I bought a Baked Alaska at a fancy restaurant one time. They poured a sweet liqueur on the cake and set the alcohol on fire! The flame was blue just like that.

Alcohol, in general, produces a blue flame when ignited.  Theoretically, you could set Japanese sake or a goddamn B-52 shot on fire and get the same result.   

@ATFink A lack of carbon is to blame for the blue color. 

Some darker alcohols will just burn the usual orange/yellow because of that.

You can easily color the fire as well.

Want green?  Copper sulfate. 

But you shouldn't eat that.

Actually Copper Sulfate is considered a salt since it is a molecule that is held together by an ionic bond. DO NOT SPRINKLE THAT SALT ON YOUR FOOD!!!
