  1. I built my first PC yesterday. It was my friends build and he asked me to help him build it as I have more experience with this type of thing. Took a couple hours as we were being cautious and generally taking out time. 1. Get a modular power supply. It was a pain in the ass trying to screw around with a huge bundle of cable that wouldn't bend in the way we wanted them to. It also looked like shit after building with a big clump of cables sitting in the HDD cages. 2. Get a case with cable grommets. It looked nasty seeing these cut outs when we were finished especially when combined with the non modular PSU. 3. Download windows ASAP. We ended up waiting 30 minutes waiting for windows to download. Mind you this was on a slow connection. 4. Don't buy your components from lots of different stores. Make sure you only go to one or two stores so that you will get everything at once rather than getting bits and pieces over a couple of weeks. 5. Read the manuals. Especially if you are a first time builder. And take your time with the CPU cooler. Took us a while to figure it out. 6. Don't spend too much money. Make sure you know what you are aiming for before you start planning and always overestimate the end cost. 7. Save some money for games. You build your pc and you have no decent games to play around with making it not worth building in the first place. (Please don't resort to G2A though. Try the Humble Bundle instead). 8. Take your time. The last thing you want is to put you cpu cooler on wrong and realize you have to rebuild, or worse, you kill a component. If you have had any other experiences I am more than happy to hear about them as I'm still learning. If you have any questions, I'm also happy to answer them as best I can.
  2. Awesome projector, could imagine some epic movies and games to be had with friends almost anywhere as it looks like a very versatile device.
  3. Not a review but more builds would be nice...
  4. Sorry to necopost but it seems that this could be because of Amazon terminating the agreement with Linus. He has done a couple of tweets about it in the last 12 hours
  5. Before you even look at it, I don't like AMD and I also don't know much about their cpus. You can change the 750 ti for another AMD card (there probably is one which is better AMD card than the 750 ti). http://pcpartpicker.com/list/gqJhPs You should probably change the mobo tho, I don't know much about low end motherboards. Also for an OS, if you are okay with what Kinguin do then you can pick up windows for like $20. You can pirate it (please don't) or you could just spend the extra $100 and get a proper license.
  6. Total biscuit has spoken a huge amount about this topic. He thinks that it is extremely colourful and might be too confusing for viewers. He then mentions the same thing about League of Legends but there is a huge following for that game. I think that there will certainly be an audience but I believe that it won't be as popular as CS:GO. I think that there is plenty of gameplay that won't run out. The meta will change (like every game) and from what I have seen you can play all classes very simply or very skillfully.
  7. Yeah, but does it matter across other components? Isn't that the idea. Driver versions do make a difference but most people have it labelled with what driver version they were running.
  8. Can't delete
  9. Yeah, basically what thekeemo said, but they are extremely rough. I wanted to know the same thing, like why can't I just look at the specs and know exactly how they perform. The best thing to look at is benchmarks; universal comparisons.
  10. I can't help with the processor because I don't know much about AMD's lineup. and if you're not fussed about not playing on the best graphics at high settings then the 950 should be good enough. And you don't need the disk drive, you can now install them on usbs. If you still need to save money and you are okay with the way these people sell their keys you can get a cheap windows license from Kinguin but it is OEM (basically the same as normal windows but the licence is attached to the motherboard.
  11. Blue if you would like to save some money and black if you don't mind and want faster read/write speeds. WD drives seem more popular among builders and it really comes down to what you want to do. I may be biased but IDK. In saying that, I have heard about more dead seagate drives than WD but just do some research into what other people from other forums say.
  12. Spend the couple extra bucks and go for wd. They seem a little more reliable than seagate.
  13. Get p2, platinum just for the lols if you can afford it.
