Implodinghaze got a reaction from GMS12121 in upgrading laptop displays
Yes you can, but its not straight forward. I have done this on my hp envy laptop about 6 months ago.
For your laptop (i did a quick google search) you need a new display panel (full hd in your case) and ALSO a new display cable. The one built into YOUR laptop is only rated to run 768p to your 768p screen, so you will need to buy this as well.
Use this link to help you find the parts needed: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04402649  (PAGE 88)
    Also: http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-Pavilion-15-Notebook-PC-series/6936226/model/7132565/manuals
Looking at this your laptop screen part number is: 764623-001 (Full HD non touch)
and this is the cable part number: 762544-001 (Full HD cable)

I would also buy my screen from laptopscreen.com, this is who i used when upgrading, great price and product.
https://www.laptopscreen.com/English/model/HP-Compaq/764623-001/ ( <--- there are 4(four) types of screens you can get FHD glossy and matte and FHD IPS glossy and matte. The IPS panel are apparently slightly thicker so it may or may not fit)

The display cable you might need to do a quick google search on to get a good price as my google results are mostly New Zealand web sites.

Hope this is enough info for you,

    cheers

dude, go buy something second-hand, an old 7770 would be way better than a new 730 or 210. Go search on ebay, it will be worth it!

    As long as the:
Mountain Orientation (side mount, top mount, etc etc)
    Bezel area
    Active area
    Thickness
Connector (40-pin LVDS in this case; this is cleared)

Are all equal, then you can swap the screens with ease. If you know the actual panel name (for example my screen's name is a LP173WF2-TPB1; model numbers look like that) you can go on www.panelook.com and search them up, and add them to a "compare" and then check the available information for them.

Please note: sometimes the machines will hate screens that aren't the one they're sold with, and will lock out brightness adjustments (both in windows and in hotkeys) for the screen.... but you can fix this with registry hacks. As for actually doing it, I can't help with the registry hacking part, but the folks over on notebookreview's forums might. Lots of people that do aftermarket upgrades to their laptops there (including myself).

    Good luck!

NB: it *IS* important to make sure dimensions are the same, because sometimes different laptop variants have different LCD cover sizes: for example the clevo P650SA cannot use the 1080p IPS panel that the P650SE and P650SG can take, etc etc, even though they have few differences other than the GPU (A = 965M, E = 970M, G = 980M).

Try ebay for some Korean panels, they are great!
For the price you could get 2 or 3 for under $1000. The Qnix (linked below) is awesome, and i have overclocked mine to 96Hz straight out of the box!

Also check out this store, they have good feedback and use them all the time! http://stores.ebay.com/greensum/
    (plus they have free shipping!!!)

Implodinghaze got a reaction from marioo1182 in (idea) What about a LTT Repair form/guide?
I was thinking about putting together an LTT repair form/guide for the community. This could help communicate problems people have with technology in an "Easy-to-Read" and informative post.
The repair form could be quoted and/or posted in posts where people find it hard to communicate ideas/problems. For examples, in posts where english is a second language or what to give background information is an easy way.
Granted, sometimes it easier for you to just type the problem out in less than a second then fill in a BIG form. But it could come in handy!

    Example:
Title/brief description: _____________ Hardware Effected:________________ (E.g CPU, Mouse etc.) Time period :______________________ (how long has it been happening) Problem :_____________________________ _______________________________________ _______________________________________ What have you tried? (what have you done to try fix the problem yourself) ______________________________________________ ______________________________________________ PC Spec's (Optional) CPU: GPU: RAM: MOBO: PSU: HDD: What do you guys think? What would you add or remove?

Anywhere you like! This is more a simplified version that you could either:
    Start a post with or
Reply to a post where you can't understand the problem, due to bad communication.
