Dear Linus and the Linus Media Group team,
 
I don't know if you'll ever read this but I just wanted to take the time to thank you for what you do. You might be thinking, "well I only make Tech videos, I'm not curing cancer." but It doesn't take a big act to change someones life, or to pick someone up from having a bad day. It's people like you guys that can let someone forget about all their problems and whatever is going on in their life. And for those 10 or 15 mins your on screen they can forget about all that and just have a minute to live in the moment. To enjoy and learn about what they love, Tech. I'm going through a very tough time right now and I'm not going to go into detail because that's not what this letter is about. This is to thank you guys, I don't know how many, 'Thanks' you get in a day but you don't get enough. You might not believe in God but I really feel like God has people like you on earth to help people in times like these. I know its only quick tech and that stuff is second nature to you guys but besides all the hard work and moderating the forum and research and long nights editing, I just want to thank you for just DOING what you do, its the little things that keep us going so I want to thank you for what you've done and what you do for people. I also want to thank Linus' wife for keeping such a good man happy and loving him and allowing him and trusting him to work off YouTube. Your everyday wife wouldn't trust their husband to take such a big leap of faith, so thanks. I dream of the day when I can help people and make peoples day better like you guys do for thousands each day. I don't know how long you guys will be on YouTube, but I ask you guys to enjoy it and understand what a great opportunity you guys wake up to each and everyday. You should read your own post, nowhere did it say you factored in BF4 just that it costs "$748 plus tax or whatever".

The R-290X should be priced at $600

Uh, you do know their is assembly costs to build it for you, as well as testing and other things. They also do markups because they aren't going to sell you a $200 SSD for $200, they're going to sell it to you for $250 or so.

Also the "$730" price tag that is being thrown around also includes BF4 and Premium, so factor in about $100 or so for the game(because it isn't free, it's a bundle).

That's a pretty cool Sidepanel. I think they ruined it with all of the branding on the bottom tho.

I live in Utah and here they encourage you to pay sales tax on what you buy online. But Rhode Island has a law called the Amazon Law that makes it very hard for out-of-state retailers to avoid charging sales tax. It's still possible but large retailers like Amazon and Overstock do charge sales tax there. I know a lot of other states have considered writing laws similar to it but don't know if any made it through the proper channels to become law.

I don't know about your current state, but I live in California and from what I've experienced, I have to pay sales tax if the company I'm buying the product from has a store/warehouse/business location within my state. For example, if I buy from NCIX I pay sales tax because they have a warehouse in California, but if I buy some headphones from a company in New Jersey and that only has a store in New Jersey, then I am not forced to pay sales tax.
 
Just because I'm curious, could you list or PM those 1-2 states for me? I haven't heard of such a thing before where you'd be mandated to pay sales tax.

And here, If you buy online you don't have to pay tax. There are only 1 or 2 states that do. Some states kind of ask you to pay tax on it but they don't do anything if you don't.

The "findings" aren't the problem, it's the attitude in which he defends his findings as fact, and lashes out at anyone who says otherwise.

Stop bashing the Thread maker seriously, it's good that he does share his "Findings" with us but it isn't official. But it's still not a reason to bash him

Only about half of the States in the USA have sales tax, and they have varying amounts.
