I keep trying to redeem it and it says the serial number I've entered is wrong. Guess I'll have to contact Asus regarding this.

Well, if you aren't even applying load the CPU, ofc it's going to bounce up and down. Put it under a heavy stress test that will use all cores and you should see all cores having high temps, rather than just one of them.
See above. His sensor is not faulty. What's faulty is a defective piece located between the monitor and the chair

I've had the same issue with Corsair AIO stock fans.  The problem only occurred when the fans were configured as exhaust fans at the top of the case where they were mounted in a manner where the rotational assembly was hanging by the motor/bearings.

When I flipped the fans over, the noise went away, but air flow was in the opposite direction of what I wanted.

I didn't keep it that way.  I moved the radiator to the front of the case, which resulted in a vertical mount.  The fans no longer made the bearing noise at max speed and I placed other non Corsair fans in the top of the case as exhaust.

I've read mostly good things about the VG248QE. The only negative things I've read is that the color is "bland"... But apparently you can adjust the color profiles to make it look excellent and there are forum members that actually released their settings for the best color. I actually just bought the VG278HE which is very similar with a 27" screen (except that it has 2ms response time and the resolution scale is a bit worse) and I absolutely love it! The 144Hz is something that cannot be described in words... I would go for the Asus.

Every person I ask IRL says the same damn thing "Better to get the better quality one because it's better than buying 2 of the cheap ones when the first one breaks", that kinda stuff is all I hear, suppose I'll go for the Asus one so and post back here when I get it just in case someone else is looking at it too.

    Thanks everyone

Ended up going with the ROG Strix. Microcenter had good pricing on them and honestly it was an availability thing as well. Just liked the look of it better than the EVGA ones. It runs awesome and the cooler is great. I have 2 in SLI and at idle the fan doesn't even run on it and idles about 35c. Using ASUS GPU Tweak I'm seeing 2000mhz in OC mode and under full load ~65c on the main card and ~58C on the top card.

Its so quiet in comparison to the whirlwind generating TRI-X 290Xs I had. I'll take my chances with ASUS Support.

You have not given us any information with which to help you. computer shutting off could be a number of reasons (even windows telling it to go to sleep or shut off because its been inactive for a set amount of time).

It could be thermal shutdown. it could be faulty hardware. it could be your power bar in your wall being overstressed. it could be a loose wire. it could be a ton of things. we need more information. if you're worried about thermals, get a hardware monitoring software of some sort and report back to us on your temperatures. if you're worried about your PSU, let us know the name of the PSU, how long you've had it, what its rated output is. It would also help to know what you're doing when it shuts itself off.

There simply is not enough information here to help us help you; but we would like to =)

Hey guys just wanted to share my PC. I put a lot of time and work and planning into this. It's almost done just awaiting a PSU cover and a custom GPU backplate. Also have a few more cables to sleeve.

here is the backplate I am awaiting.
