well, everything with 10gb is expensive. I'd be happy to trade my z490 xtreme for x570 xtreme, but that's unlikely to happen.
It seems that you can have x8/x8/x4 in few motherboards for graphics/ssd/nic. But that's ATX boards and at this point I'd rather keep existing board (with 10gbe onboard and extra pcie slot(s) for NVMes that I have already).

Alternatively I'm thinking about ITX plus M.2 to PCIe adapter in 2nd M.2 slot. That way I'm getting full x16 slot, 10gbe and single M.2. Sounds complicated, but doable.

I would really like to see a well-designed rack, which I can put in my apartment and it won't looks like piece of enterprise equipment. May be 2x19(21)" wide and put a TV on top. With tempered glass doors.
I'd really like to have some "rackable" equipment, but it will look like crap in nice apartment.
I know about Ikea stand, but I'd like something a bit more strudy.

Get a Xeon, old gens are cheaper, yet pretty powerful.
You can easily get 8 core(16 threads) E5-2670 for $80, or older E3-1230 for $150.

Depends on how much money you're willing to spend. If you wanna do PCoIP for internet lounge, I'd definately go with E5-2670 Xeon. May be even Dual CPU rig for future upgrades.

    Crazy big and pricey.
I do want a big tower. But just make EVOLV EATX: No 5.25 on the front, TG on one side. May be rotate PSU (and add fans on the bottom).

Oh. I though about different use.
If you're planning on gaming and installing a videocard - that's a bit different story. I'd stick with i3 or i5. Whatever you find cheaper

I thought that you want to create a server(s), and connect using PCoIP or something like that. In that case you don't even need a PC, and I remember PCoIP monitors on sale for less then $100. That might be a good idea, if you wanna think of it

Change your cable for that link.
100Mbps link uses 4 wires out of 8. Gig link uses all 8. Guess you have issues with one wire/port/jack.
