  1. whats rip about this lol. it's a update that lays out things to do till TD2 is out for current players to earn stuff for.
  2. lol what. basically unplayable? i unlocked my operators with renown and i'm a casual as fuck player who only plays co op with my friends every now and again when we get the urge to play and i didn't need to grind "100s of hours to get a few operators" did you even play r6s. i barely crossed 50 hours of playtime and i have all the operators i cared about playing.
  3. so you gonna complain about lootboxes being in the division too? since its from ubisoft? hmm? i mean like it or not but lootboxes are basically an industry standard at this point. unless its completely outlawed globally it ain't going away period. so how do we stop this from being "predatory"? making sure kids don't get to buy this type of boxes. if you're an adult or at least like 18+ you should be capable of making your own god damn decisions with your money. The devs don't need to hand hold every single player and hope they don't dump all their life savings into lootboxes. the lootboxes in the division for example is just all skins and emotes, you literally don't need it to play the game whatsoever. most of the skins that can be picked up often even look better than the ones from the boxes. you can buy keys for the boxes or simply pick up the keys from drops by playing the game. i have more keys than i know what to do with and after opening the boxes for awhile the novelty kinda wears off. sometimes i find myself thinking, i can spend my time doing better things in the game than opening those lootboxes. sure there will always be whalers in all sorts of games everywhere, but they've been a thing since forever. I would even say for the division's case the micro transactions might've even literally saved the game. player numbers were in the shithole and now its the refugee camp for destiny 2 players. i would guess that without people spending money on the game, ubisoft would've most likely told massive to just bring the game into maintenance mode after the first 2 years. But now its looking like its gonna continue strong till whatever sequel comes out. I've sunk hundreds of hours and have been there when it was the worst and quit the game after, but here i am even hoping for a paid expansion. if a game has microtransactions, fine whatever you know what you are buying into. As long as there is no P2W elements to it, its your own responsibility and pprerogative to buy things. if a game doesn't have microtransactions, even better. But hopefully the devs can hope to support the game for a good while especially for online multiplayer games with only the initial money stream.
  4. so they are expected to just say don't buy our stuff because of increased prices? obviously they cannot control what retailer sells at. being a business they undoubtedly want to maximize profits and high demand with limited supply offers huge returns. management and shareholders probably can't give 2 shits about whats happening as long as they see the products fly off the production line as soon as they are ready and that is what exactly is happening. What benefit is it to a company like AMD to bump up production to keep up with the inflated supply. what happens if the crypto market collapses? AMD will suffer due to investing in upping production to unsustainable levels. It literally makes AMD take in all the risk you imagine yourself as a shareholder of said company and their CEO tells you during a meeting that they lost millions due to investing in increased production because of people qq-ing about retailer price gouging and then the demand fizzled out. So who is responsible then. i'm pretty sure they have proper financial teams that have gone over the potential short-term gains over the risks involved and deemed it not wise to ramp up production to unsustainable levels.
  5. the entire article seems pretty sketch imo. "industry sources". no hard facts only hearsay. Plus they can't seem to figure out how AMD doesn't profit off retailer markups. Sure HBM2 was expensive, probably more than what they have anticipated and planned for. however they can surely still take the cost hit easily.(you don't design a card like this and only plan to make like 50 dollars in profit. How can it even cover R&D which should be a big factor. imo they probably planned to make like $200 per card?) They make money off frontier editions, vega 56 from non full functioning dies. so there is surely wiggle room in there for some loss. Maybe(we really don't know. judging from BOM cost isn't sufficient information) vega 64 is making a loss or only breaking even. Technically its bad however the vega architecture as a whole is probably still in the green. So even if vega 64 is a flop on the gaming side of things, if sales can cover the cost of their R&D then its still fine imo. Nobody seems to know anything so we should probably not jump to conclusions
  6. yeah i don't mean that it might be a bad thing. I feel like the article talking about it being bad for investors cause of the whole X, non X thing don't really make sense. AMD pretty much hit their Q1 target from their Q4 forecast despite being a bad quarter for tech.
  7. i seriously don't feel like the projected 1% gross margin decrease for Q2 is due to people purchasing the non x variants over the x variants. Sure savvy enthusiasts might go for the non x version for the price to performance ratio but likely the majority of common folk buying might just buy the x version cause theres an X in it. the current Q1 results have 1 month of ryzen 7 sales. Q2 will be a mix of ryzen 7 and 5. since both are cut from the same wafer wouldn't it make sense for the ryzen 5s to be significantly less profitable than the ryzen 7? ryzen 5s will likely outsell ryzen 7s heavily due to the price point, which will in turn pull the gross margin down if everything else stays the same. i can imagine that supplying console socs isn't very high margin as well, probably earning from sheer volume.
  8. while i agree that when it comes to ITX, its usually for the prosumers, its not exactly true that ITX builds costs more. conversely, you are likely to spend less. when you compare a good ITX case to a good ATX one, most of the time the ATX costs more. you can argue that there are cheap ATX cases no doubt, but thats not exactly fair is it? there are also cheap ITX cases. motherboards don't exactly cost alot more than their equal counterparts. not an earth shattering amount anyway. PSUs are pretty much equal as well. if comparing something like a sfx600w gold from silverstone to a evga 600w gold one. cooling solutions are likely to cost less for ITX instead since you are space constrained and won't be able to fit something like a top end air cooler or 240 aio. similarly, thermal constrains may even push you to selecting lower tdp components or even avoid oc-ing all together. of course i don't have exact prices, all these just off the top of my head. in the end this argument is a moot point if you aren't comparing as equal as possible as ATX has alot more cheaper varieties so yes in that sense ATX is cheaper or rather it is possible for ATX to be cheaper.
  9. I play the division and the dx12 patch brought my 380 nitro from 45fps to 55-60fps give or take at the same settings. While I had to reset my OC since the latest drivers doesn't sit well with multi monitors. Noticeably better with a lot less dips/stutters.
  10. recall might also be related to the reboot loops plaguing many sets of devices across multiple regions
  11. So my Acer S7-392 just died on me. (Refuses to turn on regardless of what i do, battery reset etc) Now i'm considering a new laptop while i send my S7 for warranty. (Will probably re-purpose it after i get it back for something else or sell it all together) After my experience with an ultrabook I don't really wish to go back to the 15w sku processors. Namely the U part. Even though the i7-4510U in my S7 is plenty fast, it chugs along when i'm doing lots of things. So i'm pretty much limited to something with a 4core sku and at the same time i don't wish for bulky gaming laptops since i won't be using it for gaming. Here is where the Thinkpad T460P comes in, 4core sku selection with an optional 940mx. (the 940mx seems nice for some lan gaming, added bonus) I'm looking to get some thoughts on this particular model mainly with regards to its thermals. The specs i'm currently looking into is i7-6820hq (the 6820 is cheaper than the 6700 and i don't know why) 16gb 2133mhz 512gb ssd (possible 256gb nvme ssd instead) 940mx 1440p IPS screen? (maybe or just the 1080p IPS might do. i'm not that sure yet) So depending on the configuration it should set me back around 1950-2250ish SGD before tax (about 1400 - 1650 USD equivalent) Now, for those with experience with the T460P, how does its thermals look like at normal workloads? I've seen reviews around saying it gets pretty hot in synthetics for the 6700hq but i'm more concerned on typical workloads. The 6820hq part just kind of worries me. Also, is the dock worth trying out? I do plug in external display/keyboard/mice etc all the time when i'm at my desk and the convenience to plonk it in after getting home from work seems nice.
  12. the enthusiast market isn't where the money is at. mainstream i.e 970/390 and lower is where the bulk of the market is. why launch a flagship card that would more than likely make up the minority of their margin when you can lead your launch with what makes you actual money. So it makes sense to launch the more mainstream class cards first that will more than likely go into prebuilts and laptops. We should also take the word "mainstream" with a pinch of salt nowadays. AMD seems to be pushing VR to be mainstream and a 970/390 class card is like the minimum. Extrapolating from that and it would say that the "new mainstream" would likely be above 970/390 in performance
  13. btsync. keeps all my files between my pc and laptop synced no problem
  14. its nothing comprehensive yes. nothing like poe. but to say it's not a skill tree? why? however at least the skill tree allows for variation in play style. (a medic focused style, dps, tanky etc) on top of the fact that the skills tie into your gear pretty heavily. in the cbt and obt you could barely do any of it. you simply aimed for the yellow items in the safe room in the dz and thats about it. i rocked the pahkan+purple m1a during the obt most of the time with the heal+sticky bomb. now i find myself gravitating towards the shield and sidearm heavily. on top of that, if you play solo you need to balance all 3 which is difficult to do. also, i didn't say that it's different. so please don't say i said that. i simply mentioned that the content available is only around 10% of its entirety. Now there is abilities, talents and also perks. Everything you get from unlocking your 3 main wings. Plus, along with unlocking those 3 wings you get access to more functions in the game, like the armory, re rolling your weapon stats etc. Also you finally could up your filter level and craft stuff. So yeah you could get a gist of how the game would play out from the cbt + obt. the game mechanics can't exactly change fundamentally. So yes it feels like it will be a grind, doing the same things over and over. the game just came out, there's still the end game content to look forward to. i'm also curious. do you own the game? have you played it? if you have, did you at least put a decent amount of time into it? or did you base this via the cbt/obt? or maybe you didn't even play the game and simply watched or read about it. have you tried soloing in the dz? its tough, you can get picked on by groups. its exciting, knowing you can get shot by any group you come by.(because its 2v1, 3v1, 4v1 etc people tend to pick on you.) however, you can say that it promotes group play and that going solo is stupid since there is matchmaking. i beg to differ, its an rpg type game. i've dropped a 4 man rogue group back in the obt alone by myself. why? not because i'm some godtier player, but because they were poorly geared. end of story. going solo is a perfectly fine way to play, it increases the difficulty since the enemies don't scale to 1 person in the dz unlike in the pve area. they have also increased the difficulty in the dz so you should go try it. solo in the dz. See how you fare. If you feel like just dropping dead the moment a group of rogues try to kill you and have no qualms about it then i guess yeah its takes some of the challenge away. making sure you can put up a fight when its 2v1 or 3v1 or even 4v1, now thats a lot more difficult. Of course i'm not some mlg player. so maybe i'm just a scrub who can't play. This is just based on my own experience. But if you did buy the game and didn't find it fun, i'm sorry you don't find it worth your money. Things i find fun: Going around doing the missions and side missions and what not. looking for the collectibles along the way. finding the next better gear for my character Being able to jump in with my friends and mess around in the dz. Be it collecting loot or rogue hunting etc. Solo-ing in the dz, knowing that i'm alone and don't have anyone to depend on. group and solo play style varies and personally it keeps it fresh, switching back and forth. Spending hours in the dz just doing it over and over and over. why? i don't know why, i just like it. it appeals to me. Maybe it stemmed from me playing an mmorpg for 8 years that had no quest system or goal in place and just simply played to gear and level up. Just to reiterate. YES, the gameplay is repetitive. don't need to say its boring over and over again. I myself don't know how long i will be playing this. but then, spending 40usd on a decent game imo and playing for a solid 2-3 months? i'd say not too bad. who knows i might play longer. So now, did you find in any way why the game is bad? boring to you is one thing. does the game have anything game breaking in any way that made it shit? graphics are still really good, despite the downgrades, runs pretty well still. (you could say you got cheated, fair enough) the ai could be better, but they seemed to have remedied it at the moment with greater numbers. player collision is something i already noticed in the cbt when my friends boxed me in, but imo its not that big a deal since you can always log out and log back in. ( i believe ubisoft has also clarified that you can simply keep moving towards the player for ~3s for the physics to kick in and go past the guy, i have yet to encounter any of these trolls yet so i can't be 100% sure) bullet sponge enemies, well i guess what did you expect from an rpg type game. you can't exactly have r6s 1 shot headshot model here. ( Yes it will undoubtedly turn some people off, so if you belong to this group, yeah it's probably better to stay away) is the tom clancy name justifiable? yeah well you could say they were tied down by their own name. it does limit what they can do. so yeah the genre is kinda iffy, but then again many are able to look past that, or at least once you sit down and play you get used to it. hackers in the cbt. i definitely noticed this, however i have yet to see this in the full release, the devs know about it during the beta so i'm assuming they have counter measures in place. i did notice graphical glitches a few times they are rare though and nothing major, however it might be due to my setup. after my win10 install, things haven't been all smooth so i'm more inclined to think its me. Did you fall for the hype train? well this has got to be the biggest factor, all hyped up and got disappointed with what you saw. Sorry if you fell for the hype train. Am i defending the devs/ marketing team for hyping the game up? no not really. However if you yourself keep hyping for a game that isn't out yet then i guess some of the fault lies with yourself. all in all, its no perfect 10/10 game. its alright for most, good for some. it does have it's cons still in the end. In the end, my point stands, if you don't find the game fun, or simply just can't see it, it's obviously not meant for you. don't like it, don't buy it, simple. Perfectly justifiable, vote with your wallet. I played the cbt + obt, liked it. Bought it before launch, will do it again. if you do know of certain things that make the game totally bad, do tell. sorry for the long post, nothing personal. i just don't want people to jump on the hate train just cause its ubisoft and its cool to hate on ubisoft.
  15. people are quick to judge the game from the beta, thinking they know the game in its entirety. fine by me. if they want to let bias get in their thinking so be it. they hear youtubers say its boring and they jump on the bandwagon and say its boring too. sure i don't disagree that its repetitive. its an age old mmorpg formula. So if you personally don't appreciate those grindy missions and what not. don't play it. say it's not to your tastes, don't say the game is shit cause it's not to your personal preference. it does have bullet spongey enemies, especially the elites and named enemies in the dz. however its not as bad as people would like you to believe. if it takes you 5 mags to drop a elite, you are either too under leveled, under geared, or you aren't aiming for the heads and or the gas tanks/grenade packs. it's an mmorpg so it should punish you accordingly if you are under geared. On top of that, mobs melt when you are in a group. in that sense i would say for the dz, they need to nerf group play. i played both the cbt and obt with over 50hours of gametime combined so yeah i've played a lot, i po it since i knew i would like it after the beta and i got it cheap (around 40usd) so to those who think the beta is a representation of the entire game: don't. to those who are still on the fence after playing the beta: if you aren't interested in the grindy aspect or didn't have fun playing, then i suggest holding off. sure it gives you the gist of the game and its mechanics but it sure as hell doesn't give you the entire content. heck the beta was like what 10% of the entire content? you barely had access to any skills and there was no variation in playstyle. but now that the full skill trees and talents and perks are unlocked you got more to choose from. the game sure does has its gripes and i'm not saying its perfect, but i'm pretty sure its not a shit game like people would suggest. tl;dr its a repetitive, mmorpg, loot-based, third person shooter. it's fun if you are playing with a group of friends and you can just mess around in the dz. it can be fun if you like playing solo which i do most of the time since its challenging and exciting. so if you can't have fun, don't buy it. i sure as hell enjoy it and other people not liking it sure isn't gonna make me stop playing. hell it just means less griefers and trolls
  16. my 4790k is sitting in my office pc
  17. you should try an intelburntest for your cpu on very high setting and let it run for 10-20 passes to check for errors. if i passes at stock and also on oc settings your gpu is most likely the fault here. either you bought a dud or something you did with the voltage did something to it, i'm not too sure on that side. i usually don't bother with the voltage; i up the power limit and raise the speeds as far as it can go without artifacting and that's about it. I all along thought that the hardware limit for nvidia cards was 1.212v and to go anything above that you need a bios mod for your card. edit: at this point you should keep in mind that you might very well need to rma the card. if you can even rma it since its 2nd hand
  18. also, how did you manage to up your card voltage to 1.225v i thought the hardware limit was 1.212v
  19. you might want to step back your oc. your gpu artifacting during stress tests is not a good sign. try resetting to stock and re run your game and see if it crashes again. your cpu is also overclocked? try doing everything at stock
  20. pretty sure he means that the card has no extension for the blower fan cause it would not work at all. hence, liquid cooled since the card will be a lot shorter
  21. Company A makes products X and Y Company B makes product X2 (direct competitor to X) Company C makes product Y2 (direct competitor to X) Y's performance is noticeably inferior compared to Y2 to the point where it impacts X company A uses Y2 product to showcase new generation of product X to maximize its potential as compared to using its own Y product and gimp product X. gets called out. logic.
  22. could you not mix up your own statistics. its more like 18.8% instead of 11.5%
  23. i'm currently running a pretty new sapphire nitro r9 380 4GB oced to 1050/1550. however in cinebench r15's open gl bench it seems to score pretty low at 80something fps. on top of that i notice my gpu load being very sporadic while the test is running.(spiking up and down) the gpu clock also seems to not hold steady as well, 700-900 range of fluctuation. Currently on the latest drivers. Is this normal for the open gl bench? i have not used cinebench before edit: i also notice my card is on open gl version 3.2.13417 in cinebench but crimson shows 6.14.10.13417
  24. some issues at launch where my character would refuse to load and what not. lots of disconnects due to server overloads right at the launch. however the character problems were resolved when i clear my division games folder where it stored my cbt character profile. so on day 2 etc there wasn't much problems. sometimes the server would experience delays probably due to load. there were some fps dips here and there however for some reason playing on ultra at 1080 compared to low at 1080 net me a better experience. 30-45fps on ultra compared to 120fps on low. i get fps drops to 40ish sometimes on low so the experience was really jarring. on ultra settings my 380 could maintain a more constant framerate with less fps drops. (i get the feeling my potato i7 965 is probably causing the fps drops. i get usage spikes up to 75-80% once in awhile while the game hovers at 50% usage) lots of eye candy on ultra settings. the game looks really good for what it is. its a beta, and before anyone says that just because its a beta they are allowed to get anyway with it. i personally did not notice much of game breaking bugs and what not. i did see a few graphical glitches like twice. most of the issues i encountered were probably server related-wise. optimisation wise idk, 40fps during the snowstorms on my 380 without proper drivers. so i think its pretty ok. now, gameplay wise. off the bat, if the concept of the game doesn't appeal to you, doesn't mean its shit. you can find quite a lot of things to dislike about it but it doesn't mean its shit. its just clearly not meant for you. Personally yes i find it repetitive too, but i keep in mind that there's a lot of the game yet to be made available to me. From what the game shows, its promising but we will have to wait till the full release to see if ubisoft decides to do some dick move. Its an mmorpg, it feels like a grindfest / constantly doing the same thing again and again. doesn't feel realistic if you have bullet sponge humans as enemies. etc etc Well as an mmo player, theres always a certain amount of grinding and depending on the type of game it can be a shit load or very little. (i'm personally someone who prefers the grind compared to being led around questing) you get bored of the beta so easily but the beta is probably only 10% of the game. they didn't even unlock the security wing, only 20% of the medical and tech wing is available. in your skill tree, talents and perks are still locked. equipment mods are not available as well (not weapon mods) crafting is also not available. bullet sponge human enemies admittedly don't do well for immersion but its fine by me, however its still an rpg system, if it takes you 2-3 magazines to down someone you are doing it wrong. (you can pretty much exclude bosses from this) they improved quite a bit from cbt to obt but i still see people ranting about the rogue system being broken, however i find it good. if you remove it no one will go into the dz for loot anymore. you will have people killing others everywhere. my only suggestion would be that your first shot that makes you rouge, the 20s timer before you killed someone. Make it so that the tick doesn't stop when others are shooting you (and you don't shoot back). IMO this will solve so many problems. you have a chance to run away if you accidentally shot someone, instead of pretty much ending up dead since once they hit you you timer doesn't tick. if you are not an mmo type of guy, this game will probably not interest you and that's ok. just my 2cents. from someone with 30 hours in cbt and 30+hours in obt. The game is pretty good, not perfect but I can definitely see how it will be easily repetitive, however we should all keep in mind that a majority of the content is locked so saying the game is shit because the beta is not showing more is quite frankly immature and biased. So, just wait till the game is out.
