So I installed a nvme drive in the m2 slot of a Dell Latitude 3590. Drive was recognized in Windows, launched Clonezilla to clone drive to drive. The old drive failed halfway through and had to abort the copy. (hdd is dead). I removed the old drive and tried to just install windows but the nvme drive ain't recognized in the bios now. How do it fix that?

People talk like Github is git itself. It ain't. I personally use Gitlab... If microsoft stop improvements or make bad decisions, people will just move away from it. I don't see them fuck it up anytime soon, they got no interest in that.

Hey ! I'm looking to replace my current backup software. I need differential backups and Cobian doesn't work for me. It's doing a full backup every night wich takes too long... Can't do incremental either as I need every files on multiple disk. The software will be running on a Windows server 2012. The total size is about 1.5TB and increase by maybe 500mb/1gb a week. Anyway, what do you guys are using ? Any suggestions ? I just need differential and the ability to run the backup as another user (impersonation). A nice bonus would be to backup from an FTP location (not TO) but I could keep Cobian around for that task.

A power user browser that still haven't implemented sync 2+ years later even if it's the most requested feature. Like I'm gonna manually sync my bookmark, history and extension between 3 computers and my phone xD. Not gonna happen. Still waiting before giving Vivaldi a full tryout as my main. They should just use a 3rd party infrastructure for now and implement their own thing later. Like sync to your own Google Drive, Dropbox or whatever. Not the best but enough to attract people and gain market share.

Ubuntu will ship with Gnome in 18.04. So this is still Unity...

Project Scorpio Supports FreeSync and HDMI 2.1 VRR
dmegatool replied to FirstArmada's topic in Tech News
Cause G-Sync is better ! Seriously, I'm an Nvidia user and I wanted Freesync to be supported since it was announced. But as soon as they announce that they support both G and free, G-Sync is over. Manfacturer won't put the extra chip in the monitors just for fun... -
Calm down there and try it for yourself. I just gave Elementary OS a spin this week. I thought to myself "After all theses years, I'm sure Linux is better and you don't have to fuck around in the terminal". Within 10 minutes of using it, I had to dig into command lines. My bluetooth headphones had a 1 second delay making watching video impossible. After re-pairing them, they only worked with the shitty "phone profile". The trackpad of my macbook was working like shit. Had to install a 3rd party driver to ignore resting thumbs and support multitouch clicks... Again, took forever in the command line installing manually multiple dependencies. Scrolling ain't smooth as OSX. Hell it's ain't as smooth as Windows. I seriously want to love Linux. I use it everyday at work on all my servers. But that's all it's good for. Command line. Compatibilty and usuability is not there yet (after all theses years, seriously !?). I'll try it again in 5 years...

Gimp 2.10 changelog revealed, here's what to expect
dmegatool replied to suicidalfranco's topic in Tech News
Pixelmator is a really nice alternative on the Mac. Way more polished than Gimp... it's 30$ which is cheap when you compare. But it's nice to see a crossplatform alternative keep moving foward. -
I ended up using my phone's mic. I use Wo mic app on my phone and the client on the PC. The mic can be beamed via usb, bluetooh or wifi (which I'm using). Great sound quality, low latency, good enough. I let it sit right next to me on the couch... great !

Wow that sucks... What are my option then ? "Gaming headsets" that will use a dongle I guess ?
-
Is it possible to get audio and use the mic of a bluetooth headset simultaneously ? I got 2 headset here and they work the same way, you either listen or speak. When I try to use the mic, the sound cut off. I can switch the default playback device to "hands free" and it works... but the sound quality is terrible. I played around with Virutal Audio Cable trying to get around that. But as soon as I foward the sound of the mic to a cable, my audio cuts out. Help ?

Mac Pro Desktop officially hasn't been updated in over 1000 days
dmegatool replied to goodtofufriday's topic in Tech News
Yeah all about the cost. I really liked firewire back in the days. Was faster, you could daisy chain it and there was little feature on my Macbook not avaible on usb. Like the ability to put your laptop in "Target drive mode" and connect to other computer to be recognized as an HDD. Made it so simple to tranfert files fast and reliably. On the topic, the Mac Pro is still probably the fastest mac available. Pro's using it are surely doing things like Final Cut and other exclusive software. Will they switch because it's been too long ? Probably not. It will take longer than that. And by that time, if the Mac Pro is updated, they'll just stick to it. Changing the workflow of a whole team can be time consuming and just not worth it. -
iPhone 7's lightning cable is not better than 3.5 mm headphone jack
dmegatool replied to captain_to_fire's topic in Tech News
Just wait for it... -
I guess it's not only tied to the phone number. I mean, what do you do on your wifi tablet ? Hope you can signup using your phone and then it's working with your email... It's kinda cool to have something like Facetime but that work across iOS and Android. Seriously what do you guys use when you need to video chat with relatives ? Skype ? At the moment, the easiest option for me is to use Facebook Messenger, which isn't always great.

Microsoft's war on every other browser continues
dmegatool replied to suicidalfranco's topic in Tech News
I just switched to Opera for the heck of it recently. It's great ! It's got all the extension support, you can get cross platform sync (in my case Win, OSX, Android), there's some nice little feature built-in like the floating videos overlay... So... so good so far ! Give it a shot if you're looking for a change. To be honest, it's not much of a change as it's sooo similar.
