ram problem

Go to solution Solved by Altecice,

Download freeram.com probably your best bet

...  -_-

If possible id suggest a clean install of Windows 64-bit (usually fixes that issue the quickest).

hi!!! my pc has 4 GB of ram. it detects them but since i have done a fresh install of windows it says i can only use 2.4GB of them.

i have ubuntu installed in a separated partition and he detects and uses 3.6GB which seems fair.

what should i do ?

(i have used before software like ramdisk but it is disabled now and even after a complete new install i don't belive it would be a problem.)

That probably means that windows has reserved the rest

any link where i can download a legit copy of win 7 64 bit ?

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows7

did not solve anything, it even says that the ram detected is only 2048 MB

Yah you can't actually download ram

Windows requires a small amount to run itself.

My computer uses less than 1 GB, but I'm on Windows 8.1, perhaps the 64 bit version of windows 7 will help

In the future, I'd recommend installing at least 8 GB

Hm a little hard to believe, could you post a screenshot of the 'Memory' tab in the 'Performance' tab in Task Manager?

You can use http://imgur.com/ for images

The second link says I don't have permissions to view, but the first one does indicate that you only have 2 GB of ram total

Can you go into your computer case and physically look at the RAM dims to make sure they add up to 4 GB?

is it possible that the system is reserving 1 GB for the video, and since you are using a 32 bit windows all that is left is 2.5 GB from the 4 GB you have installed?

i don't know really, i have installed and played around with os in this pc and this is the first time reallly that it has shown me this issue :/
