    At the end of the day it's your call anyways, if I had asked whether or not I should buy the Bluetooth mouse/keyboard combination I'm using now here, I'd have probably been crucified "Imperically" mechanical keyboards are probably the "best" but I for one can live without it, if that means I can easily stash my peripherals away when I actually need my desk space. If you can live without it for the sake of having the mouse and headphones, you go buddy!

    Don't worry I totally get the matching peripherals thing. Also, if you're coming from an old laptop keyboard anything's going to be better. It's just that if you're already going for new peripherals you might as well treat yourself with something good that won't feel like c**p after a few month of use

    I have had the G213 and personally wasn't that impressed by it tbh. I just wanted something that wouldn't break and chose it because I already had a G403 at that point so I wanted something matching. The keys felt good at first (coming from a super, really old rubber dome keyboard) but ended up falling kind of flat after a bit. The "," and "." started to not actuate until they were pressed all the way down, though to be fair that that's likely just bad luck on my part. It's not a terrible keyboard, but I could've definitely bought something better for the 70€ I paid back then EDIT: also, you definitely notice that the keys are rubber - I didn't know that they were "supposed to feel mech" so maybe that's why I didn't feel it

    What CPU/GPU do you have/ are they running hotter than comfortable? I think leaving it open will in any case improve the cooling situation compared to no fans but idk if it's really worth it depending on how hot your components are to begin with. If I'm not mistaken Jay did a video on this (and Luke too I think) so you may want to check those out I have no experience with them in particular, but there are some 80mm beQuiet fans which I think should be decent. (I have 3 of their 120mm models in my case and they're great).

    Bought an OEM key when I made the jump to Ryzen because I'm not looking to upgrade the platform for the next couple of years. AFAIK you can still upgrade the GPU, which, apart from other minor stuff, is all I'm really planning to do. For any other situation though, or if you're someone who updates more frequently I'd just pay some more up front and be done with it.

    Don't. I'd tell you to wait for Vega but if you really bought a 1080 you're already going to be good for quite some time so I wouldn't worry. What are you doing with it that makes you think you'd need an upgrade?

    Bit the bullet and tried Kinguin a few weeks back for my W10 key and it worked perfectly fine. Not going to lie, I was really relieved when I saw that the key was valid after all the things I've heard about the site though..

    I wouldn't go for an Ultrawide if you aren't even sure whether or not you'll play PC on it. Your PS4 will not play at the 21:9 resolution and you'll end up with black bars on the sides. Personally I'd prefer an IPS monitor over TN, though I think you'll find more affordable fast monitors on the TN side (though don't quote me on that). I'm currently using an old 120Hz TN 23" monitor, but am saving up for a 27" IPS.     Will do, thanks! EDIT: I searched through all the different BIOS sections and didn't find anything like that. Though I did find a post of someone claiming that the ability to disable USB power will be added in a future BIOS update over on the AsRock forums.

    Hello there! I recently picked up an X370 Taichi along with my 1700. Now that I've assembled everything inside my case and set it up on my desk, I've noticed a couple of things: 1) the motherboard always supplies power to its USB ports (which in itself isn't bad but in my case I have an LED-strip connected to it and I'd like that to turn off along with my PC) 2) the lighting beneath the southbridge cooler always stays on as well (edit: doesn't seem to be the case anymore) I already tried enabling "deep sleep" in the BIOS and playing around with various USB power settings in Windows but so far to no effect. There aren't any apparent direct USB power options in the BIOS (say for example like on my old Gigabyte board where it would just say "Supply power to USB when shut off: disabled" or something along those lines). Of course I can simply switch off the PSU on the back of my PC to solve these "issues" but that just feels like a workaround tbh, since I'm sure that there are options for these somewhere in the BIOS. Does somebody happen to know anything else I could try out? I'll be gone at work for the day so I won't be able to try stuff out immediately, though I will be able to respond to further questions and such. I hope somebody can help me Thanks in advance!

    Still, thanks - I just have no clue what drive to pick. Been looking at WD Blacks, but those are 80€ for 1TB so idk, the Seagate one seemed like a good offer.

    A double pack of NZXT Aer fans (with the HUB) will run you around 80€ (German pricing) I think, add another 15€-25€ depending on if you're going with NZXT or Phanteks LED strips.

    I love Ubuntu (GNOME). I hate that I temporarily went back to Windows, but as soon as my Ryzen build is finished and as much of the kinks concerning virtualization and hardware passthrough as possible are fixed I'll fully commit to switching back and just running Windows with my games in a VM. I'm so sick of Windows doing sh*t in the background or just reinstalling some stupid apps with every update. Most of my games on Steam are Linux compatible anyways so there's that too. I miss being able to press ^ and have a terminal drop down from the top of my screen. I miss the clean combination of Icon/Font/Theme that I had installed it was just so. damn. perfect. -__- I miss feeling like I have control about what my computer is doing at any given moment, which no, I don't have in Windows. That's all I have. Linux masterrace and in Wendell we trust.

    I'm going to have to upgrade my GPU before that anyways and since I'm waiting for Vega ... I hope prices will be down some more until then so it'll be worth considering as opposed to buying a second monitor. I just don't see myself using it for all that much and it's hard to justify spending 450€ for a better Elite:Dangerous experience. (for me at least)

    I might be reaching a bit here, but couldn't you also use Thunderbolt docks paired with monitors/peripherals like Linus did in his home setup? You'd have to somehow run cables from your PC to every room, but in theory it would be similar to what you intended to do initially, without having to deal with VMs and file syncing and stuff..

    Ditto - while Linus's setup is cool and a nice proof of concept, it'll cost you. How many PC's do you need? I mean having a decked out gaming rig in your room and a small media PC in the living room is still going to cost you a lot less than what Linus did.

    "If you don't know what you're talking about, try not to get into an argument over it" is something I do a lot. When I do get into an argument I just try to stay as calm and reasonable as I can, trying to destabilize the other person's argument and counter with my own. If they have a point, try to find something on your side that has a bigger impact/ more weight so you can still 'win' kinda sorta. No shame in being factually wrong though, keep that in mind. idk, the only real arguments that didn't end in autistic screeching were in school as an assignment, I always hated that sh*t too then again, I have no problem to just admit that I'm in the wrong if a) I really am or b) it'll get me out of that unpleasant situation. I really have no pride in that regard xp

    I don't know sh*t about overclocking, but maybe there's something wrong with the mobo, assuming you've already installed the latest updates and stuff. The voltage seems high for 3.6Ghz doesn't it?
