If possible id suggest a clean install of Windows 64-bit (usually fixes that issue the quickest).

Real dick move comcast.

I would try a reinstall or clean install of an older driver (deleting the temp files etc there are plenty of guides for how to do that).
I have a similar issue but instead of loading screen the first play through its middle of playing, after a re-launch it works fine.
 
I am switching out my gpu today so unfortunately I won't be troubleshooting much but i'll help if I can.

3dFX Voodoo 2 paired with an old Matrox 2d card. Then a 16Mb Voodoo 3 2000 because SLI was balls in anything but Glide games.
32mb Diamond Stealth 3 after that because 32 BIT OH THE COLOURS!

HIS 7950 from craigslist. $95. Still haven't got to use it though due to the fact I'm still getting parts for first computer.

I've had the same experience with my old gtx 760. I tried to update the drivers multiple times and it never worked so I had the base driver for it's life

same as @Whorax, in 7 years never updated the drivers and worked great

Not true, I have one and have no issues with airflow or high system temps.

The closest Fry's is like 3920 miles to the left.

I'm here with you OP who cares about achieving the top level its school. it teaches you how to take standardized tests. I haven't actually learned anything since freshman year. that's why I went ahead and graduated early. but my school forgot about https:// which was hilarious.

I'll probably get hate for these but a Razer blackwidow Chroma and a Razer Ouroboros. (to be fair I tried out multiple keyboards and the razer one had the nicest feel. and the mouse is very comfy and customizable) they both were looking at me i swear.
