Ok great, thank you. I was just worries that having it boot using legacy would make it run in legacy forever. Like I said, I don't really understand this stuff yet, so figured I'd ask. Thanks for advice

I'm assuming many people on here have cats. Do you guys have problems with hair sticking to fan grates? Any good solutions? (No, not shaving my cat) you think panty hose would work as a filter for it without hampering air flow? If so, inside the case or outside the case? Thanks

awesome info. So in your guys opinion....I'm looking to learn a trade basically. I want to be able to work and make decent money while I pursue an advanced degree in (astro)physics. But not really feeling hvac or something. Maybe electrician. But rather get something computer related. How many years of school for these kind of jobs?

4th gens are overclocked by increasing the front-side-bus multiplier. non-K have a "locked" multiplier.

The only way to overclock is to increase the front-side-bus from 100mhz to something higher.

the issue is that due to the architecture of Intel chipsets and 3rd / 4th gens it is very difficult to have a stable overclock when increasing the FSB. you can sometimes get 105 MHz or 108 MHz but any higher is very rare.

The front side bus is linked to some other I/O controllers and handles the PCI and memory speeds. offset adjustments against these must be made to avoid them causing instability.

Its generally just not a great way to go, if you want to overclock a 4th gen then you really want to up the multiplier, hence a "K" chip

MOST mobo's can overclock. not all but most.
