  1. what?? 12.8TB in a single dimm? Imagine the use in servers. Basic servers usually ship with anything between 4 - 8GB of ram, which can be achieved with only one dimm. So lets say on a typical board there is between 4 - 8 channels, 1 being taken up by the ram itself, that leaves enough space for a total of 89.6TB of ULLTRAdimm ssd. (based on an x79 board with 8 dimms) who knows, in the future AMD or Intel could release a board with more dimm slots. I so want one of these.
  2. with specs like that, in my opinion, its just going to be a console port. most games that are have low minimum specs and un-necessary "recommended" specs.
  3. Its not that painless, and can be quite fun. if you need help. @LinusTech has plenty of build guides you can follow along with on his channel.
  4. I would add a 270x since it can be overclocked pretty far and is a beast of a card for 1080p for gaming. Couple that with your 7870 since they are near enough the same, you should be doing pretty good. you might even be able to drive a monitor higher than 1080p such as 1440p or 1600p (only one though)
  5. the address should be "C:\Users\...........\AppData\Roaming\.minecraft" without the quotes and the ..... being your computer's username. Hope you got it sorted now.
  6. Ugh, windows 8.... goto classic desktop. open up My Computer or a documents window. click the address bar and type %appdata% then follow the instructions posted by @Joshyy
  7. If its working and you've made sure it's stable (EDIT: and you want to) then by all means do it. But its at your own risk. If you decide to do it and something breaks, its your fault, I'm not responsible. (EDIT: I did mention its not recommended by AMD) And by stable testing, I don't mean play some games, Run Furmark or MSI Kombustor for at least 16 - 24 hours, (i also recommend monitoring the cards in MSI Afterburner) If you see any trouble such as artifacts or glitchiness, then its not stable and i would recommend stopping and remove one of the cards.
  8. you can crossfire the R9 270 but its not officially supported or recommended by AMD. your best choice would be 1: Do some digging an find a HD7870 for sale 2: Get a R9 270 - 270X by themselves, and/or get 2 and crossfire them.
  9. I always buy my computer gear from eBuyer. This is going to be awesome. although, I do like scans option, you can order it and have it delivered to a local shop such as Argos to pick up.
  10. I would recommend build number 2 unless your going to be doing heavy editing and rendering, you will not take advantage of the 6 cores that the 4930K offers, the 4770k will do just fine. as for memory 16GB would be more than enough for gaming and editing, again the 32GB would be for heavy editing. That's my recommendation.
  11. If you want to air cool, I would recomend a Noctua NH-D14 or a Thermalright Silver Arrow Extreme. If you wish to water cool, the Swiftech H220 is not a bad choice and the dual 120mm or dual 140mm liquid AIO from Corsair are a good choice, The NZXT Kraken x60 is not that bad either.
  12. Hello everyone, I'm currently looking for a new monitor for a new system (Still using my old system at the moment). I'm looking for a 21" to a 24" monitor that are 1080p. While looking around I have found 2 monitors that stand out to me, but I'm unsure as to which I should get. Monitor 1: Acer 21.5" v226HQL Abd Full 1080p (Check) DVI & HDMI (Check, HDMI for my Xbox 360 (don't hate me)) Between my tolerance of 21" - 24" (Check) 8ms Response Time Link: http://goo.gl/zSCFpg Monitor 2: LG 21.5" 22EA63V Full 1080p (Check) DVI & HDMI (Check, HDMI for my Xbox 360 (again, don't hate me)) Between my tolerance of 21" - 24" (Check) 5ms Response Time Link: http://goo.gl/NKvTxM Now as to WHY I can't decide. The Acer monitor is a VA Panel and the LG monitor is an IPS Panel. Which one is the better, ie: produce the best looking image.?The graphics card I'm looking at is the Gigabyte GTX 760 2GB Windforce edition. (Link: http://goo.gl/c4kXtF). I don't want to use a TN panel because I don't like the viewing angels. As for gaming, I tend to play a lot of Batman AC and AA (Looking to start AO soon), also a fair bit of Minecraft with a high res texture pack, and some BF3 (Looking to get BF4 soon as well) If you can find a better monitor then please leave your suggestion and a link. (My budget is £100 - £125 max) Thanks ever so much for all of your help.
  13. Okay, so it was a lithium ion battery, that was my mistake calling it a Li-Po battery, Sorry. But the point still stands. Even though Lithium ion batteries are much more safe and have features to reduce the risks of failures, accidents can still happen. There is always a sight chance that something might fail, (random number time) the battery could be 99.9999% safe but there is still the 0.0001% that a fault could occur.
  14. His phones battery did not explode, correct. But he never said it did, He just said it burst into flames while it was charging. He was stating it as a worst case scenario, if he did not catch it in time, the battery would have exploded from the heat because of the type of battery that it is (Lithium Polymer) He then went on to "cry" about it in another video because when he showed Samsung the proof, they said they would honor the replacement swap (which in IMO, they should have done any way if it was under warranty which it should be as its not older than 1 year old) but only if he took the video down and signed an NDA that would stop him from making any more claims if this happened again or with another product, and basically told him to keep quiet. They reason he is crying is because 1: His phone caught fire, and Samsung came back to say they would replace it with an equivalent phone, (refurbished/used, ect) 2: Samsung wants him to keep quiet for a reason, (IMO and his by the sound of it), as they know this could be a problem with faulty manufacturing (however unlikely, but it could happen). So this could happen to anyone else and worst of all, could explode/catch fire and possibly result in a death. *EDIT* I also meant to add was well, Well done Nokia, The only reason I swapped from my Lumia 710 is because I wanted a better camera and the lack of apps for Windows phone. Fix those problems (admitingly, the first one could be "get a better phone" ) but if windows Phone got the same attention as Android and iOS did, Ill happily go back to that platform .
  15. and probably made more money, rather than spend more on a warrant for an arrest, and if it goes to court, legal costs.
  16. I have an old SKT775 system, I will proberbly be upgrading in parts, the cpu and motherboard were my priorities, but now this has happened, that will have to change. As for the PSU i have a 550W "Generic" PSU but not the really cheap and nasty ones.
  17. Hi, So I was playing a game and my graphics card just started to artifact. 30 seconds later and my beloved GTS450 finally gave up the ghost and died. So I'm in a predicament and I want your opinion and help. I'm in need of a new graphics card and am unsure of which to pick. I was thinking about a HD 7870 as I have seen them on offer as old stock for around £130 for a 2GB model. The MAX I want to spend is around the £130 give or take £5-6. Any suggestions are welcome and thanks for you help.
  18. The design is using PCI-e raisers to extend where the cards can go. This can help with temps by spacing them further apart from the other cards. Also if the raisers are open ended, then he could leverage the use of 1x slots as mining doesn't require a lot of bandwidth, just raw power. *edit* forgot to mention, this is going to be an epic build, subbed
  19. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll look into that route, currently im still in the decision stage, so i can change what i want before i place my order. for all three parts mentioned? £160 - £180 although, I think i have an idea as to what ram I want.
  20. Thanks for your help. Any suggestion for a motherboard?
  21. Hello, Im going to finally update my rig which has served me well for a long time now and I need some help on which parts to chose. Im currently using Intel Core 2 Duo E6420 OC'd to 2.8GHz from 2.13GHz Some random ASUS board (SKT 775) 4GB DDR2 (Samsung and Corsair kits) MSI Nvidia GTS450 OC Cyclone Generic 550W Xenta Power supply 2x 250GB, 1x160GB, 1x80GB HDD So I want to upgrade my processor, motherboard and RAM for the moment. I have been looking at the AMD Athlon x4 760K (FM2) and the intel core i3 3220 (SKT 1155) I have seen many reviews of the i3 3220 and know what its performance is like because the school I attend, just refurbished all of their machines to 4GB DDR3 and i3 3220's. But I can not find any reviews or comparisons between the i3 and the 760K. I play quite a few games on steam and origin, so I was thinking that the AMD since it is a quad core would benefit me more than the Intel's dual core with hyper-threading, but the AMD only has 4MB L2 cache, where the i3 comes with 3MB L3 cache. I don't care for on-board video because of the GPU I'm using, that's why I was thinking the 760K because it's an APU without the graphics, My budget is around £160 - £180 for the three parts mentioned. I have settled on a minimum of 8 GB for the RAM and was considering Corsair Vengeance memory (the old ones, not the new colorful ones) So that might be taken care of unless i get any better suggestions. Any suggestions or any help will be gratefully accepted. Also, sorry for the long post. Also I forgot to mention, I would prefer the build to be uATX if possible because of space concerns.
  22. I only posted posted because it just seamed a bit curious.
  23. 4 slots supporting up to 64 GB? isn't the highest haswell supports 32 GB and the highest density Ram for sale only in 8GB sticks for consumers?
