Campusto got a reaction from Rybo in Against all odds
I have to share this with you, it just boggles my mind that my "trash build" is ACTUALLY working!

So, I was given a 6700K that was bent on two edges of the chip (about 20deg angle) and a motherboard that had (/have) bent pins (and a GTX980 + 16GB memory which are undamaged).
I used a needle to somewhat straighten the mobo pins (the socket still looks like crap) and just decided to try it. It works. How is it possible?
To add to that, I didn't have any thermal paste available (the stores are closed for today), so I used toothpaste (cause I didn't think it'll work anyway). Idle temps at 40C and goes as high as (while playing The Orville, if you're interested) 100C (I'm guessing it's throttling, but still). Hasn't crashed once. I also ran a memory test, and got no errors.

I'll be replacing the toothpaste tomorrow with real thermal paste, but I just can't believe it works! It seems the tech is much more robust than I thought!
Linus might want to make a video of how far damaged stuff is still salvageable!

To me, at this point, paying for FloatPlane is just a means of supporting LinusTechTips rather than a real necessity. The thing that I'd like to see is the banal not edited BTS stuff like once a week and I'd be a subscriber forever, like the model Barnacules is having with Patreon atm with his JITR. Stuff like that makes me feel like a part of the team; of which I dream about like everyday. And I do mean banal. Like setting up the lighting, fluffing the talent...

Campusto reacted to LogicalDrm in New Floatplane Channel Suggestion!
Seeing Linus doing this while back and another youtuber with studio doing same thing (though his background is in vlogging), doing them for need and daily is more stress than you can imagine. Plus with Linus and LMG, they have to be constantly careful not to show embargo stuff before NDA lifts. Thats and overall the small thing called actual working (you can hear employees joking to Linus in currect BTS videos about him not working). No, I still don't see them becoming regular content or full channel/series. They are fun when they happen, sure.

Not a floatplane club member but this sounds like something I'd probably check out

I love BTS videos. How about a BTS channel with Channel Super Fun content aswell as daily 1-10 min non-edited BTS videos? I'd pay for it. I mean like "Todays lighting setup" and "Lenses for this shoot" and "This is why we are late... Brandon! ;)" shot with a phone, or something. Anyone else?  Sorry if this has been suggested before

    Hi!

Had this crazy idea. Started from Helsinki, Finland and travelled to LMG HQ. No one was home (it was a sunday) but atleast I got to see the front door and Linus's office from the upstairs window, so I feel I almost met him!   I dared to park on their spot too!

7500 km travelled and didn't get to see my heroes!  I'll be in Vancouver until the 24th, so I'll just miss LTX

If the guys at HQ are Ok with it, I'd like to drop off my gift at the front door at office hours my self, but I don't know if they'd rather me just send it via UPS or something. If anyone knows, drop me hint so I wont make a bigger ass of myself
