  1. HDMI 1, 2 or 3 on the receiver. Try updating firmwares too.
  2. Pretty good for the price in my opinion. Similar to Mordaunt Short Carnival speakers.
  3. Cars are hitting crazy numbers nowadays... https://youtu.be/1e4D4b5U7aYhttps://youtu.be/cr2JAoqA7Ro?t=2m6s
  4. UHD Bluray also requires Kaby Lake / Coffee Lake at this point. The only Windows software I know that supports its playback (PowerDVD) requires Intel graphics at the moment. Nvidia mentioned that they are working with Cyberlink to possibly enable support for Pascal though.
  5. Global Foundries' 12 nm node is a refinement of the current 14 nm process. This is like Samsung's 11 nm process (which is scaled from their 14 nm). Samsung claims 15% efficiency improvement with this shrink, so I'm guessing Global Foundries could reach the same, as they are working with similar tech.
  6. You can check some of your options here: https://www.richersounds.com/hi-fi/separates/amplifiers-receivers.html They have a good selection in the 80-150 GBP range. What other equipment are you planning to add? Are you running an external DAC at the moment?
  7. It should be able to. Have you tried using different media? Less reflective media work poorly with older playback transports.
  8. They still support them with security patches (they're actually pretty good at this). Even the S4 (2013 model) is still getting security patches this year. They don't always get OS upgrades, however (especially true for entry level models). Their flagships typically get 2 or 3 OS upgrades, while their midrange devices typically get 1 or 2 upgrades.
  9. I see. That'd let you skip the phono preamp then.
  10. What sort of record player do you have? Does it have a phono preamp built-in? If not, does it have a Moving Magnet or a Moving Coil cartridge? Something like this might work: https://www.amazon.com/Denon-AVRS510BT-R-Refurbished-Receiver-Bluetooth/dp/B017AECEJI https://www.amazon.com/Polk-Audio-T50-Theater-Standing/dp/B013LIN5W2 (two of these) A phono preamp may have to be added depending on your turntable type. For a moving magnet cartridge only: https://www.amazon.com/ART-Audio-DJPRE-Turntable-Preamplifier/dp/B000AJR482 Works for both moving magnet and moving coil cartridges: https://www.amazon.com/Pro-Ject-Audio-Phono-preamp-output/dp/B007DB5I60
  11. Freesync is also useful outside of 3D. Full screen videos can benefit from perfect cadence. I love how I get to view videos of different frame rates with no judder without manually switching the monitor refresh rate to match.
  12. Acer Predator Helios 300 https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-GeForce-Backlit-G3-571-77QK/dp/B06Y4GZS9C
  13. Are you taking mostly daytime photography? I'm wondering because you're only considering superzooms. They're generally quite limited at this price point. The DMC-FZ82 may work for you (300 odd quid through Argos) if you can stay at ISO 800 or lower.
  14. FastSync will keep the monitor refresh rate the same, I believe. It may remove tearing, but it does not render FreeSync pointless (especially if the minimum frame rates are dropping below the refresh rate). If you have the power budget, I'd say Vega. I wish TVs had Freesync because it's lovely for video (allows for judder-free playback of 24Hz, 25Hz, 50Hz, etc. material). The only thing I see missing in Vega is VP9 decode support (and maybe PlayReady 3.0 support).
  15. I have some old full frame Pentax and Nikon lenses that I use on my m43 body. They work great for slow photography, but many of them are now starting to cloud with smoky haze. http://www.kenrockwell.com/tech/flashlight-test.htm
  16. I think it's a very nice phone, but I probably won't be buying one. Instead of getting a $900 phone, I'd rather get a $450 one and replace it every year (instead of every other year).
  17. Here's one that might work too: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIAE6560D4276&cm_re=redmi_note-_-9SIAE6560D4276-_-Product
  18. It seems like it's within your range: https://buymobile.com.au/products/samsung-galaxy-j7-pro-2017-j730gm-dual-sim-32gb-4g-lte It also covers all the bands in your country: https://www.frequencycheck.com/compatibility/wa0XTn/samsung-sm-j730gm-ds-galaxy-j7-pro-2017-duos-td-lte/australia
  19. If you won't be gaming, check the Samsung J7 Pro. Decent phone overall (OLED screen, power efficient SoC, usable camera, metal build, etc.) and Samsung has a proven history when it comes to security patches.
  20. May be worth a look: https://www.richersounds.com/catalog/product/view/id/11015/s/cambridge-topaz-am1-blk/category/16/
  21. All are 50/60 Hz panels, so they will all judder with 24 Hz material. Another downside of the Sharp is the lack of 4:4:4 color support at 4K 60Hz, but most thunderbolt to HDMI dongles don't support this anyway (check if yours does).
  22. They are for 4K on the PC. They require Pascal with at least 3GB of onboard memory (or Kaby Lake / Coffee Lake IGP) at the moment. You can plug in a GTX 1050Ti, and that should allow you to stream Netflix videos at 4K and play some games at 1080p.
  23. What is your standard for fantastic color? Almost all wide color gamut TVs are UHD screens. If you can find a 40MU7000 at that price, that'd be a great candidate. Otherwise, this may be worth a look: https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/samsung-40-4k-ultra-hd-hdr-led-smart-tv-un40mu6300-un40mu630d-refurbished/10757960.aspx
  24. You need an amplifier between the DAC and those speakers.
