doable, but don't update the cpu if it has more than 6 cores remember that a 8 cores fx is basically less powerful than any r3 1200, so keep that in mind, is a better experience when playing games on he r3, that might push better the 1060 those old fx pcs are nice, specially for free, but not ideal these days for gaming purposes
  23. how did you dried up parts? did you dissembled everything, i mean, did you removed cpu from the socket? otherwise you didn't dried up the pc ram and gpu are likely to survive i you dried them well after the accident and this includes removing part and drying past and also the slow where it was connected, cpu is a 50/50 depending if you turned it on and still had water in it motherboard is likely dead, but tests won't harm it more i guess the psu, that is the problem, if it still turns on, but no idea if it is delivering power properly, i would replace it, just to be sure
  24. for game,s very few modern games support two gpus in sli or nvlink, keep that in mind, theoretically directx 12 does support two gpus, but the gpus do work alone, no nvlink required on some cases the 4k power will be produced by only one gpu, because game developers moved away from 2 gpu systems, as the rest of the market and nvidia with amd did, sli, nvlink and crossfire, all are pretty much dead having said that, yes, in a small amount of games(that i hope you play) you might benefit from two 2080ti in nvlink look at this video, where pci express speed and other nvlink details are discussed most of the nvlink bridges will limit the design of your pc and the gpus you can buy to use in this setup, because the sli bridge has a fixed lenght and height, meaning that in most cases your gpus cannont be higher than 2 expansion slots and this means that you will almost be using the 2080 ti nvidia design, most of the other designs are 2.5 or 3 slots, even 3.5 slots height, so the bridge will be a problem because it will not fit, in the vide thumbnail you can see there are 2 models basically, one that allows 2 slots and other that alllow 3 slots in terms of distance between the gpus nvlink conectors alot to consider the gpu on top of the sli design will work hotter if remains on air cooling, your original question goes directly on watercooling so i understand that you already considered that limitation in this case you need a case design for two gpus and probably the cpu, this means you might need 2 240mm radiators, a pump, 2 gpu waterblocks for 2080ti nvidia reference model, cpu waterblock, a water reservoir, lots of tubing and lots of connectors ekwb is the manufacturer of thse parts that is more know for having great quality remember that such design means that you will have more to do in terms of maintain the pc at the best performance, clean radiators, fans, check water status/quality, temperatures, check pump is working and water flowing my point is try to convince you not to follow this path, go with 1 gpu, not with 2, avoid the watercooling fight 4k will be doable at higher more stable fps only with next gen gpus, 2090ti is great for 4k but not perfect, but is way better than two gpus and a complicated watercooling system
  25. since i don't know how many hard disk you have there, or if the games are part of steam, probably yes, you need to do that, steam offers a couple ways to make backups and avoid download hundreds of gigabytes of files if your concern is bandwidth and time to download the new installer, follow the steps provided by microsoft in this link https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10 you need a usb drive, 8gbs in size or bigger, follow steps remember that reinstall might delete all yor files, so your question of the games apply to savegame, desktop files, all your personal files, so be sure to make backups of everything before proceeding, use a external hard disk if you can, or a usb flashdrive if you don't have much and the unit is big enough as i mentioned, if the games are from steam, you can ask in their forums how to handle that if the games are from epic, i personally end up almost always redownloading everything, they don't have a real way to do backups, ubiplay and ea, those are almost the same as epic, you can ask them ho to handle that in theyr support forums, but as i mentioned, is almost guaranteed you will end downloading everything, especially if your gaming pc has only one hard disk, and is the same hard disk where your windows installation is located
