  1. You want something like this. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5V-3-Pin-to-12V-4-Pin-RGB-HUB-5V-to-12V-Motherboard-RGB-Lighting-Converter-/402270592900?_trksid=p2349526.m4383.l4275.c10 US Listing https://www.ebay.com/itm/5V-3-Pin-to-12V-4-Pin-RGB-HUB-5V-to-12V-Motherboard-RGB-Lighting-Converter-PC/184289721437?hash=item2ae885fc5d:g:tBYAAOSwRXxeuu2e
  2. I've done some searching around but cant find anything suitable, the closest i've found is a wifi controlled usb adapter from SONOFF but its for controlling power not data, i'm not even sure it lets any data through. https://sonoff.tech/product/wifi-diy-smart-switches/micro-usb-smart-adaptor Also i don't think your powered hub idea will work. Powered hubs still work unpowered, they just supply less current, if you usb hdd can run off usb power it will likely still work through a hub. If your handy you can DIY it with this https://www.itead.cc/sonoff-re5v1c.html Cut up and solder a cheap usb cable to the DC 5v input and power for another port on the xbox. Carefully cut open your hdd's(or any compatible) usb 3 cable, cut just the 5v power wire and solder the cut wires to the relay contacts. then just wrap with electrical tape or use a piece or heat shrink to make it look pretty. Done. Now you have a wifi controlled usb 3 cable. usb pinout and wire colour info https://www.aggsoft.com/usb-pinout-cable/usb3.htm
  3. Sorry about garbage resolution, if its unclear i superimposed the dimensions image from the ali express listing on to your case. Unfortunately they do not match, the usb sockets sit closer to the jacks on the ali express part. if you can take the usb board out of your case and take pictures/measurements you/i may be able to find something that fits, but if they manufactured the board themselves it may not match anything anyone else is making. in may be easier to just bring some usb 3 from the back with a small hub
  4. It really depends on the case. If you look closely at the picture it looks like it comes with a foam sticky pad pre-applied.
  5. The splitter looks like the cheapest and easiest option, also looks like it would be easy to hide. I can't see any issues running bluetooth and the front panel over what is essentially a internal usb hub.
  6. I'm a little lost, does the pcie wifi card need an internal usb connection too?
  7. I had tons of issues when i started using poweline, This little trick fixed 98% of them. most(all?) powerline equipment has power saving sleep modes built in, this little script pings the router every second stopping the adapter going to sleep while your using it. @OnionRings Powerline is one of the easiest ways to add wired networking but its not perfect, like @LunaP0n3 said a lot of stuff can affect the link quality. The only way to know if it works for you is by trying it. On my relatively modern wiring i get a fast and stable connection(once i started using the trick in the video). Make sure to get the correct set for the speed you want, the av600 sets use 100mbps ethernet(sold as 300mbps, WTF) and in real use manage 60-70mbps(at least on my particular setup). If your needs are higher you should look for av1000 or av1300. I've recently upgraded to the UK version of this AV1300 kit, it uses gigabit and i've not managed to max it out yet, it handles my full 200mbps internet without issue. Also if its more cost effective you can run multiple devices from a single socket powerline adaper using a cheap ethernet switch. I run my entire media setup(HTPC, TV, consoles, etc) on a single socket adapter without issue.
  8. Yeah the socket is almost identical(1 pin difference) but there not compatible.
  9. Like i've been looking at this supported cpu list this whole time but never thought to share it with you. https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A87TD_EVO/HelpDesk_CPU/
  10. Unfortunately the asus board does not support fx cpu's. You can use am3 cpu's on am3+ boards but it doesn't work the other way around. I don't care how old you are, you seem smart, you've been able to everything i've asked. I was an idiot at 14(can still be an idiot at times).
  11. If you know the cpu and motherboard had worked together in the past there's no point, the motherboard is faulty. But if not it may be worth buying that cheap cpu to update and test it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-CPU-Sempron-140-2-7GHz-Socket-AM2-AM3/182999371026 I didn't not believe you i just couldn't find it on the wiki. You do get some results on google but there's not much, it's probably just a really obscure business part. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_AMD_Phenom_microprocessors#fn_3_back
  12. If it is a Athlon II X4 640 the gigabyte board should be able to recognise it, its supported from bios v1. I can't even find an X4 B55, I can find a X2 B55. If you update the bios it may show up properly. I just noticed on the asus website that the original motherboard needs a newer bios for the Athlon II X4 640. Because you said it was your old system i had assumed they worked together in the past. the motherboard is from 2009 the cpu is from 2011 you may just need an update.
  13. no its fine, the extra connector is for higher power cpu's. it should work fine with the one(assuming the cpu's not toast).
  14. You could also pull the battery off the gigabyte board for testing
  15. Your good, the Athlon II X4 640 is on the supported cpu list.
  16. Not much, am3+ for the most part is backwards compatible with am3. If you give me the model number i can tell you if your cpu is supported.
  17. Ok, the next logical thing to test is the cpu. Same as the ram, different cpu in the board, cpu in a different board. But understandably this is not always possible, not many people have spare cpu's/motherboards lying around. You can get a compatible sempron 140 for $4.50 on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/AMD-CPU-Sempron-140-2-7GHz-Socket-AM2-AM3/182999371026 I do have some easier things you can try first though. Disconnect everything except what is needed to boot, no hdd's no peripherals, no fans(even the cpu fan) just the motherboard, cpu, gpu and power. Try without the gpu, i know there's no integrated graphics but if could tell us something. See what the battery does.
  18. Overall its a solid build. The only thing i'd really change is the power supply, i didn't even know bitfenix made them, its not even modular. I'd go with this one from evga its a few $ cheaper and its semi modular. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/DmWrxr/evga-bq-600w-80-bronze-certified-semi-modular-atx-power-supply-110-bq-0600-k1 You also may have to update the bios on the motherboard. here's some info: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/pa-100 I'm sorry but i have to disagree, the included wraith stealth cooler is junk, it runs hot and gets loud when you push it. The upgraded cooler will be quieter and allow the cpu to boost higher. This is a myth, a internet fallacy. There are no compatibility issues using amd with intel.
  19. I'm trying to help you out here, if you tell me you have done something you haven't i'm working on faulty information.
  20. cable mod make a bracket to do just that. https://eustore.cablemod.com/product/cablemod-vertical-pci-e-bracket-hdmi-displayport-black/
  21. I too am a happy PIA user. This is a non compete clause and is quite standard in business. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Non-compete_clause Confidentiality agreement. also standard. Its his money he can spend it on what he wants. How are we suffering? The service is well priced and works well. Does PIA even hold customer data? i was given a auto generated username and password when i signed up. all they have is my paypal email. Its just a salty ex employee venting, trying to make something out of nothing.
  22. There are switches designed specifically to be stood on. these could be built into your wood assembly https://www.newark.com/e-switch/fs5700spmt2b2m1qe/foot-pb-sw-spdt-1a-9vdc-1-7kgf/dp/18AC1546 you can also get complete units https://www.newark.com/linemaster/t-91-s/switch-foot-spdt-15a-250v/dp/04M4609 you can also get giant arcade buttons https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.A0.H0.TRS1&_nkw=100mm+arcade+button&_sacat=0
  23. Did the system not work with different memory? Did the memory work in a different system?
