  1. Would it be better if I return it and get the RM850x instead? I'm in a position where I can only return sealed boxed items (I'm not in the US). Warranty will be a bit more complicated.
  2. So yesterday I bought a Strix 850G White Edition so I can use my existing TX-M 750W in another build without buying a cheap PSU. The intention was to get a RM850x 2018-2021 model but somehow I came home with a ROG Strix 850G since I saw that it's a Tier A PSU. From my understanding, it's a rebranded Seasonic Focus PSU which is good but it also has problems with the 30-series cards. I've also scouted Reddit for info and saw someone mentioning that certain ROG Strix units were based on the older problematic Seasonics. Is there a way to know if my unit is affected? I'm starting to regret my choice and I'm wondering if I should return it for the white RM850x which is $15 cheaper than the Strix 850G White where I live. I still haven't unboxed the ROG Strix. Here's what the PSU is supposed to power: AMD Ryzen 5900X Crosshair VI Hero EVGA 3080 Ti FTW3 2 TB WD Black SN850 Nvme ROG Strix Helios
  3. Hi. So my Zotac 2080 Amp Edition fans started making this buzzing sound and give out this weird smell that goes away (both sound and smell) after a couple of minutes or if I go on MSI Afterburner and momentarily increase fan speed to 100% and change it back to auto, it goes away that way too. It only happens when I start or restart my PC. I can leave it on for days and the fans wont make any sound and behave normally. I've noticed that only the middle fan does this and I'm not sure if it's the fan or something else going on in the GPU given the smell that accompanies the buzzing sound. It smells like medicine or something akin to that, it's kind of hard to describe to be honest. Does anyone what causes this? Especially the weird smell. Thank you.
  4. Dude, just use eBay... I bought mine from there.
  5. This happened to me twice this month. The orders were delayed and exceeded their estimated delivery date. Chat support explicitly said "keep the items" as a compensation for the waiting time. I didn't even ask for it, just caught me by surprise. You might get the same treatment if your order was late.
  6. I believe the components used in Alienware desktops are proprietary. I've dealt with them before and they tend to use the cheapest and most basic components, but they work. GPU is most likely a blower-style but it should be enough for the 2070S. Upgradability is a hit or miss, really. You should be able to fit in a graphics card as long as you keep the size of the unit itself is mind, as it may or may not fit inside the case.
  7. Looks like a faulty monitor. Return it.
  8. OT but, can I buy it?
  9. Are you okay? That sounds very immature. Just report him and be on your way, having 7 dislikes is nothing.
  10. To all the "get a job" posts, I'd like to say that it's really not that easy for someone his age to get a job in Kuwait. Actually it's close to impossible, unless you sell sunflower seeds on the streets in hot temperatures (30-40 degrees) but even then it'd take years before he'd be able to make that much. Also, expats barely make any money (significant amount I mean) and sometimes live paycheck to paycheck to pay for rent (which is expensive as fuck by the way), bills and sending money to their families back home. OP, I suggest waiting it out. I'm sure your parents aren't just sitting on money and not buying you anything. It's just circumstances.
  11. Probably my CPU, but at the moment I find it hard justifying 1700X > 3700X/3800X. Also thinking of getting a 32" 4K monitor.
  12. I'm so glad I'm not the only one with the exact same opinion regarding the hygiene. I had to wait in queues for 3-4 hours each and the smell was so horrible. Thursday wasn't so bad as I went in as soon as it opened and didn't wait for long. I mainly went for Hall 9 (Square Enix) to play the FF VII Remake and get the shirts from the FFXIV battle challenges (which was awesome btw). Otherwise, the rest are boring. You wait in a 5h+ queue at the Cyberpunk booth to watch a demo that you can't even play.
  13. It's exactly double the price of the 560. I really don't care about the performance I just need something to run games at respectable framerates and temperatures while I'm away from my main PC. Portability is also a factor.
  14. Hello. So I've a Macbook Pro 2016 nTB with an i5 processor and an iGPU (Iris 540). I mainly use it for university stuff on the go and FFXIV for raiding when I'm travelling/outdoors/at a friend's house which I often do alot, and I'll be travelling the day the next raid (savage tier) comes out. The iGPU does everything fine, with the exception of FFXIV where it basically runs really loud and the framrates are 17-23ish during gameplay. Ofcourse, the graphics settings are at their absolute lowest so there's that too. Normally, I wouldn't mind playing like this for a while but I've found someone selling a "barely used" Sonnet Breakaway Puck RX560 GPU for $150 (retails for $400). The eGPU itself is pretty small, making it perfect for travelling. It also uses an MXM version of the AMD RX560 and the benchmarks aren't bad overall. FFXIV isn't really a demanding game and my laptop can run it, kinda. Would it be worth it to buy the eGPU? Is the RX560 a good card even? He's also selling a larger one enclosure with an RX580 but, I feel like it'd be a useless purchase given my usage. Thank you.
  15. Thank goodness... I was getting sick of using iTunes (Apple Music).
  16. I've had my MBP13 2016 for a good 3 years and haven't really encountered any of these issues... Sucks to know that they're susceptible to many design flaws as one of the reasons why I bought it was because I had a "Apple good. Apple no mistake" mindset since the 2015 models were pretty good.

    Why would...what?...what?
  18. The game is currently on a Humble Bundle deal. You could get it (+some other games) for $15. Also, I wouldn't trust G2A and would never buy from them again. I learned through the hard way that the keys obtained from G2A could be bought using stolen credit cards.
  19. Atm my only goal for 2019 is getting my body in shape. I weigh around 50-ishkg and when I look at my body in the mirror I be like "ew. too scrawny". But then again... I lack the motivation to do so and the fact that I'm working hard to maintain my high grades doesn't help either. I also have this "I'm scared people will laugh at me at the gym" kinda mentality. One of my friends tried to push me into it but my stubbornness got in the way.
  20. Been having that issue ever since I switched to Ryzen. Don't worry tho, just use another app like HWiNFO64 or Ryzen Master.
  21. What resolution? You might want to look for benchmarks that are related to your specific use case.
  22. 25% to 30%ish from what I've seen on YouTube and several other benchmarks. I was actually in the same boat around two days ago and was about to buy the 2080 Ti, and got the 1080 Ti instead due to the ratio between price and performance. But to answer your main question, I'd say your card is worth $550-600.
  23. If you can afford it, go with the TX-M unit. It's a better unit overall.
  24. Upgrade from a 1070 to 1080 Ti for $150, worth it?

for 150$, yes easily worth it as long as the person you're buying from is reputable.
