BlueBeam - A Cad Focused PDF Editor - Ends Perpetual Licences.
goodtofufriday replied to goodtofufriday's topic in Tech News
For these guys you have to pay for their highest teir subscription model in order to have the same feature set as before. -
Summary BlueBeam is a industry focused PDF viewer that many who deal with cad or archictectual design utilize as it allows for a lot of work to be done with existing PDF drawings. Previosuly BlueBeam had a perpetual license once purchased. Yet they were not as forver as implied. These were set to expire 9/29/2023. Those who used to only pay a Maintence Fee (Active support) are now finding that they are being forced to upgrade to the latest version of bluebeam, which is now an annual subscription, in order to continue recieving support. The Current update is that as of now you can no longer be activate existing licenses on new machines, even if your old machine died. Quotes Before Now My thoughts This affects my company directly. At this point only two of the services we utilize as business critical do not have a subscription model, and only one of those two would be unable to remove that ability from us, though they could deny us future updates. The world is continuously getting greedier, and thus more expensive. Sources Me: business email from bluebeam concerning required renewal. https://support.bluebeam.com/articles/revu-20-below-licensing-faq/

Samsung Unpacked 2024 - Galaxy S24 Announcement
goodtofufriday replied to LAwLz's topic in Tech News
Sadly they are just too large for me. Ive got a rule that if I can't use the whole screen one handed, top to bottom, side to side, then I don't want it. -
Samsung Unpacked 2024 - Galaxy S24 Announcement

Any image that needs any zoom looks bad, and not great to terrible in low light situations. That's been true for my s10e, s21, and s22. My old Sony Xperia x compact looked better. The supposed bump in processing never made it look much better between all these phones. The pixel 8's telephoto lens was great for zooming in close on things. -
Samsung Unpacked 2024 - Galaxy S24 Announcement

After getting so disappointed buy the pixel 8 that I returned it, I was hoping to upgrade to the s24. But it literally is the same phone as my s22, just a little faster. My only gripe with this phone is the cameras. But the s24 has the same ones. Not interested in using AI features. Shame. If the pixel 8 had even half the software QoL of Samsung then I have kept it for the camera. But there was just way too much functionality missing. -

I just dont want 100 accounts doing similar things on 100 different apps. for this instance google messages does literally everything i need. If someone needs a larger file then i email them. -

I with all honesty don't understand why it's not? I don't have to download any additional apps. Tho I'll be honest I didn't realize imessage and RCS didn't talk to each other even with text only messages. -

Google messages with RCS turned on gives me all those additional things though. Also at no additional cost. And uses data instead of text cost. So i still don't see why you'd need to download something like whatsapp. -
