  1. could you link me to some of these laptops that get better battery life. I'm looking to get a new laptop and none of the windows laptops seem to have the battery life of an Air. Rumor has it that the Pros are supposed to have a radical design change announced at the upcoming WWDC 2016. If they can make it thinner while maintaining the ports, I wouldn't mind if they get rid of the Air line.
  2. Seems as though they're keeping the 1-USB port philosophy, shame. I'm not too bummed about it though IF they update the Air line with a Retina display and Skylake processors. It would actually make a nice line-up of laptops. MacBook -> MacBook Air -> MacBook Pro. Content consumption, light work -> medium level work, greater connectivity and battery life -> serious work, connectivity warriors. BUT, if if they get rid of the MacBook Air line entirely, I will be very sad.

  4. I don't agree with this move. The best part about consoles is that you don't need to look up some guide if something is compatible or not. It only makes things worse that Sony is releasing PSVR which, I'm predicting if this rumor is true, will only increase further compatibility issues.
  5. Looking forward to a lot of things: Apple just announced WWDC 2016 and I'm crossing my fingers for a Retina MBA with Skylake CPUs. My current laptop has over 1000+ charge cycles and the battery no longer holds a charge. Definitely need a new laptop. Wanting to save up and purchase a new car. Debating if I want a 2005 M3 or a 330ci ZHP. Also plan on moving down to Arizona. The only problem I have with it is that it's deathly hot in the summer time. Friends have told me that I'd get used to it though.
  6. That's assuming there would be a price bump of $100 if they updated the MBA with a Retina screen. Apple is known to add features to products while at the same time dropping its price. Circa 2013 I think they added faster PCIe storage while making 128gb the standard.
  7. Prefer the old design. Then again, I prefer engines that go boom
  8. If you're slowing down footage than I suggest using 60fps, preferably 120 or 240fps. In terms of general video, 4K 30fps will be far better than 1080p 60fps.
  9. Probably my MacBook Air. The only flaw I have with it is that it's not a retina screen but hopefully that changes soon.
  10. Are you implying that this thread is under the context of liberal media? Or are you showing your inherent biases already? I would say you should think too but I think you have but just can't.
  11. Indeed. However, more reasonable than the "omg Trump is Hitler!!!!!!~~~" idiotic comments liberal media loves to spew out.
  12. His socialistic approach to economics would send the USA into a deep depression (just look at several European countries as examples and South American as well) and with the US going down would send the entire world into an economic frenzy. Also, I don't actually like to make these comparisons but I thought it was funny when someone pointed out a particular German who blamed all the nation's problems on the 1%. Who also wanted to expand the governments powers.
  13. I'd support this move even if it wasn't intentional. I've always said Oh-Ess-Ex, when its just Oh-Ess-Ten. Would be a good way to streamline their OS's and fix my mispronunciation.
  14. Good to see a "pro device" paired with a screen with good color accuracy.
  15. Again HTC flatters us with a good looking phone and a list of specs but let's see if it'll be an actual good smartphone.
  16. 4790k or skylake equivalent. If you can, a 5820k will help a bunch. If you have software that utilizes CUDA such as Adobe CC then get a low to mid range Nvidia card. If you want to game and edit then of course, get a stronger GPU but really its the CPU that NLEs rely on. Also you could go for an AMD card if you program uses OpenCL. I believe that Sony Vegas supports both CUDA and OpenCL but OpenCL actually performs better for it. While Adobe CC prefers CUDA.
  17. Does he do any creative work? I own a 4790k with a 960. The only game I really play is CSGO which isn't demanding so I wanted a powerful processor and a cheap CUDA card for video work.
  18. Products are only worth what the consumer is willing to pay for. Outside of inelastic products, product prices are determined by the market. Long answer: It's a common myth that Apple overcharges for products. However, I think we can agree that consumer electronic devices such as the devices that Apple sells are elastic. Apple (and for that matter any business) hires economists and statisticians to analyze the market to determine pricing for their products. They learn that if they price a product at X price then they will sell Y units. Apple (and again any other company) wants to maximize this relationship in order to achieve peak revenue. This all revolves around how many units consumers are willing to buy at said price. Short answer: Customers determine the price. If Intel believes people will buy a $1500 CPU, they will sell a $1500 CPU.
  19. I've read that even though skylake is built on a smaller node, it was even thirstier than haswell/broadwell. Is this misinformation or does that sound about right?
  20. No crystal balls yet the next "big thing" is Zen.
  21. I don't think the MacBooks have been updated to Skylake yet. That is besides the point, I'm asking for efficiency gains not if its already been released or not.
  22. I'm looking to buy a new laptop and I was wondering if I should save some money and buy a used one or wait till Skylake drops. The reason I'm asking this I is because the transition between ivy bridge to haswell brought huge gains in integrated gpu performance and even bigger gains in battery life. Now I haven't been paying much attention to the mobile CPU space but could anyone tell me if any such gains were made again from haswell to broadwell or broadwell to skylake? Reading the Tech News sub-forum, it seems like Intel is still making gains in iGPUs but have they made similar gains in battery life like they did from ivy bridge to haswell?
