Honestly if you want something that will last you a long time and you won't have to worry about upgrading in the future, Schiit Magni+Modi will be your best bet and it's just a bit over $200 all told.

I'm running a 970 on 2560x1080 as well and while I definitely agree there are a couple games that drop it below 60fps. That being said I suggest waiting for Pascal since the 980Ti and Fury X aren't quite there for 3440x1440 or 4k yet, but if you did want to upgrade now the Gigabyte GTX 980 Ti G1 is your best bet.

My recommendation would be the DT 990 of the two, but the HD 518 might also be a good choice based on your music preferences. 

Mistakes happen. When you're working alone it's even easier to have something like this slip through the cracks. It's good of him to admit his mistake, amend the video and move on. He doesn't owe you anything. 
 
Then again you probably didn't like him before the incident and this is just serving as confirmation bias.

I think he meant that the R7 370 was good for stuff like LoL at 4k, and the R9 380 for more demanding games. Either way not exactly a strong presentation so far.

I would avoid the 25" monitors if possible, they are really small vertically. I actually just bought (arrived this afternoon even) a LG 29UM55-P for $250 used ($400 retail) off of Amazon and if you're in the US I believe they still have some left in stock.
