El Salvador wants to make BTC legal tender
The Benjamins replied to Master Disaster's topic in Tech News
it can be validated instantly, its confirmed (locked in) after 10 min. Banks typically take DAYS to confirm transactions, they are just shown and semi validated instantly -
El Salvador wants to make BTC legal tender
The Benjamins replied to Master Disaster's topic in Tech News
No, a transaction is see instantly and can be validated at the same time. it is confirmed by the whole network after its in 1 block (10 min) and the community usually deems it as solid after 3-6 blocks deep (30-60 min) so for a normal store purchases its seen as instant and any big ones it be 1 hour. -
El Salvador wants to make BTC legal tender
The Benjamins replied to Master Disaster's topic in Tech News
I hope this passes so it puts more pressure on the network and forces BTC community to updated it to allow for more transactions per min. which would reduce the transaction fee. the only reason BTC transaction fee is so high is that there is too many per min for it to handle. -

USB C everything: USB IF releases new USB-C 2.1 spec
The Benjamins replied to WolframaticAlpha's topic in Tech News
ya but it sucks that due to USB-IF being so open the media likes to grab random bits of info from the spec and go with it. No one needed to know the technical names like USB 3.2 2x2 for 20Gbps, all they need to know is that USB SS 20 is 20Gbps its great that USB C can be used in many other standards but in turn it also confuses people. TB3/4 and DP2 will both use USB C -

The Benjamins replied to WolframaticAlpha's topic in Tech News
you seem confused USB-C and USB-A and USB-B are physical standard that are unrelated to speeds USB 1, 2, 3.0, 3.1, 3.2, 4 are protocols that govern speed Also most media like to use the spec names and not the brand names which is where the confusion comes from. The branding is super simple, but some how know one knows it -

Summary Sia has been developing a decentralized storage network based on blockchain technology, about a year ago they released a web-based front end called siasky.net that makes is easy for anyone to use the Sia network, without the need of owning SiaCoin or using the wallet. SiaSky is a open source front end that can be hosted by anyone (siasky.net is operated by the developers of Sia). Today they added the support for accounts that track upload and download history and the ability's to pay for faster bandwidth and pinned storage. Pinned storage is data that the host of the SiaSky portal to maintain on the Sia network, Items that are not pinned may be removed by the network naturally. Quotes My thoughts I am interested to see how much farther Sia goes with all of there projects. My hopes are to see cheaper easier cloud file storage. I would love to see a LTT Video on a Sia Storage project! What I mean is until a person makes money and has to spend it on responsibilities they will not fully learn the value of money. I do agree its best to start early and allow kids to make choices like picking out a gift ( one big one or 2 smaller ones). From my personal experience, I might of thought I knew the value of money when I was younger, but until I had a job and had bills did I full understand money and its values. sadly not everyone gets exposed to money in the same way, which is why we have people that save every cent or spend as they get it as 2 examples. as for the article I cant expect much from a 13yo with unrestricted access to a credit card, while game devs try and create systems to confuse and impulse people into spending more.
-
Well getting free money (first 2 bullets) is not a good way to understand value of money. Thats how so many "rich kids" grown into a terrible understanding of money. I do agree kids shouldn't have a burden of money, but they should gradually get exposed to both sides of it (working/responsibilities). As I stated in the other post I made kids dont really get fully exposed to the system until they have there first job and something to pay for like there first car, until then its just concepts they may or may not understand fully.
-
how many 13yo have real world use of money at that age. they might get some from chores or allowance, but with out exposure to major responsibilities it would be hard to tie a real value to money like $100. Most kids dont have to worry about buying food or shelter and are shielded from the responsibilities by there parents. Kids dont really get exposed to the real value of money until they start there first job and have there first payments (like a car). So some might start to learn at 16-18yo. but also about the $1400 the kid didnt do it in one shot. I bet it was $20-50 increments with losing count of how many times. I bet the kid might of thought he spent a few hundred not $1400. game companies already use confusing tactics on adults to get them to spend more then they would normally. as a example League of Legends is associates the $ amount to the in game currency (RP) with a confusing ratio, so in the store front you cant quickly see the $ value of what you are buying. what do you mean "from the start" like at 1yo? I do agree parents should teach there child about money but its never going to fully get grasped unless the kid gets exposed to earning and spending on there own which is not typical until after 16yo (first job age)
-
I dont think you should expect a 13yo to fully understand the value of money. since they are typically not working for there money its hard for people to relate to the impact of a number. They should know its bad to spend a lot of money but for the kid they can't really understand the impact of $1000 lost if they haven't worked for it or have responsibilities to pay for, also they would be falling into the trap of the "its only $20 here and there".

Audible controversy (Amazon how could you?!!)
The Benjamins replied to Nena Trinity's topic in Tech News
As a person who has been using audible a lot over the past 2 years (using the 2 books a month plan), if I where to jump ship what are some other good platforms. Things I like is the monthly credit system so I can get lone/big/new books for the same price monthly (about $11 per book) I will not loss my collection from moving because all of my audiobooks are downloaded and managed by my plex server. I think I only returned one book through audible (oops sorry) -
well ultrawide is used for the 21:9 aspect ratio not the 32:9. But the industry standards is the "k" ones mean width, and the "p" ones mean height. 4k typically seen as 3840 x nnnn; 2.5k = 2560 x nnnn; 2k = 1920 x nnnn 2160p typically seen as nnnn x 2160; 1440p = nnnn x 1440p; 1080p = nnnn x 1080 but to make things confusing a 1080p Movie shot in 21:9 (like most) is 1920x800 all this has been standard for years
-
I think you should update it to 5k ultrawide, thats how Dell is marketing it and its resolution it 5k not 4k. 4k would be 3840x1600 while this is 5120 x 2160
