Sorry, missed a \ there. It's running Hyper-V Core, the free version of windows server with ONLY the Hyper-V role in it. So it's a Dos/MS based environment.

The cards are both N320E's from Chelsio. Got the one running on the backup isilon node, now just have to get the one running in the Dell Hypervisor. No, I installed it through a regular old boot process. The card was never in the machine. I swapped everything over from the QNAP NAS boxes to the dell R710 through my own process and got it all setup, THEN decided I needed a backup server (too much data to lose and continually adding) and when I got the Isilon node it came with two 10gb cards as that was my plan, take one out, put it in the Dell and work it out from there.

So I recently started switching everything out of my old Qnap Ts-231 and Ts-431's for Dell R710, R310 and a emc isilon node. When I picked up the Isilon node I was given a spare 10gb card in hopes I would be able to backup the R710's hard drives directly to it via that to keep things fast and off network. Issue is the Hyper-v host doesn't seem to recognize the 10gb card now that it's installed. Is there a option to install drivers right from a download source or will I have to find them manually and install that way?

No budget doesn't mean be an idiot with parts pricing, that motherboard won't have any kind of other features that one under $250 wouldn't. If you're ordering online as most do these days location is really pretty irrelevant.

No real budget, no point in having budgets, just end up disappointed when you blow it I'm in Red Deer, AB (not sure why it matters) Gaming, rendering some videos, transcoding some downloaded media.

There's entire systems locally to me for like $800 bucks, which is a pretty decent deal. Also don't like AMD, never have. Better performance gaming and some rendering. As far as I see it, unless I am going to an 8 core, 16 thread CPU or a massive bump in sheer clock speed, it's pretty pointless to bothedr looking to upgrade. So basically a 9900K

So I'm looking to do an upgrade. My system was built about 4 years ago or so give or take, and I am looking for a bit more. Current System: 4790K Stock Speeds Evo 212 Cooler 4x 4GB Ripjaws DDR3 2x samsung SSD's in RAID 0 1080 FTW Edition There's plenty of 6th gen and 7th gen intel systems local to me but I have a feeling that the only thing that is going to be a beneficial upgrade for me at this point is going to be a 9900K at least. What are your guys' thoughts? What should I be looking for?

Just replace it, fans are cheap.

I recently shipped a AMD cpu and all I did was take some cardboard, fold it in 3, trace out the CPU on the center, cut it out with an x-acto knife, fold one end under, tape or glue in place, drop in the cpu close up and call it a day. Alternatively you can add some hard plastic to the cut out to ensure pins don't get bent but for storage as long as you aren't moving it around a bunch you shouldn't need to.

I haven't ran any kind of irreplaceable data on my boot drive in like 5 years, people still do that?
