What is this graphics card?
Curious Pineapple replied to Windows 11 For the Win's topic in Graphics Cards
It looks water damaged and fucked. -
What does copying games and trying to launch them have to do with being able to install and run an older application anyway? And which bad app stores? I have no issue with Epic or Steam, they don't drain any performance and I have an old machine. I have no issues installing and running Visual Studio 2003 by the way, works perfectly. You are the one that has turned it from installing older programs to trying to prove that copying an old application over without installing doesn't always work.

Not even worth the time to explain why it's a dead end. Coin mining in a desktop machine is long dead, especially for Bitcoin.

And your point is? You have shown a load of screenshots of Windows displaying errors in the GUI and 1 each for Linux and Mac in the command line. Trying to make Windows out to be worse? One isn't even a Windows error, it's from EA, and another could simply be trying to run a 64 bit program on a 32 bit OS. They are exactly the same thing. What happens when a manufacturer makes a product obsolete and pushes new drivers through Windows updates that brick it? No doubt you just go out like a good little consumer and buy a new one instead of being able to use an older unsigned driver that actually works. Yes it happened, and yes I have to reinstall the old driver if I ever remove the device. PL2032 USB to UART converter, should I really be forced into a new one just because ther manufacturer says so? Considering how often you defend such practices I don't need an answer, I already know it. I'll stick to actually being able to compile code on one machine then run it over the network on another, and use odd drivers for obscure hardware thanks. I don't need to be wrapped in bubble wrap and have every aspect of my machine controlled by the manufacturer. I can handle the mammoth task of inserting more RAM myself

If you simply plug in a drive that was previously in any Linux machine and try executing an application, the chances are very little of it would run due to missing libraries and dependencies. Works both ways too you know, that's why installers and package managers are a thing, to ensure that all requirements are there.

How the hell is it that low? I got horrendous latency when I was trying to game on 4G.

Unless you're buying 4000 at a time in bulk for a TV remote you're probably not going to be throwing any away due to exceeding ths shelf life -
ps3 running linux for gaming?
Curious Pineapple replied to Slad's topic in Linux, macOS and Everything Not-Windows
Problem is they're all built for x86 machines, not PowerPC. -

^^Less of that would be handy^^ -
Well as they recommended one and you are getting stupid speed drops with a different one, they probably made that suggestion based on actually being the ISP and knowing what will work best.

Recommend me a CPU!
Curious Pineapple replied to Curious Pineapple's topic in CPUs, Motherboards, and Memory
I have found a cheap HP Z400 which will take my existing RAM and one of my X5570's. Close enough that I can just swap the drives into it and nothing major will happen, practically the same machine just with one less CPU socket. -
Apple to start allowing SSD upgrades in the 2019 Mac Pro

I'v yet to encounter a (decent) prebuilt that doesn't have tool-less drive removal or at least very easy access to screws. -
I'm having some issues with my Z800 workstation now, power supply failed on me last night. Think it cooked itself as the machine kept powering off randomly and the PSU itself was too hot to touch. I'm looking for something new (but older and used) to replace it for gaming while I work on jamming it into a Power Mac G5 case with an ATX PSU. Ideally something with DDR3 ECC support as I have a lot of it, but I have non EEC memory too. Not too bothered about getting the best performing machine as it may get sold on again or just go in a box. If it matches an 11 year old Xeon than I'm happy. I have an FX machine but buying an 8350 for it is not going to happen, they cost way too much for what they are. What should I look out for to get a cheap setup going that won't be a pile of utter crap? Just going for a new Ryzen build isn't an option, and used isn't much better either.

Bluetooth audio stuttering with Wiimotes
Curious Pineapple replied to Curious Pineapple's topic in Troubleshooting
Whole different machine as my PSU failed last night. I'll possibly end up using the Toshiba and Windows BT stacks together with different dongles. -
Bluetooth audio stuttering with Wiimotes
Curious Pineapple replied to Curious Pineapple's topic in Troubleshooting
Already tried 3. -
I've thrown together a VR setup and I'm currently using Wiimotes as controllers. I have a Bluetooth headset however the audio keeps cutting in and out when the remotes are connected. If I use the hands free device on the headset then the quality is shite but works fine. Apart from installing a second BT dongle and using a different BT stack for it, is there any way to solve this rather annoying issue?

Yup, but the only AV output is has is HDMI, the other 2 ports are a USB-c charge and USB-c device as the budget for the machine only included one hole in the case and one port to fill it with. -
The ugly bin icon: are companies FORCED to do that?
Curious Pineapple replied to 7412's topic in Off Topic
Who really cares? It's not laser engraved into the front glass, most phones are in cases anyway. If you buy a phone for how the R-send of it looks then I'd assume you plan on dropping it on the floor face first a lot. -

You mean that £75 adaptor with a HDMI port in the middle of it? I'd say that is a HDMI adaptor, mainly as it adapts, to HDMI. -

Maybe that was it, you know too much and lack the ability to lie right in a customers face about how repairable the device actually is.
