Simple, because your desktop has a dedicated graphics card.

As basic as a HD 7350 is, it'll still outpreform the integrated graphics on your newer laptop.

Also, someone stole 4GB of ram from your laptop, Inspiron 15 3501 comes with 8GB on all models iirc, you should seriously consider upgrading to 8GB.

Tbh, look into GeforceNow. Try out the free tier for 1hr at a time to see how it performs on your internet.

It's cloud gamestreaming, imagine live sports and Netflix had an esports baby lol. It hosts the game in the cloud and streams it to your PC. I only have 8-12ms of lag, which is more than the frametimes+stutter you'd be dealing with on low-spec systems like those.

I'd much rather deal with a bit of added latency than min-settings <30fps lol

This could just be due to the asian region.
I too bought this exact laptop just a week ago from the dell store. (I am from southeast asia) hahaha.

but it had the i3-1135g7, 512gb nvme ssd. upgrades, however it still was 4gb ram. this cost around $500 US. They probably really cheaped out on that part of the specs.  I have already upgraded the ram to 16gb tho. so it's all good now :3

to the op. yes this laptop is terrible for gaming. but esports games work well on it, so there's that at least. Probably upgrading the ram may stop more intensive games from crashing.

  2. I suppose it's to keep the environment fair. especially in online games such as fortnite. A player using kb+m will have a significant advantage over the controller.

If you want to use kb+m then stick to your PC. since soncsoles were designed for controllers in the first place. this just feels like you're just looking for a reason to complain about something on consoles

Also. I tried connecting my kb+m to my ps4 to play ac valhalla. and it feels terrible. I guess 30fps doesn't translate well to kb+m since the framerate isn't good enough for the responsiveness of a mouse.

  3. That long black slot is where the videocard will fit.

And since you said that this pc is BTX. I can assume that you can fit a dual slot videocard (it will cover the white slot) but it may be a tight fit. depending on the thickness of the cards cooler

  4. At this point, the Xbox One X is a bad choice, unless you get an excellent deal on it

Getting a 2nd hand xbox one S is a good option too. since the previous gen xbox are still going to get games for the next 2-3 years.

also, xbox one games are getting really cheap, so it's handy to have a disc drive.

  5. My previous keyboard was an Ornata v1, used it for 2 years. it was a great keyboard 😄

still felt very tactile, although bottoming out was still a bit mushy, as expected. however, the initial click still felt very satisfying.

But sometimes  the metal clip, or whatever was doing that tactility would wear out, so i'd have to open it, and rebend the clip outwards abit just to get the tactility back to 100%

there should also be other brands that are full mechanical keyboards at the same price point, such as the logitech g512 carbon, or redragon keyboards

Sorry about that. Totally glanced over the part where your battery had 86% capacity, which is really impressive for a 10 year old laptop.

Also, 1440p60 doesn't seem too bad as a compromise. I could probably use that to hold me over until I need a new laptop. Just want to make sure, how is viewing 1440p on 4K? Is it comparable to 720p on 1080p?

I cant comment on that, since i dont have a 4k tv. hahaha, but so far. on a pc monitor, 1440p looks excellent.

and yeapp. even i am surprised by how long the battery is lasting. hopefully, your battery gets just as great luck if not better. 😄

I'm just wondering if I could still have the same kind of decrease in battery capacity if I were to keep it plugged in longer compared to if I used it 'normally' (discharge until 5%-10%, then charge). Also, with current advances in emulation, it's possible to upscale them to higher resolutions. The laptop has also has a discrete GPU (940MX) which could upscale some of those games to 4K, and could also output Moonlight to 4K (if it were possible, of course).

Most likely. you should be fine, as I said, I used my laptop plugged in 95% of the time. and I don't remember the last time I ever let it drain to a low percentage. usually batt stays in 90-100% charge.

As for the resolution, since 4k 60hz cant be done on the laptop. maybe you can go for 1440p at 60hz? it is a downgrade from 4k, but at least it is higher than 1080p

  8. idk about Lenovo batteries, but my 2011 MacBook pro 15" still has its original battery from 2011. and I use that laptop plugged in like 95% of the time, even stays plugged in when I'm not using it.

I just unplug it whenever I don't plan on using it for awhile. So far it has 76 cycles, and 86% battery health. which is huuge, considering that this is a 10 year old battery at this point.

My guess is that your laptop battery should be fine plugged in all the time, so long as it doesn't get hot. batteries hate high temps.

I'm not really familiar with the video port outputs. but for me, 1080p is still perfectly usable. Also, since you will be using it to emulate games, I am assuming that it will be ps2 era games and older. anything above 1080p wouldn't seem worth it, since the games were designed to run at lower resolutions.

did you set it to run at faster speeds, its mostly for gaining more FPS or be a little faster with load. Unless limited by other things in your system.

i got some tridentz, and yes it is running at xmp 3600.

I suppose if i were to pay attention to fps i could notice the increase, however i mostly play easy to run games, such as valorant, sea of thieves, sims. so i guess that's why i never really felt a huge gain in fps, since it was already in the 100+fps to begin with

Well this morning, I was trying to enjoy breakfast and my 24 oz mug of coffee slipped in my hand and the majority of the coffee went into my G513 Carbon Clicky keyboard. Had to quickly run and grab paper towels/hand towels to absorb the coffee as it went all over my desk. As soon as I got back, I heard the USB disconnect sound and the keyboard shut off. Had to clean up the mess and disassembled the keyboard and it was soaked with coffee. Rinsed it off and shook it to remove any excess water and will leave it out to dry and see if it comes back to life.

Anyway, I purchased this last month but didn't post it as I didn't start using it yet and felt more "right" posting it now since I am going to be using the keyboard now. Its just an identical keyboard.

I have the same keyboard. but the G512 version.  also blue switches. hahaha 😄. great keyboard

I don't think I need that software because Crucial have their own software for it :)
My question is also if the lights on the RAM are controlled via software or if I have to plug it into an additional port for the lights to be controllable.

fair enough, but in the future if ever you have a motherboard with rgb headers. its just nicer to control everything in one single software. rather than having spearate software for your rgb headers,, ram , and graphics card.

also, no. the rams dont need to be connected to anything. the leds are powered and controlled directly from the dimm slot

  12. that depends on the controller.

is it the original xbox one controller? or the slim one?  i call them the v1,v1.1, and v2 controllers
v1 - original xbox one controller without the 3.5mm jack
v1.1 - original xbox one controller with the 3.5mm jack
v2 - the new xbox one controller that shipped with the xbox one slim and onwards

only the v2 controllers can connect directly to bluetooth, while the v1 and v1.1 controllers only work WIRED or with the special dongle for it.

Easy way to tell if a controller supports Bluetooth (For PC and mobile use) : xboxone

i found this picture online, and i think this can be a helpful guide for you
