quick question I'm aware megapixels isn't everything but why is my 5 year old s21 ultra 108mp and a new camera 20mp, shouldn't these cameras be pushing 1000mp with gigantic sensors. is it a negative having more megapixels?

cameras are trying to get a good image by having a good sensor, phones now do a bunch of combining and software tricks to make a okay sensor look better. Most phones will take that 100mp sensor and downscale it to 25mph to help out their low light and noise performance meanwhile on a camera you can just have a big enough sensor to get good low light and noise performance.

    Is this good then?

    Canon rebel t5-exellent condition-$87

    Canon EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS - well used - $94

Uni sd card reader $15 new

    Wasabi power 2 battery’s lpe10 - $18 new

I'd pay the extra 20$ for a good vs well used lens

I like Sabrents mini USB reader its like 8$ but you need to plug it right into a USB port. the reader you grabbed looks fine

Just as an update, I was looking at 1. Camera (first image), 2. Battery (https://amzn.to/3q9jp7G), and 3. SD card (https://amzn.to/3QewCH4). However, I still need a lens. My only want for the lens is good zoom and good quality imagery with max zoom.

Drop down to a T6 to save money for a better lens. The 18vs 24mp is not a big deal unless you plan some crazy crops. The batteries and SD card are fine, don't forget a card reader if you need one

I've posted lots in this thread using a T5 and 60D along with my newer Fuji X-S10. The image quality out of a T5 or T6 won't be massively improved by the 24mp sensor on a T7

the jack of all master of none on EF-S is a 18-135, I wouldn't go for the 28-300 or 18-270 as they compromise far too much on image quality.

  4. I've got a few random cards like 2 Gskill 64gb but my bread and butter is like 20 Sandisk extreme 128gb with a few 64 and 256gb. So far I've not had a single card fail in my 15 years of using SD cards.
I've been meaning to pickup and try some Samsung SD cards given a number work quite well in abusive situations like dash cams. Their 256gb cards are also like 20$ right now on B&H.

  5. The cannon T5 and T6 are good options but not at all setup for video, they lack microphone in ports and so any better audio would need to be done external.
I've used https://www.mpb.com to both sell and buy gear before. I like the fact someone has checked over gear and says exactly whats in the box along with photos of the items.
I'd pair that with 2-4 lenses. Typically a 18-55 and 75-300 or 55-250 are my recommendation but you could also grab 1-2 primes like a 50, 40 or 24

I really like the mood in the picture, as the sunset floods the whole image in beautiful warm colors. The foreground with the rails between the plants and the background with the sea and clouds are truly idyllic.

Thanks, I really wanted a train in that sunset but it was super delayed.

The only minor points of criticism would be to make a slight crop to remove the car and the post. And (I'm sure you already know this) to increase the exposure time so you can lower the ISO, making the picture clearer and fully utilizing the camera's dynamic range.

I don't crop my photos till I pick what platform they are going on so most of the ones I share here are just the full shot.
I tend to embrace some noise in my photos, Fuji color science and filter pattern makes it look a lot more like film grain. I also need to be at ISO800 and above to get the most DR.

Some small white flowers in our garden at high resulution. (I later noticed there was dust on the lens so there are some visible spots)

Feels very sterile, I almost want a funky lens or filter to make it seem less perfect

I'm going to do 3 edits of the same image. Again I really embraced the grain here

Crop of 108MP mobile photo. Edit in snapseed.

While the colors look nice everything is quite soft and has quite a bit of noise. The small sensor with high MP count isn't doing so well.
